Covid-19 put a real damper on "date night" for me, but since the Governor has left restaurants alone this go round, I decided to use a gift card I had been saving since around January. My companion and I came at 4:15 (to beat the Friday night rush) and were seated almost immediately. We wore our masks to the table then left them off until it was time to go. There were Plexiglas panels installed on top of the booth dividers, so we felt pretty safe. (They actually make the booths more intimate, as well.) The bread and honey-butter we got right after sitting down was warm and delicious. (My date eats gluten free, so they were all mine...😋) We both started with an ice water then ordered the flavored lemonade, "Blue Crush" for her and "Raspberry" for me. A very refreshing take on an old stand-by, we had both drank 2 full glasses by meal's end... Our appetizer was the shrimp, which was quite tasty. My date loved it, and we almost had to arm-wrestle for the last piece. Yummy! She chose the gluten-free "Herb Crusted Chicken", with sides of sweet potato and corn. When it arrived, I was worried because it was seared, but she said it was so tender it almost melted in her mouth. Turns out it was the herbs that got seared, not the meat. I ordered the "Chicken Critter Salad" with blue cheese dressing. I was debating on either ordering that or the "Country Veg Plate", bt I was in the mood for a salad.Matt, our very attentive server, offered extra blue cheese crumbles, but I figured that the dressing was plenty strong on it's own. (I was right.) There is just something about eating hot chicken bites on a cold salad that my mouth enjoys. I would have preferred more eggs, carrots, tomatoes and greens with less iceberg lettuce, but it was cold and delicious nonetheless with just enough shredded cheddar in the mix. The bowl they served it in was rather large, so I didn't quite finish it all. (I ate until I was full, but not stuffed.) Neither of us had room for a desert, but that was okay. The Plexiglas made it noticeable when they turned the music up at 5 because our intimate booth suddenly got an infusion of county music, but not enough to complain about. The whole staff wore "I Love My Job" T-shirts and was super friendly. It's hard to see people smile with masks on, but I didn't feel any insincerity from the (at least) 20 people who wished us good night when we left. I'm glad they have weathered the pandemic so far. I left feeling a bit more thankful to be able to actually go inside a restaurant and sit for a meal. And they do it right...

My wife, two daughters and son in law went for my birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse in Mesa. We've gone there before during the holidays and that experience was good. This time, it was an embarrassment.
We were seated just fine and our server was nice. But after that everything went bad.
She brought out our drinks and when she was serving them, three of the drinks fell onto my son in law's lap. They poured all over his brand new jeans and soaked both him and the bench. The waitress was on it right away. But it took quite a few minutes to get everything soaked up from the bench. In fact even my youngest daughter got wet from the drinks sliding over to her. The table behind us even even gave us their napkins to help clean the mess up.
The waitress was very apologetic. We totally understand if she was shaken up. Things happen and we were ok with it. Once things settled down we ordered and the food came out in a good amount of time. But sides were missing, drinks were confused and silverware wasn't replaced.
In addition, the food was subpar from the previous time we were there. Maybe because of everything that happened or because we all felt bad that my son in law was sitting there eating in soaked pants. But the food wasn't good.
Once we were done, the check came. It was for $156. No comps were offered. No discounts given. Just full price for everything. The waitress looked at the bill and knew the full price.
We gave the waitress two hundred in cash and she asked if we wanted change. Are you serious?! Did she really expect a $44 tip after that fiasco?!
One of the ladies from table behind us who had given us the napkins to help clean up asked us as she was leaving if they comped any meal or given any discounts. We said, "Nope". She just rolled her eyes, said "figures" and left.
The waitress did come back with the change and again offered an apology. But it was too little, too late. No manager came to ask us what happened. It's as if either a manager wasn't told or didn't care. I guess as long as someone doesn't make a fuss, then no comps will be offered.
To me that just shows how terrible the customer service is at Texas Roadhouse. I wonder if that's their norm. Seat them, serve them, charge full price, flip the table. Rinse and repeat.
Even with the fact that we were given a free mini scoop of ice cream for my birthday didn't mean squat.
This was by far the worst birthday dinner experience ever. Might as well have gone to QT for dinner. We would've had better customer...
Read moreTonight was Hell at Texas Roadhouse. My family and I came in for dinner after a long hard day and had not eaten since breakfast so we were hungry and ready to eat. As we were walking to our table they had us wait 5 mins in front of another table as they cleaned one off. There was clean tables all around the restaurant. So we were seated and not a hey your server will be with you in a moment NOTHING.She dropped the basket of rolls and ran. 10 mins later our server shows up. You could tell he didn't care. We told him the checks were split between my husband and I and my mom. We ordered drinks and he must of thought because we ordered water we were not gonna tip because after that he didn't seem to care about our table. As he dropped off the waters and took our order and I ordered a drink he said oh your out of rolls Ill grab more. Our food came, no rolls and no drink. 10 mins later he walks past our table and I had to grab his attention and ask for my drink and more rolls. He said oh yeah, one second 10 mins later my coke finally came and no rolls. We asked again politely about the rolls. He said oh yeah we still haven't gotten any up there. That's a lie because we kept seeing other serves grabbing rolls. So my husband brings it up to his attention and he starts going crazy. Yelling at us that they are complementarity and that we don't know his personal life or work life. First of all what does your personal life have to do with us or service? Nothing. I asked for a manager. 15 mins later the manager shows up and you could tell they had been talking about us and not in a positive way. He wanted to know what happened and we told him. After he said so all you want is rolls? And I said basically yes and better service. He walked away and came back with rolls and asked us if we needed anything else but honestly acted like he didn't care. My meat was tough and my fries were cold but I let it go because I just wanted to leave. There was no reason to yell at us and freak out over rolls. The service...
