Goodtime: Thank you to the following staff members who made my stay extra special, Atriana, Jose, Ken, Thomas, David, Cheryl, Ivan, Abraham, Héctor, Dominique, Tristan!
Short review: Change the name to Great Time or Excellent time because that's exactly what my friends and I had here!
Long review: From the moment I walked down the atrium towards the hotel I was met with good music and beautiful scenery. Once you enter the hotel there's no mistake you're in Miami! Peachy pinks, turquoise and green decorated the lobby with floral wallpaper. I was immediately greeted by a guy that has a look that's all too familiar, but there's no way my ex boyfriend would be gretting me with prosseco and a smile. Atriana wears a smile and graceful demeanor. Ken comes bouncing out with an Allstar personality and it shows! Jose happily walks me and my bags to my room providing colorful conversation. Upon entering the room it felt like the perfect place for a girls trip and my 2 girls are showing up within that day. The room is a perfect place to lay your head and clean your body, if you came to Miami to stay in your room then The Goodtime hotel may not be your vibe. When we went back downstairs we were surprised to see an ice cream cart now in the lobby. Dessert before dinner? Yes please! Abraham shared that Española Way was a great place to find the Cuban fare our taste buds were craving. The next morning my other friend arrived and we decided on breakfast at the hotel restaurant Strawberry Moon. We opted to sit outside, Cheryl was our server and she epitomizes what it means to have a servants heart. She wore a smile upon every approach and even gave us some delicious freebies for being so nice to her. My friend and I needed to get some work done, yep even in Miami on a Friday. So we sat outside of the intricately curated library, we would have sat in the library but we were looking for a specific accommodation of which we found in 2 turquoise high chairs and marble bistro table situated across from it. I noticed a private party was happening within the hour and the curtains to the library would be closed off. I was curious to be apart of this event and wondered who I needed to know to get in. As various staff approached the curtains I greeted the ones I knew. A distinguished older gentleman noticed me embracing Ken, so he invited me in. When I got in there I immediately knew that this was a staff recognition appreciation party. The Head security guard noticed that I was not part of the staff saw me and walked towards me where upon the distinguished gentleman, Thomas came to my defense claiming, "she's with me, plus she knows everyone here!" I later found out that Thomas was the General Manager of the hotel. As I decided to make my way out to leave the party, Thomas invited me up for ice-cream and doughnuts! I got 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream and said hi to a few more people and planned to walk out, but I felt compelled to add my own thank you as I felt the need to recognize and appreciate the staff that had already made an impression on me in the less than 24 hours that I had been there. Whatever I said left a smile and laughter that lingered for the moment. David later apologized and offered to take care of me and my friends for the remainder of the stay. For dinner that night Abraham was again ready with suggestions. We went to Limoncello which is walking distance from the hotel. It was delicious! (See limoncello Google review) The next morning we took a 6 minute walk to the beach to see the sunrise. Later that day, we decided to take advantage of the hottest pool party in Miami, located at The Goodtime Hotel! The epitome of a goodtime was had- good food, good drinks, good people and simply fun. Miami is the perfect place to collide with various cultures and meet new friends! I look forward to returning to Miami and staying at The...
Read moreThe Goodtime Hotel is located on South Beach and is close to lots of amenities. When we initially arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with a glass of prosecco and because we were staying a reasonable length of time, we were offered a free upgrade to a bigger room which was very generous. While checking in, we were informed that there was a resort tax to pay (which was fine as we expected this) and a returnable deposit to pay (this was a bit of a shock to us as at no point in the booking process, was this communicated to us) which in total was £1181. Our first attempt at paying this sum of money did not register on the hotel’s system and so we were asked to try again, I tried using my own card and was told that the hotel’s system has not registered the transaction, however, I received a notification from my bank saying the transaction was successful. My husband then tried a final time and this successfully went through on the hotel’s system. By this point, over £3000 had been taken from our accounts and we were worried, we felt the staff at the hotel were being nonchalant about our concerns and continuously told us that we would get the money back….. eventually! This money is still pending from our accounts, even now, despite us being home for 4 days, the issue is now with our banks and though I’m confident we will get it back, the experience, as you can imagine, has been very irritating for us. In addition to this, £6.38 has been taken from my husband’s account (the account that their system approved) today by the hotel with no email to notify us what this is concerning, it’s not really acceptable to do this without informing us what it is about, especially as we are no longer there! Once in the room, we unpacked, the room was very spacious and clean. We did find that our towels were not changed very often and the room was freshened up infrequently. At no point were the coffee facilities replenished and the used cups remained there until we left. We tried to keep the room tidy ourselves, but part of the hotel’s fees is housekeeping so it’s not great. The pool area was aesthetically pleasing on the surface, the leaves in the central walk-way are really pretty but the beds are bit grubby and could do with a little refurb. We attended the pool party on the Saturday which was fun, even as a resident you’re not allowed to use the beds or loungers without paying for them, which seems ludicrous as we had paid resort fees plus a deposit, plus the actual cost of the hotel. We had planned to split a sandwich and chips between us but after glancing at the menu, the price of food had been increased for the party, $48 for a chicken wrap! Come off it, who is paying that!? So we chose to leave and eat somewhere else. We made use of the beach and complementary sun loungers quite a few times, a really simple system of retrieving a beach towel from reception and returning it when you’re done and locating a lounger but if you require a parasol, you have to pay $26. We had a dividing door between our room and another, on our last night at about 3am, someone tried to get through said door. To say I laid an egg is an understatement! I’m not sure how the hotel could address this as it’s not their fault, but it is something to note that could happen! Overall, I enjoyed my stay for the most part (the money aspect in-particular I’ve found to be very stressful, it’s not like it’s a couple of quid, it’s £3000) but there are a few snags that need ironing out that I’ve mentioned above that would really enhance...
Read moreI wanted to love this place so much but it just fell short at every turn. I could not wait to check out. Rooms: while small they are very cute but need serious repair of almost everything. Everything is in bad shape. The mirrors, the shower is grimy, there’s stains on the headboards, paint chipping, marks on the walls and doors like scuffs etc. This place is constructed like an old apartment building. You can hear EVERYTHING going on around you. My first room was right by the pool so the sound of the DJ was just beating through the walls and windows. I called down to the front desk and they were so incredibly kind to relocate me. The 2nd night in the new room however I did not sleep even an hour. So insanely noisy. I couldn’t tell if it was from above me or in the walls but it sounded like someone was doing some type of repairs or moving. Loud, heavy, clanking every 20-30 mins. It was terrible. For this reason alone I would never book here again. The refrigerator in both the rooms was also SO loud and old. Why?
The pool: I walked down to the pool day one and there were maybe 10 other people there. It wasn’t crowded at all. But all of the chairs and places to sit for hotel guests were taken with towels, empty water bottles or bags etc. like people were coming back for them. I asked a pool staff member and she was like “yeah.. idk you just like find an open spot.” I told her it looked like every seat was taken and I didn’t want to take someone else's seat. And she said “do you want me to grab a host to go over daybed pricing with you?” I laughed. I’m one person. Why would I want to buy a day bed? Why would that be a hospitable response? I finally moved an old towel and sat in a chair and realized none of the chairs were actually still being used. They were just never cleared or cleaned by the staff from when people were previously getting up and leaving. It gave the vibe that the pool girls ONLY care about people who are booking tables. Which is fine but have SOMEONE responsible for maintaining the hotel guest area. The chairs were stained and tattered there are rust stains all over everything, the staff was so unhelpful and off putting. An amenity I’m paying for both nights but I never went back.
Beach access: loved that this was an option. Very easy to find and they give you a towel at the hotel to take with you. BUT again, once getting there. The staff was so unaccommodating, short and offered no explanation or guidance without me asking. The chairs looked like they had been to hell and back and the umbrellas too.
Staff: The front desk was great. Any time I needed anything they were very accommodating. However, I was never offered my champagne upon check in but the couple next to me was. Weird. Fine. My second day I called down for some toiletries so I could get ready before going out for the night about an hour - hour and a half before I was leaving. They didn’t get to my room until after I was already out for the night. I came back and they were on my sink.
This place seemed like it was great when it first opened but has been severely neglected since then. They clearly have not put a dime back into this place since then. I don’t imagine it staying open much longer at this rate. This place is a pig with lipstick on. Find...
