One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I didn't do my due diligence in throughly reading the reviews and I paid dearly for it. First impression was bad since I saw 2 cops searching through a room (which I know is out of the hotels control so I won't hold that against them) but that is the only thing I will give them the benefit of the doubt on because there is a whole lot more.
TLDR: Check the videos I uploaded. The room smelled and was not like what was advertised, I had requested a room change or even a refund during the first 2 hours of checking in just to be waved off without any form of compensation. The receptionist was rude and unwilling to help, some of the bonuses they claim to provide on their website are false such as the promotions they run with other businesses on the street is no longer a thing. My stay here was so bad that I had to book a different hotel even without the refund.
The hotel charges a premium simply for the location, which is located on a busy street with lots to do. I don't know where their funds go to but it's clearly not towards upgrading the experience of those staying there. First of all when I had checked in there was a resort fee per person and security deposit that hadn't been mentioned beforehand. I had stepped into the room and immediately knew that I did not want to stay there any longer, I had gone to the front desk and asked for a room change or refund to which they gave me none. They said I would have to do it through Expedia since I booked it with them, so I did as they told me and Expedia said that they couldn't give me a refund because despite them calling and emailing the hotel they kept denying a full or even a partial refund (they kept saying it was against their policy but I couldn't find any record of it on their website or during booking), which is why I am very disappointed in my experience since I had very reasonable complaints.
The room was horrible, the placement of it was in a small corner all the way at the back as if they were trying to hide it. Because not only did the entire room smell of sewage and garbage, mainly coming from the bathroom, it was much smaller than expected and the windows had been covered up with some not even able to be opened up. The only window that I could open was situated right above a dumpster which was full during most of my stay there you could imagine the smell. The bathroom was also constantly leaking a strong sewage odor and we had to keep the door closed to stop it from coming into the room and making it smell worse.
The bedsheets weren't fitted properly and every morning you'd end up on the bare mattress, and the handle for the shower comes off at the slightest touch and could easily hit your foot hard while showering in the smell of the sewage. I could tell that the cleaning lady felt bad because every time we would go into our room after room service it was clear that they sprayed the hell out of the room with air freshener.
The only worthwhile thing about this hotel is free breakfast for 2 (with limited options, gratuity is not included in the free coupon they give you) and the location which is near the beach and a bunch of clubs and restaurants. However you will have the occasional drunk outside causing a lot of noise and making it difficult to...
Read moreThis is a detailed review I didn't enjoy my experience at this hotel and I was strongly contemplating forfeiting the money i spent for 3 nights and staying somewhere else. I was not happy or comfortable at all. The hotel was not ideal for 4 people in one room. There are some good things about this hotel. Here are the positive and negative aspects of my experience...
Positives: Location pushes this hotel up to 2 stars. The location is great. It's on Ocean Dr. right near the beach. It's a very lively area. The hotel let you sign out beach towels for free. House keeping came by everyday to clean the room and they provided clean towels and bottles of water everyday. The room was clean in some ways. No bad smell, the floors were clean and beds were made. They have 2 robes in the closet. The bathroom was very small but clean and nicer than what i would have expected while looking at the rest of the place. We didn't get the breakfast but my sister and her hubby ate at the restaurant and said that the food was spectacular. She would highly recommend the food. People were at the restaurant all day and all night and they clearly were having a good time. The drinks looked great.
Negatives: Walking into the hotel is confusing because it's right where the restaurant is. It's really weird because we kept running into servers. There should be a separate entrance for guests staying th the hotel and customers for the restaurant. Checking in was ok but I felt water dripping on me. I looked up and the ceiling was leaking. This place looks so old and worn down on the inside. The elevator is old and you have to open a door to get in. That's very hard to do with suitcases. It's better to take the stairs. The rooms are extremely small. There were 4 people including myself in the room and it was uncomfortable. The "double" beds were laughably small. Honestly my rating would be a little bit higher if the beds were decent. They are the most uncomfortable beds that I've ever slept on. I laid on park benches more comfortable haha. My husband's back is so bad that he had to miss work the day after we came back home. The bed ruined his back. The beds were the worst part of my experience! The windows are frosted so you can't look out. There's no screen in the window so you can't open it either because bugs may fly in. Even though the rooms were fairly clean, the sheets were not. There were all kinds of stains on the sheets which was just gross.
Overall, we were pretty disgusted by our experience and would never stay there again. My sister would eat at the restaurant but that's it. If you are traveling solo or with one other person, want to be near the beach and don't have high expectations for your room maybe you would be ok with this place. Otherwise, I would...
Read moreI can not express enough how my first trip to Miami was nothing short of amazing. I literally have no negative/cons about this location. Did I mention this hotel was front and center on 7th and Ocean Drive, directly across from South beach?! We didn't need the ocean view because walking out to the sand was heaven in itself. Plus I don't care to hear the music and traffic throughout the night so the room was located perfectly. The professionalism, courtesy and kindness shared to my friend and I during this stay was 10/10. I have to first start off by saying that this boutique hotel and its staff were impeccable and extremely clean. The products lingered throughout the hallways and that was definitely a plus. Smelled and felt cleaned. Shoutout to HENRY, MICHAL, and NELSON from the ( FRONT DESK ). Henry was the lead of this pack that drew me in. I communicated continuously prior to the trip, I'm sure I ran Henry nuts by calling often about my reservation but he catered to my every request with no problem. Michal was my morning front desk person who extended kindness upon giving me a breakfast voucher every morning, he was extremely sweet and attentive. Finally, Nelson who wrapped up our experience was so generous, holding our luggage while we lingered around waiting for a late night flight and used the time to get some last minute sight seeing on the strip! Let me brag about the food here. Even if you do not stay with Majestic Hotel, you must give Ocean 7 a try It is very rare that I go to a restaurant and I do not have some problem with my order or food. THE FOOD HERE WAS AMAZING. I'M TALKING ABOUT FINGER LICKING GOOD , SEASONED RIGHT, THROUGH EVERY SINGLE BITE. JEFRREY & JEROME our amazing servers of ( OCEAN 7 ), little restaurant that sits on the property (partnered with hotel). We specifically requested to eat in Jerome's area each morning for breakfast. The simple breakfast was definitely made with love and we were shown MAD love.
And, at night we vibed with Jeffrey. He was our entertainment and the guide we needed. He kept us on point about everything as the other gentlemen did, and he directed us to experiences that he thought we would enjoy.
To be honest I did not know what to expect from a boutique hotel. I usually stray away from anything rated under 7/ 10, but I'm also realistic that everyone's expectations are what can drive ratings down. These 5 guys 🤣, no pun intended, really made us feel warmed and welcomed. I'm heavy on customer service and it made our stay worth it. I will definitely be back to stay with this property, hands down!! Thank you Henry, Michal, Nelson, Jerome, and Jeffrey it is because of you guys that this trip was everything. Until we see you next time...
