First Time ever in this kind of hotel thing ...........If you in an emergency with a flight delay with NO MONEY with absolutely nowhere to stay stranded out of state like me then yeah stay there. I paid $23 for a weekday night and No one should pay a dime over that period. Look harder for a better deal. Everything was “ok” until the morning of checkout . In the room I saw a BIG COCKROACH crawling on the side of the bed and bathroom when I woke up. Omg I almost died . I was scared out my mind. I cant believe I slept with them around me. Thank God at that point I was checking out and had everything packed ready to go. Yeah it may smell like bleach and clean at first but I see why. It has a well hidden infestation problem. The customer service was horrible with a capital H. The older Latino man that can pass as Italian was nasty. BE PREPARED for check in. It took 2 full hours for my room to be “ready” . Call and let them know your on the way! I only ate free breakfast which was good. Waffles with banana. Yes it’s true you can get free alcohol in the lobby on some nights. The rooms are small and bed sheets and towels looked dirty to me. Thank goodness I had my own . The shower was horrible as well so bring your flip flops! It’s was disgusting because the shower didn’t drain. So you stand in dirty water up to your ankles while you shower . I stayed in room 38 which was all women dorm. (Beware)
The Best and most amazing part is the LOCATION!!!!!!!! That is why I gave two Stars!!!! You will be ONE block from the beach. Your in the HEART of the BEACH. All the restaurants bars clubs are right there. Your basically on the strip! Another great thing is the people who stay there . Surprisedly nice looking hard working middle class people stay there. I can’t lie I did feel comfortable around everyone. Couples, Business men and women and just normal people on vacation will be there . (But still lock your belongings to be on the safe side) . The food wasn’t bad . And really nice cold AC in the room. Basically you get what you pay for . Overall it’s stayable for a night or two . And to go back you can’t beat the...
Read moreI’ve been staying at the South Beach Rooms and Hostel for about 5 weeks. A few weeks ago my roommate went through one of the top bunks and landed right on top of me.
About a week later while I was sleeping in a different room now, and one of the support beams came down and hit me while I was sleeping. A few weeks later and they still haven’t fixed it and continue to try and put people up above me on a broken bunk which is totally unsafe.
Because I spoke up and said it’s unsafe, they now won’t renew me and are kicking me out, which is retaliatory.
I’m a full time student attending MDC. I came down here and am staying here for school purposes. Now I’m a displaced homeless college student… until I figure something else out. Obviously, I have limited resources being a student.
This place is totally unethical and unprofessional. Nothing is as advertised and the owner won’t replace broken bunk beds. They advertise free breakfast… you might get it and only have a 30 minute window. Half the time they don’t have milk or cereal… but they advertise free breakfast.
The place is nothing like it looks online. It’s false advertising to the max. The staff and owners are rude and treat people terribly. They shouldn’t have a license to operate this establishment.
I just filed complaints with the Florida DBPR and the BBB. Calling attorneys now.
The owner is clueless. No sitting area out back. The bench in front is taken in at night. The staff is rude and the owner and his wife are terrible people. ive watched her cause an auto accident trying to dominate and control vehicles and people in the street. She literally blocked traffic and blew her horn for about 5 minutes, then a car smashed into her with a baby in the backseat.
She’s an abhorrent person, irregardless of her inability to run a professional and clean hostel.
Do not bring children, elderly, minorities, etc… you’ll be profiled and treated like dirt.
It’s unsafe and unclean. Hot rooms, flooding air conditioning units, it’s disgusting.
Pictures of the broken bunk and where the beams hit me in...
Read moreSome things we admire are remotely located, like the Grand Canyon. Other things are centrally located like the Eiffel Tower in the heart of Paris. Well, South Beach Rooms and Hostel is perfectly located. On 9th Avenue in SoBe, this Hostel is an Artist’s gem. Its musings are vast and for travelers in general its amenities are welcoming and fulfilling.
First off, you are a 6-minute walk from the beach and workout space along the promenade. Pizza Rustica and 7/11 are conveniently located to your immediate west on Washington Avenue which is a tourist strip for dining and boutique shopping. Interestingly, for locals and shop owners, it’s a place to meet and talk about all of the nuanced and unique world travelers who frequent their small businesses. You’re sure to find some of the best local coffee and pizza on Washington Avenue and near The Hostel.
Once checked you feel like you’re finally in Miami. People are partying in the lobby, a VJ playing YouTube jams from the big screen, and coffee and tea are available while you wait to check-in.
At reception, you’ll be greeted by Oriana, Marcia, or Cat and you’re in great hands. They are a part of a hands-on staff that cares about travelers.
Larissa makes breakfast. Up before the world it seems like, I caught her at 4 am one day preparing the coffee and waffle batter that she serves as a part of the complementary continental breakfast. I was up early going to run and she made my morning before she made breakfast with her huge smile and “Buenos Dias Roberto!” She and Javi round out a service that brilliantly tends to the needs of those staying in their accommodation. They’re all bilingual, service-oriented and working hard to see to it that you have a great time.
In the common area which is located downstairs, you’ll find couches, a communal flatscreen where there’s a Netflix account and other streaming services. At your disposal are basketballs, beach toys, and board games for indoor or outdoor fun. This was hands down one of my favorite...
