The Licking South Beach — Restaurant in Miami Beach

Terrible walked in nobody at the hostess stand then the security guard walks in who I passed by smoking weed on the corner telling me it would be ten min takes my number then after waiting over an hour asking multiple times watching security flirt will all the half dressed girls who just walked in and give them tables so they don’t have to wait ignoring us then multiple groups of people walking in and getting seated or seating them selves finally after an hour 1/2 of waiting we decided we will just order at the counter they don’t have half the food I ordered so just rings me up for random stuff then doesn’t know how to swipe my card after doing this first another 30 min I go and find the manager and tell him the lady at the counter doesn’t even know how to take my money asked if we could order alcohol ordered it then after waiting another 20 min demand my drink bc now I’m not only starving but dying of thirst I probably would have drank tap water i ordered a frozen mystery drink for 16$ I got a 5$ lemonade after chasing down the manager again he told me I can’t order alcohol at the register even thought I paid for it and I would have to go to the corner where there was a salad bar set up with alcohol and that’s where I could buy drinks waited another 30 mins and food was still not out he told me it would be a 20 min wait after I finally got them to learn how to swipe a card. So after another hour we find out our food had been sitting on the counter and they just forgot to bag it and tell us. Once got to the hotel to eat this 3 hour wait meal food was okay not what I ordered or what I paid for. This place was under my hotel. For the rest of my vacation I see the manager and security guard going in and out the back doing what looked like drug deals multiple times on multiple days. A total front staff of 2 1 the security guard 2 the lady at the counter who doesn’t know how to swipe a card and after alll this no I’m sorry apologies, a what can I do to fix this, discount nothing I still had to go over to the bar and purchase alcohol again don’t recommend I would say stay home and eat ramen you will be treated better...

The licking on south beach is a nice atmosphere & the vibe was on point with hip hop music. I rated it a 4 star bc our party wanted to try the dirty mystery drink that comes with alcohol but be careful with that bc the the bar waitress did not inform us that the price on the menu increases depending on the drink you purchase, and she did not inform us that they automatically give you a double shot with out asking you and that is also double the price. It was 3 of us and the prices was 15$, 25$, 60$ regular small size cups to equal 100$ & some after tax’s. She also did not tell me the price or show me a receipt before she asked me for my card. Once she gave me the hand held machine to leave a tip and sign is when I seen the amount but she had already charged my card and go tell me that she could not return, refund, or credit me anything back. She did explain that the drink was top shelf so with that being said, yes I understand why the increase but I feel she should of informed us of the prices since they all was different according to the drink and she should have presented a receipt before payment so there is no surprises later. The bar waitress was very argumentative and unprofessional with me bc I was questioning her on why was the one drink 60$. Every customer is not the same and she kept telling me about situations with old customers and comparing the drink with designer products. I will not disclose her name, but the solution could have been handled in a more professional manner.

Moreover, I must say the food waiter Nigel, customer service was on point with a pleasant attitude, and the manager nickname ‘MeMe’ was very professional, she was not argumentative, and her attitude was on point as what you need in any establishment. She gave us all drinks on her and offered us a discount on our food bill. She made us feel comfortable and we will definitely be back again.

A friend and me visited the Licking S. Beach on May 23rd. The male waiter hosted us. He wasn't at all mean or rude but he was an airhead who you had to ask a couple or more times for this or that and that is when he would reply, oh we don't have it, or it's out etc. He only came to check on us one time for to see how we were doing. When it was time to pay for the check, I had to re-read the charges and asked about the charges. The service fee is in fact the tip fee which HE DID NOT STATE. So, he got a tip on top of a tip, basically. I felt that even though he wasn't the best waiter, at least he was friendly.

Okay, on the day we were scheduled to leave, we went in that morning right after the restaurant opened and we should have exited as quickly as we visited. How are you out of items right after opening? Closing, yes, but you wouldn't even opened for an hour. There was a nice young lady who took our order and she was the one who replied of what they have and didn't have. On top of that, it does not state on the menu that the chicken sandwich is consisted of waffles as the bread and hell they were out of that at 11:00am in the morning. When the waitress returned with the machine to process payment, I asked her why was it so expensive (similar to the dishonest employee who got a double tip) and she said because of the taxes. I asked for an itemized receipt and she actually placed both my friend and my order together WITHOUT EVEN ASKING (MIND YOU THE PREVIOUS WAITER DID THE SAME BUT HE CORRECTED IT). This was after we explained that we wanted separate checks. She just commented that she was sorry. Didn't even ask to correct the issue and she kept what little change I was supposed to get back. YOU TRY TO SUPPORT BLACK BUSINESSES AND THIS IS THE TYPE OF SERVICE YOU GET. NEVER AGAIN....
