I don’t normally write reviews unless something is outstanding or terrible… This place was equally both of those things. First with my main beef, there was no hot water in my room… I had just flown halfway around the world, and airports for 19 hours, and all I wanted was a hot shower, A/C and comfortable bed. Literally that is the number one responsibility of any hotel in the world is to provide those three things. I was so exhausted when I got in that I just didn’t want to mess with it so I just took a cold shower, as painful as it was and crashed and then the next morning when I went to check out which is this morning, having to catch a flight… I told them at the ftont desk there was no hot water, and literally their response was a “sorry about that, have a great day”. Seriously. They didn’t give two cents care. I kindly mentioned you may want to get that fixed before you ever rent that room out again. Literally didn’t even respond or act like it was any deal at all… Almost every other hotel I would’ve ever stayed at would’ve been petrified at that statement and done anything to prevent me from writing this review. As any legitimate hotel would do they would offer you something for the inconvenience and the failure on their part to provide what you paid for. I’m not at the person he complains much but this was just basic common courtesy and business.
Now here is the good parts.. when I arrived the girl was very friendly, the room was large it was like it used to be an apartment or something, it is a fantastic location just a block from the beach. You can tell it’s an older building that was renovated and it was done very well, it has interesting old pictures of movie stars in Elvis so all that was good. It has a lot of great restaurants on the other side of the block.
Now here’s the part in between, I’m not for sure how they could ever have gotten a classification as a four-star hotel… The four-star rating is strictly based on amenities… I’ve literally stayed in hotels in over 500 cities around the world, and this probably had the least amenities of anything I’ve ever seen that is classified as a four-star hotel, so I kind of doubt that is a factor. The swimming pool is basically a large hot tub without the hot part. There is no parking, so you have to use an outside company and this was an off-season and it was still $40 for valet. Plus there is the $28 resort fee so already, The deal it seems like you’re getting is really not as good as you were getting. There is a restaurant next-door to it but there is no internal restaurant, no room service, nothing that would remotely classify it as a four-star hotel. This didn’t even have the basic amenities of like a hotel Holiday Inn express or courtyard Marriott, so anyway it shoot at the very top be a three star hotel. But honestly it’s borderline to star as far as classification. At the end of the day I realized I could’ve stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn, for the same price, I would’ve never had these kind of issues so my bad but if you’re more about staying next to the ocean that I guess this is probably a...
Read moreGreat location. Pet friendly, wonderful large size room. Asked for deposit and resort fee after we submitted to a Google review. Nightclub underneath hotel that serves food. Doesn't face ocean but only a block away. Is not a resort. The best things about this bohemian style place are the rooms that have separate sitting areas and kitchens, and the location in South beach. In the morning, they put a spread of bread, butter, jam, orange juice and coffee for guests to enjoy. They have a very nice tiki courtyard too where you can relax, sleep, talk, bring your food or cocktails and enjoy the sitting area located within the hotel outside. Be careful because there has been a backlash since I posted the truth about my hotel stays at various locations , particularly two of them that I paid a lot of money and stayed for almost two weeks at each place and both managers were awful. The rest of the managers were mostly very nice. I don't mind posting great reviews when it's rightly deserved. As a customer and traveler, we seek places that are clean and have a pleasant environment. You would be surprised how I have been attacked for posting the truth and the shenanigans that were employed to get me to return to a place that was extremely rude and disrespectful and some of the people that run to the other places that I frequent to either put their two cents in or try to create problems instead of finding solutions. My large luggage was stolen from in front of holiday inn and have used all my cash to purchase food and incidentals, knowing this, they did not waive resort fee and still demanded more than $34 additionally. I asked to go potty and one employee wouldn't let me use the restroom. Another employee allowed. Their customer service is mediocre here too unfortunately. Hotel/motel is cute, clean and spacious. Great for families to visit. Metropolis has been a pleasant stay 2 out of three times for me. I don't usually post on Google but it is their preferred demanding method and requested that I post on Google for them before giving me my room key, otherwise I dont use google. They did check me in earlier than expected. At check-out, one of them wanted to speak to me and felt this had been a terrible review and was angry with me for it and as a paying guest proceeded to reprimand me like a child. She was upset because I didn't give the motel {Metropole Hotel) five stars. I tried to explain to her that this was not five stars. She also said that she waived a $250 resort pet fee and a one hundred dollar deposit and because of that felt they deserved five stars! I can't imagine a motel thinking that they should receive a $250 deposit!!! Really! What they need to realize is fixing their errors and making it even better. Like I said 2 out of 3 times, it was great. I'm not a child and I don't like being reprimanded or having to hear someone curse up a storm to dry my laundry because they are upset over a review. When I went for coffee this morning, one of the two maids was pointing at me behind my back to the...
Read moreThe worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The day we arrived (Oct. 8th) the room wasn’t properly cleaned. The countertops and stove in the kitchen had not been cleaned. As we continued to get settled into the room we hear the air conditioned come on. OMG!! The air-conditioning unit in the room was so loud it sounded like an industrial engine in a factory. It woke us up every night so needless to say we didn’t get much sleep. To add insult to injury, while trying to sleep I felt something on my head. Thinking it was a roach I jumped up and turned on the lights only to realize it was the “pleather” headboard that was peeling and falling on my head. The worst part about it all was the lack of response from the hotel staff including the Manager, Jose Pita. I immediately addressed my concerns with the front desk clerk the night we arrived and asked for another room as this room was not satisfactory at all. The receptionist proceeds to tell me that she couldn’t help me and that I would need to speak with someone in the morning. I waited until the following morning to address my concerns with the next person on duty. That young lady (Ruth) was the only pleasant person at the hotel. She stated she would have someone check out the AC unit in our room and if it couldn’t be repaired she would move us to another room. I explained we would be out the entire day and would return around 5pm that afternoon which she replied, “no problem”. As we returned from our day of exploring Miami I approached the young lady at the desk (her name was Hynah) to inform her of the conversation I had with Ruth and she proceeds to tell me that they would not be moving our room as Ruth had stated. She said “All the AC units sound like that”. When I asked to speak to the Manager she told me he wasn’t there so I asked for his email address. I sent the Manager (Jose Pita) a lengthy email detailing my experience in an effort to see if he could resolve the issues at hand for a paying customer. I never received a response from Mr. Pita. As someone who is a Corporate Exec in the hospitality industry and stays at hotels 150+ nights a year across the gulf south region this was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. If I could give this a ZERO I would. I am going to make sure I let all of my colleagues and contacts know never to stay at this...
