Do not recommend this hotel. Did not feel safe and sold a false bill of goods. We arrived at the Hotel and upon check-in were told that our room was “In the other building.” We had booked this hotel based off of the pictures they have listed across multiple platforms and expected this to be our experience. We were walked down the street across an alley to a separate building with our room. Immediately, we noticed the crowd around this building was not what we were expecting. Upon getting to the room, it was not made over from the last guest and the attendant left us standing in the dirty hallway while he made a key for another room. We decided that this was not the accommodations we were expecting and went to the front desk to ask to be moved into the building that they advertised on their website. The other employee behind the desk did not know how to work the computer system so we waited for the first attendant to return, however, they would not move our room. This hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel and, truthfully this is outrageous (Especially when compared to the other 4 star hotels in Miami Beach). The building we were in had an elevator that could barely fit my wife and I with our luggage and the “lobby” (a.k.a. unmanned security desk) was not much bigger. One day during our stay it was raining and we would have liked to wait out the rain at the hotel bar, however since we were in another building, we had no access to the lobby without walking a block in the pouring rain (You also have no access to the rooftop pool/bar from this building). The hotel has recently advertised their classic car on Ocean Drive. It is a nice touch and you even get a free light show for all of your pictures because half of the Miami Beach Police Department is stationed outside your door to keep an eye on the unruly crowd. There was not a single time during our stay that we did not have to walk through multiple people doing drugs on the street to get inside. In fact, only a day after we checked out, three people were wounded in a shooting outside the door. Video of this chaotic scene can be found online. In my younger years, I could have stayed out until the morning hours, however now it was rather inconvenient listening to music blasting from speakers on the street until 2am, hearing every door shut, and every footstep upstairs. I can genuinely say this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had and urge others to find different accommodations. If you are able to make it to the pool, it’s not bad and the bartender is pretty good.

Let me preface by saying I don't often give 3 star reviews. We did enjoy our stay at the Tony Hotel and the location is excellent. The room we stayed in was nice - nothing too fancy, but the linens were nice and the shower was hot. There were bathrobes in the closet and lots of hangers to hang your clothes. The rooftop pool is a great perk - the lounge chairs are first come, first serve and oftentimes there are chairs reserved with items but not enough people to have reserved them. We did find chairs when needed, just not always enough for our family of 4. The pool is very small, but not many people use it, so it was great for us. The pool is literally the perfect temp and is a saltwater pool. We were there every day with our kids. The service was not great. We did have one outstanding server at the Wish Cafe - I didn't catch her name, but she was so kind, prompt and wonderful with my children. The bartenders upstairs, the front desk staff and the bellhop were not at all helpful. In fact, the bellhop was upset by the amount of luggage we had (6 pieces for 4 of us, most were carry-on sized except 2 and this was the end of a 3 week trip for us, which my husband explained several times) and told my husband "You sure have a lot of luggage" several times. Then he held out his hand and said, "You can pay me now." So my husband asked how much and he said. "I don't know..5, 10 dollars?" So my husband gave him cash and then he said, "Of course it's up to you if you want to pay me" which my husband wasn't thrilled about...and then after taking the money, the bellhop asked if my husband wanted to take the luggage up to our room since there was "so much of it." I wondered if we maybe just got off on the wrong leg, but when I asked the bartender who'd seen me multiple times if he could use his card to get me to the 2nd floor where our room was (the elevator only works if you have your key card - my husband and kids were in our room and I had run out for some snacks and forgot my card)...the bartender stared at me and didn't say anything. Perhaps there was a language barrier, but it was incredibly awkward (my husband ended up coming to get me). We chatted with some other guests who had similar issues. The hotel is clean, great location, small but good pool/pool area, the free beach chairs and towels a block up on the beach is also nice...but the service isn't great.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a girl's weekend and the location was incredible. We walked EVERYWHERE and it was a quick walk to the beach. They have a partnership with a company to provide beach chairs and towels, which was quite nice. The hotel is boutique style and part of the Art Deco District, which for me being an artsy gal, loved. The rooftop pool is quite small, but very cool being on the roof and seeing the ocean in the distance. Having a pool happy hour was also top notch, even though we both fell asleep feeling cozy in the sun and our margs watered down lol. The only kicker was our room. I was excited to escape being a mom of 2 and getting solid sleep but that was not going to happen, ha. The walls are quite thin, but understand it is part of the historic district. We were placed in a room that was actually outside the main hallway, so you went through an exit door and our room was right there. Do not stay in room 223 or 323 unless you want to hear every single person who uses the staircase and come in and out (which felt like everyone did) ha. The noise on the street is expected for a "party" type area but it really was unfortunate how loud it ended up being, which I understand that the hotel can't help! I would suggest somehow having a softer close on those doors or give a warning about that particular location of the room. The food we had for lunch was delicious and they have an adorable outside patio. I loved the entrance of the hotel having a HUGE porch with soft furniture to have coffee on in the morning and just relax. The staff was amazing and very responsive when asking questions even before arriving. Everything else was perfect and honestly would be torn to decide to stay again... But this momma craves good sleep, esp being a light sleeper 😬 Thank you for the stay!

The Tony is another lovely art deco period property in South Beach. Facing both Collins and Ocean Drive from the two buildings it occupies |Both seemed well maintained throughout all the parts we used. |With the bar and restaurant betwixt as well as the veranda and outdoor seating area.||We stayed in the Ocean Drive part of the hotel with a door between the parts of the News Cafe.|It was a nice area and although only the other end of the block I liked being able to walk straight out to Ocean drive and over to the beach, however it must add all of 60-120 second coming from the Collins end.||We had a king Delux which was spacious with a bar area, a large room with desk and a set of drawers, wardrobes (with robes and umbrella etc) and a very large sofa bench type affair. We could see over to the ocean from the window despite being on the side which was nice to weather and sunrise check(as literally a couple of minutes over to the beach and watch the sun come up)||Good attention to detail with the retro vibe and matching fabrics and the like throughout in vibrant orange. Little touches like lights in the wardrobe also and mosaic brass handles. |Certainly wasn’t as issue to unpack with room to spare and to get the case out the way. The long bench built into the bed frame was a nice design touch also and a handy perch putting your shoes on, although having caught it with my calf when passing (cutting my leg to the point I had a one and half inch bleeding tear) I wish it had either corner bumpers, a taper or rounded edges. One to watch if you have children with you. ||Good blinds for day and night with blackout Roman and a sun filter and/or privacy blind for the day, and opening widows which are increasingly hard to find these days of air conditioned hermetically sealed boxes. Very welcome. ||Large bathroom with a massive shower with rainfall and seating.|Very pleasant room overall - though the vintage vibe not might suit all, in which case the Collins rooms looked to be an entirely different affair to suit those. We liked the ocean drive side just fine though.||Had a few issues with amenities not working, the team were super responsive sorting these which was great and five coffee machines later we had one that worked, the iron only took one attempt :)||Housekeeping was friendly and timely and kept the room looking lovely and fresh. This is one area that could do with a little attention however (especially as the omitted consumables in room were all we used of the ‘resort fee’ forgoing beach chairs etc) - a check sheet or similar would perhaps be helpful as the replacement of consumables was highly variable e.g. no shower gel x3 days then some supplied, regular coffee and decaf some days, no decaf on others, sometimes enough cups left, sometimes not, maybe enough whitener to match the number of coffee, normally 2/3:4 ratio
etc. There wasn’t one day anything was replenished consistently. Likewise not sure but the two bottled water in room on arrival seemed to be it, no more appeared that was for sure.||So not the best value from resort fee offerings truth be told
.|
however atypically staying at the hotel also qualifies you for free entry to Wynwood Walls and discount in the shop, suffice to say a couple of hundred dollars was spent there ||I am sure that had we popped along the street to reception (as phone didn’t work), as with the other issues, it would have been promptly remedied. Although being on holiday I really can’t be bothered to constantly chase up on basics.||So that slight wrinkle / area for improvement aside overall this was a lovely place to stay for a week and we enjoyed our stay in the round. ||We didn’t try the restaurant or the news cafe unusually (although you did get discount as a hotel guest)as we tended to stroll out down the road, as there is such a wide variety of places to eat in this particular part of south beach. ||We did try a drink at the bar and well made cocktail which was nice enough - though being on the side between the two buildings, and lacking very much ambience (and with music on at a couple of notches over the pleasant line) it sadly didn’t endear itself - contrasted to last year where we sat out on another hotels verandah which faced ocean drive for drinks and sometimes food each day. Also the bar area seats weren’t particularly comfortable or in with the aesthetic of the other part of the verandah, would have been nice to see the white and tropical theme continued throughout to give it a bit more of a ‘feel’||Again this is something of a matter of taste and being tucked away from the sun along the side for a few hours might suit some just perfectly. It’s a shame there wasn’t a lounge area for guests staying at the ocean drive side along the corner where the news cafe spans the front of this part of the hotel.||Overall definitely somewhere to consider if you are staying in south beach - especially if you don’t want somewhere with an anodyne interior refit such you could be in a bland mainstream hotel chain anywhere. We would definitely stay there again (Ocean Drive side) simply for the clean spacious retro rooms and lovely location (though i will pack shin guards in case the bench goes...

I have no idea how this place got a four star rating because the level of service and ambiance do not warrant that rating. The good thing is that the hotel is centrally located on South Beach which is across the street and around many restaurants and shops including CVS. There are two buildings at opposite ends of the street from each other. If you’re in the Ocean Dr building you will have no real front desk and the entrance to the building is in front of a restaurant. The check in process was very slow and antiquated with literal photocopying of your ID using a paper copier instead of scanning. The front desk person was not welcoming at all. No information was provided to me at check in about services, check out, or breakfast. And btw if you want to store your luggage there after check out after a certain time they charge you a $10 fee— in all my years of traveling I have never heard of this. Anyway, at check in I had to ask about parking and was given very vague instructions and condescendingly told not to lose the parking card. The bellhop took us to our room which was down the street and watched me pull my own luggage with my child in tow then waited in my room for a tip which is pretty ridiculous. The public parking lot is at least one avenue from the hotel (technically one street over but not one block away)— if you have a lot of luggage you will have to pull the car up to the hotel first or else you will be walking and carrying a lot of stuff. The hotel restaurant wait staff at Wish were also not friendly towards us and did not offer anything beyond bringing us the check as soon as we ate our food. Menu options are limited to four items unless you pay for the buffet. The hotel room itself is large and bathroom large with a good view. However, there is dust along the baseboards and the towels they have are half stained and torn and mirrors were not cleaned. The hotel includes admission to Wynwood walls which is nice but no one told me about it and I only knew because I saw it on the website. Also there is no microwave in the room or anywhere that I could find. Normally I wouldn’t need it but there are very few eating options before 7:30 am so I had to heat food with a hairdryer which I’ve never done in my life. Not exactly a luxury vacation.

In addition this area is not at all kid friendly and neither is the hotel. I saw a lot of people look at us with disdain. There are numerous homeless people on the street smoking weed and my son was attacked by an unleashed dog on the beach on the first day. There are lots of police patrolling the area so I did feel safe walking around.

The manager of the hotel called me on the second day to ask how things were going and after relaying all of this I think even he was horrified and offered me a $75 refund (I did not ask to speak with him). Frankly I had debated checking out since the first day so I do appreciate his gesture in an attempt to made amends. I was feeling better until the next day when I asked for two bottles of water and was told that they only provide it at check in then there’s no more. Seriously? Charging a resort fee daily and then nickel and dime over two bottles of water? They eventually gave it to me but the person who brought it was really nasty to us and again restated that only the first two bottles are free. Just goes to show you what kind of service or lack thereof there is here.

They are counting every dollar and not leaving extra TP, refilling coffee supplies etc. at check out it was again super slow with front desk person clicking through a million buttons on the computer and even though I had over $200 of additional charges they did not ask if I wanted to review my bill until I had asked. There I discovered that the manager only comped us $40 not $75. I didn’t even argue and just left and btw they didn’t even say goodbye or thank you. Honestly we had a great trip overall except every interaction with the hotel staff was negative and really marred the experience. There are obviously universal systemic...

If I could give 0 Stars I would
Let me start with check in, me and my friend decided to go to Miami to celebrate her birthday and stay at this hotel. Never have ever had worse service from a hotel in my life. We had an early flight that morning, so we knew our room would not be ready until later, so we came in, left our luggage with bell services, and decided to go to the pool while we wait to be notified our room was ready. After being at the pool for about an hour or so, not a single staff member came up to us seeing if we needed anything (food, drinks, or water). The majority of the seats with umbrellas are “reserved” for those that rent out the cabanas (which we never saw anyone renting out). We sat at the pool for about 6 hours until we decided this wait was long enough and we needed to check on the status of our room. We go to the front desk and they tell us “oh your room has been ready!” We never got an email, phone call, or text that it was ready. After being told this they proceeded to tell us we will be needing to pay “$X” amount for our room on top of a $300 resort fee and another $30 for each day we are there
we booked through Expedia and was told our resort fee was only supposed to be $100. We ended up having to speak to the manager and showed him the charge we are expecting, he thankfully reasoned with us, but while putting payment through we began to make comments such as “I might as well charge a Ferrari to your account too.” As well as making rude comments about where we are from insinuating we are from a bad area of our state. Bell service brought us to our room on Ocean Dr. and we ended up tipping him about $5, he looked at the money, made a nasty face, and left. A few days later my friend had accidentally cut her leg and was bleeding a lot! She called the desk to ask for a couple of bandaids and we did not receive them until about 20 MINUTES after she called! The same bell service employee that brought us to our room ended up giving us the bandaids, after I got the bandaids from him he ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME and walked away! We had also called to ask for some more waters and they said “we don’t do that. The first two are complimentary.” Absolutely ridiculous. In check out day, we had a late flight that night, so we check out of our room and went to the pool to relax before our flight. Me and my friend asked the staff at the pool for a chair with an umbrella and after many deep sighs and eye rolls from the staff they allowed us to use 2 of the “reserved” cabana chairs. The girl at the pool said “if we rent out a cabana you girls need to find different seats. About an hour later 2 more men come to the pool looking for chairs with umbrellas. The girl then seats them in the next 2 “reserved” chairs next to us.
