TRIED TO SCAM US; TOURISTS BEWARE! We had really high hopes for this place, considering the extremely high stars on Google and a delicious looking "special lunch menu". Let's just say after our experience, if I could give their service 0 stars, I would.
First of all, when we arrived we were looking forward to the 25 dollar lunch menu (posted currently on their website, with the name AMALFI TRATTORIA, not AMALFI COAST). Our waitress, Alessia brought out another manager and they refused to acknowledge this mistake and told us a long winded explanation about how it was actually the Amalfi Coast and they hadn't changed the website or name but they have same owners (Okay?? weird.)
Anyways, moving on. The food was decent but we got no bread as a starter and slow service. They even made a mistake with our dishes and led to an extra 15 min wait for one of our members at the table. Even a small request like ice water, would cause our server OBVIOUS annoyance. My meal was cold but I was so tored of her attitude I just shut up.
But the worst part of this experience, disregarding the rude, inaccurate, and slow service, was the bill. I noticed (miraculously) when we got our check that my pasta had been overcharged by TEN DOLLARS. I alerted the waitress of this, and noticed that EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. had been charged MUCH MORE. I mean by the time we added everything up, it was FORTY DOLLARS MORE (including the MANDATORY 20% they sneak in). While I was going through the bill with the waitress, she cut me off and then proceeded to just say "You're right, will fix" NO EXPLANATION? Weird.
Very sus establishment but that's just our experience. Last time I will visit this tourist trap. I wonder how many people have not noticed the upcharges on their bill and how much money this place has made off of that mistake. Unethical practices.
Edit because I feel the need to add that even after all of that, overcharging 40 bucks, etc. they never apologized and just offered to give us plastic utensils for our meal for my friends...
Read moreThat's Amore! The name of the restaurant must have been related to the prices on the menu!! We fancied an Italian meal and found this on Ocean Drive, just across from the beach. We ordered a starter of bruschetta with our drinks. Unfortunately, the starter came along and the bruschetta pieces were all burnt. The waitress apologised and replaced it with some fresh bruschetta. There were three pieces but as there were four of us, the waitress ordered an extra bruschetta. We were given fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar before our starter. The brushetta was tasty when the second batch came out but two of them were still burnt! For our mains, we got margarita pizza, pizza with baeata and alfredo pasta. We also got fries. The pasta was tasty but the pizzas were a battle to cut. The crust was really hard and I could have done with a jackhammer to cut the crust. On a few occasions, I almost lost my pizza off my plate as I used so much force to try to cut the crust. Eventually, I just cut the crust off and had the rest of the pizza which was cheesy and tasty. The fries were only a small portion and some of them were burnt! As we were celebrating a birthday, we had a mishap with a birthday cheesecake coming without the sparkler. We had to redo this a few minutes later with the sparkler and we all sang 'happy birthday.' The cheesecake was actually quite tasty. Overall, parts of the meal were lovely (authentic homemade pasta) but other parts were unsatisfactory. The waitress apologised for our long wait to sort our bill and pay. The bill was quite high for the quality of the food. I would only recommend this place for the pasta on...
