Picture this, you wake early on a lukewarm morning before the sunrise. You being your days work with a light snack to tide you over until a true breakfast. As the sun rises in all it's splendor, you enjoy God's work as you labor on. Finally you decide to break and eat, but where do you go? Do you go somewhere quick, easy, and unhealthy or somewhere savory, quaint, and local. The latter I hope.
Welcome to T.C. Eggington's. You pull up to a parking area, immediately greeted by a peaceful, suburbia-styled patio to the left. The main entrance is a large, wooden, country mansion styled door. You walk in to an elegant, peaceful bed-n-breakfast style diner with staff waiting to greet you. As you look around you see classic decor, dim lighting, and delightful aromas meet your senses. They are busy, but it's not loud, and people are eating more than talking. A great sign!
You meet your waitress, Kelly, who is professionally dressed, delightful and knows the menu. The table over mentions how great the coffee is and Kelly agrees. I asked about creamer varieties, which they do not have but the latte selection is nice. Kelly compliments my choice of the Raspberry White Chocolate Latte and says it's a favorite. (Photo 1) She notes that the diner has been in business for over 35 years, as I continue looking around in wonderment.
The menu is extensive and boasts a wide array of internationally inspired flavor! I couldn't decide between to items, so Kelly helped me reach a great comprise for a small fee. What I enjoyed was the Frattina Kamala Omelette with a piece of English toast with French Flair on the side. (Photo 2 and 3)
The Frattina Kamala Omelette: What a well-rounded treat, very fresh vegetables, a touch of tang, and it's not too creamy/cheesy! I ditched the olives out of personal preference, but I can see how they would compliment the omelette. The artichoke and zucchini were very interesting, tasteful flavors that I've never had in an omelette before. I award major points for creativity! The Parlour Potato size was quite large as well. The potatoes are lightly seasoned, not over done and perfect with a little added pepper and jalapenos.
English toast with French Flair: Wow! The size (do you see the shadow?), and the flavor. I am a connoisseur of French toast, and this is a strong competitor. It was fluffy, thick, yet light and thoroughly baked. There wasn't a single bit or edge of crust without the love of baking and the taste of cinnamon! Yes, it is handmade fresh daily!
Raspberry White Chocolate Latte: Even though I was full, pleased, relaxed, and rejuvenated, I did have a second one. It was that good! The Columbian beans are freshly ground and give the latte a perfect sweet, robust flavor.
Kelly: Stick with it, and keep exploring the menu. You're suggestions made this an easy experience, and I doubt I'll enjoy another meal this great today! You read people very well. I appreciate you following my cues of smiles and nods, rather than trying to get a verbal response through my chewing. My only recommendation is maybe another pass between the order placement and bringing the food. You're smile, eyes, and tone are so pleasant that your inner beauty shines through the mask! Thank you and bless you.
Atmosphere:
Everything down to the bathrooms and walls is clean, well-decorated, and perfect. (Last 3 pictures) I WILL be back, with...
Read moreNestled in a rather unassuming exterior, this establishment is a classic example of how looks can be deceiving. Upon entering, I was greeted promptly and seated within just a couple of minutes, which set a positive tone for the visit. Unfortunately, my excitement for an espresso was short-lived, as I learned that their machine was down—a minor hiccup, but one that can happen anywhere. My attempt to order a 50-50 iced tea also fell flat, leading me to settle for the unsweetened version with lemon instead. It’s worth noting here that sweetening cold beverages typically requires liquid sweetener; something to keep in mind for future menu considerations.
For my meal, I opted for the avocado toast topped with scrambled eggs and a pancake. First impressions matter, and the clean utensils certainly added to the overall experience. The avocado toast was delightful, boasting a great flavor profile with a nice spicy kick. The bread was enjoyable, although I would have preferred a slightly softer crust. This dish certainly earns a solid 4 out of 4.
The pancake, while not visually impressive, surprised me with its balanced flavor, earning a respectable 3 out of 4. I would definitely order it again. However, I did notice that there was no follow-up from the staff during my meal, and I was disappointed to find that no military or veterans discount was offered. Additionally, the establishment's stance on certain issues, such as their anti-2A policy, contributed to a feeling of unease regarding safety, which is an important consideration for many diners.
In conclusion, I genuinely enjoyed the meal; the flavors were well-crafted and left me feeling satisfied rather than heavy. Although the service was acceptable, I felt it lacked the warmth and professionalism I hoped for. This could be due to a focus on regular local customers rather than a broader approach to hospitality. Despite these reservations, I would recommend this place for the delicious flavors, but personally, I may hesitate to return based on the overall experience. Still, for those seeking good food, it’s...
Read moreMy 1st time here and will not be my last! Met a girlfriend who had been coming for years, now I know why. Absolutely GREAT food and really good sized portions too. Coffee is just right also. Not too strong like some places, but not watered down either. You get a nice pitcher of real cream too! I had an amazing omelet with sliced Pears, Bacon & Havariti cheese. It was absolutely amazing!! But I need to talk about the people here that keep this place running so smoothly. I learned after talking to the manager that this restaurant has been owned by the same people for 33 years. Many people have worked here for along time, and some are 2nd generation employees. Meaning, first there was a parent and now there is a daughter working there. This is a place where employees are more than just that.... they are all family! There is a definite sense you get as a customer that this is a well a well oiled machine for many reasons! Looking out for each other here is important! Waitstaff interaction appears to be fun and relaxed in a place that is obviously always busy because the food is delicious and the atmosphere is comfortable and so welcoming!! The decor is casual farm style and very quaint, not over done at all. Chairs are even comfortable, you don't get the feeling like they are telling you to eat and move on quickly! As I looked around and observed others dining, everyone really appeared to be enjoying themselves. My friend and I stayed for over 2 hours, lot's to catch up on today. I was just really impressed with this restaurant overall!! Very clean place also. I'm new to Arizona this year and have been to many places. This place is definitely on the very TOP of my FAVORITE GO'S now!! If you haven't been, go!! Ask if Karli or Madison are working.... I met...
