We actually left before our last day.Upon arrival we were shocked to see the horrible quality of the matress and pillows cleanliness. They didn’t have protective covers on them like most hostels and were stained to the point I would of thrown them out. The pictures speak for themselves… bugs galore all over the room and in the kitchen area when opening the drawers where we are supposed to keep our food. Also the kitchen does not have enough utensils for the amount of guests.the only blanket you receive is a thin sheet and nothing more, the air conditioning is so loud it’s unbearable and the vents need cleaned , they even look like mold.Unfortunately our stay is not reimbursable, otherwise we would have simply left elsewhere immediately.Overall some of the staff were friendly and helpful, they also offered to change our rooms for a cleaner one, others just didn’t look happy to be there and weren’t very welcoming. the cleaning staff was really good in daily cleaning of the floor and bathroom area.Breakfast was okay we had waffles and coffee, but of course there was a cockroach next to the cream and sugar… another problem was that we are supposed to have a locker that locks in our room but all of them DO NOT lock. They were ALL broken somehow so we had to constantly carry our important things with us at all times…also in the bathroom there is NOTHING to hang your towel and clothes which was very annoying i had to put my clean stuff in sink while showering, not practical. please also note that there is NO PARKING included in your stay.which we were not told of at the moment of reservation and cost us 20$ US per day two streets away. Please make this clear for future travellers because this adds to traveling cost. Overall if you somewhat enjoy some comfort in your travels I would pass up this hostel until improvements are made, the look and wall art is awesome and inviting but beware.

DO NOT STAY HERE When first arriving at the hostel it seemed nice enough. The staff was nice and there was an event later that night we were invited to right when we got there. We booked a private quad. However we encountered our first issue when we went to unpack and shower and there was no water pressure or hot water. They sent maintenance up quickly to resolve the issue. However that night and the following days we saw many many roaches. In the common areas, in our room, all alive. Roaches were crawling on peoples grocery bags, and according to an EMPLOYEE we overheard they live in the air fryer as well. When we complained to the front desk they seemed very concerned and gave us the managers number to send the evidence to on WhatsApp. They also assured us they would ask about possible discount or compensation seeing as they were breaching their habitability contract. We then received NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION from the hostel regarding this issue, the number we texted never responded and the front desk staff wasn’t able to do anything because the manager is not in on weekends. We checked out Sunday as early as we could get out of there. Save your money. ( whatever deal you think you will get here isn’t that great because you have to pay outrageously for parking so stay somewhere that includes that.) You might as well sleep in your car in the parking garage and shower at a truck stop. South Beach is pretty and it’s walkable but expensive.

Great location but that is allllll that they have to offer. The rudest staff. Visitors are money to them and that’s all; nothing welcoming about them. My personal perception: extremely dirty and barely functional. My friend’s pillow had blood on it, the floor was disgusting in our room (I have something stuck to the bottom of my foot that I can’t get off and it’s grossing me out), mattress had a giant bend in it so I would slide down to the bare metal bed frame through the night and wake up. Airplane blankets are thicker than these were… One of the ladies in my room said she entered in the evening and when she turned the lights on, cockroaches scattered. Sitting in the couch in the lobby right now and even the couch is gross… A woman in line at checkout was upset because she had reserved a bed for herself by putting her tag on the bed to mark it as taken and went out (like any of us would do). She returned to find someone else in her bed with no spare beds available. The front desk guy was avoiding eye contact, speaking over her, and smirking. Then he made a racist joke. Yikes for us all to witness. Anyway, I will not be back and I urge visitors to book elsewhere. $5 bag storage even if you are checking in/out.

First Time ever in this kind of hotel thing ...........If you in an emergency with a flight delay with NO MONEY with absolutely nowhere to stay stranded out of state like me then yeah stay there. I paid $23 for a weekday night and No one should pay a dime over that period. Look harder for a better deal. Everything was “ok” until the morning of checkout . In the room I saw a BIG COCKROACH crawling on the side of the bed and bathroom when I woke up. Omg I almost died . I was scared out my mind. I cant believe I slept with them around me. Thank God at that point I was checking out and had everything packed ready to go. Yeah it may smell like bleach and clean at first but I see why. It has a well hidden infestation problem. The customer service was horrible with a capital H. The older Latino man that can pass as Italian was nasty. BE PREPARED for check in. It took 2 full hours for my room to be “ready” . Call and let them know your on the way! I only ate free breakfast which was good. Waffles with banana. Yes it’s true you can get free alcohol in the lobby on some nights. The rooms are small and bed sheets and towels looked dirty to me. Thank goodness I had my own . The shower was horrible as well so bring your flip flops! It’s was disgusting because the shower didn’t drain. So you stand in dirty water up to your ankles while you shower . I stayed in room 38 which was all women dorm. (Beware)

The Best and most amazing part is the LOCATION!!!!!!!! That is why I gave two Stars!!!! You will be ONE block from the beach. Your in the HEART of the BEACH. All the restaurants bars clubs are right there. Your basically on the strip! Another great thing is the people who stay there . Surprisedly nice looking hard working middle class people stay there. I can’t lie I did feel comfortable around everyone. Couples, Business men and women and just normal people on vacation will be there . (But still lock your belongings to be on the safe side) . The food wasn’t bad . And really nice cold AC in the room. Basically you get what you pay for . Overall it’s stayable for a night or two . And to go back you can’t beat the...

I’ve been staying at the South Beach Rooms and Hostel for about 5 weeks. A few weeks ago my roommate went through one of the top bunks and landed right on top of me.

About a week later while I was sleeping in a different room now, and one of the support beams came down and hit me while I was sleeping. A few weeks later and they still haven’t fixed it and continue to try and put people up above me on a broken bunk which is totally unsafe.

Because I spoke up and said it’s unsafe, they now won’t renew me and are kicking me out, which is retaliatory.

I’m a full time student attending MDC. I came down here and am staying here for school purposes. Now I’m a displaced homeless college student… until I figure something else out. Obviously, I have limited resources being a student.

This place is totally unethical and unprofessional. Nothing is as advertised and the owner won’t replace broken bunk beds. They advertise free breakfast… you might get it and only have a 30 minute window. Half the time they don’t have milk or cereal… but they advertise free breakfast.

The place is nothing like it looks online. It’s false advertising to the max. The staff and owners are rude and treat people terribly. They shouldn’t have a license to operate this establishment.

I just filed complaints with the Florida DBPR and the BBB. Calling attorneys now.

The owner is clueless. No sitting area out back. The bench in front is taken in at night. The staff is rude and the owner and his wife are terrible people. ive watched her cause an auto accident trying to dominate and control vehicles and people in the street. She literally blocked traffic and blew her horn for about 5 minutes, then a car smashed into her with a baby in the backseat.

She’s an abhorrent person, irregardless of her inability to run a professional and clean hostel.

Do not bring children, elderly, minorities, etc… you’ll be profiled and treated like dirt.

It’s unsafe and unclean. Hot rooms, flooding air conditioning units, it’s disgusting.

Pictures of the broken bunk and where the beams hit me in...

Some things we admire are remotely located, like the Grand Canyon. Other things are centrally located like the Eiffel Tower in the heart of Paris. Well, South Beach Rooms and Hostel is perfectly located. On 9th Avenue in SoBe, this Hostel is an Artist’s gem. Its musings are vast and for travelers in general its amenities are welcoming and fulfilling.

First off, you are a 6-minute walk from the beach and workout space along the promenade. Pizza Rustica and 7/11 are conveniently located to your immediate west on Washington Avenue which is a tourist strip for dining and boutique shopping. Interestingly, for locals and shop owners, it’s a place to meet and talk about all of the nuanced and unique world travelers who frequent their small businesses. You’re sure to find some of the best local coffee and pizza on Washington Avenue and near The Hostel.

Once checked you feel like you’re finally in Miami. People are partying in the lobby, a VJ playing YouTube jams from the big screen, and coffee and tea are available while you wait to check-in.

At reception, you’ll be greeted by Oriana, Marcia, or Cat and you’re in great hands. They are a part of a hands-on staff that cares about travelers.

Larissa makes breakfast. Up before the world it seems like, I caught her at 4 am one day preparing the coffee and waffle batter that she serves as a part of the complementary continental breakfast. I was up early going to run and she made my morning before she made breakfast with her huge smile and “Buenos Dias Roberto!” She and Javi round out a service that brilliantly tends to the needs of those staying in their accommodation. They’re all bilingual, service-oriented and working hard to see to it that you have a great time.

In the common area which is located downstairs, you’ll find couches, a communal flatscreen where there’s a Netflix account and other streaming services. At your disposal are basketballs, beach toys, and board games for indoor or outdoor fun. This was hands down one of my favorite...
