I, along with a guest of mine, were checked in by Josie - I believe that's her name. She worked the 3pm-11:30pm shifts during my stay there. Was the check in process how it should be done? No, it was not. We were not greeted with "hello, welcome". We were greeted with "next, your id and card please" - that's not how you should greet your guests. My main issues were with the housekeeping services. When I checked into room 522 the bed was nicely done, the pillows were presentable, although they have seen their better days and should be replacement immediately cause they have lost their shape, the linen was clean. What I did not expect and was shocked by was the fact that there was a hair tie from a previous guest that was left by the nightstand next to the bathroom wall where the phone is located on top of. There was no washcloths in the bathroom the foul smelling 2 in 1 body wash bottle was empty and there was sand all over the floor around the bed. I am not sure whether you have RA who are self inspectors or whether you have room inspectors or housekeeping supervisors, but that room would have never passed my inspection and would be flipped as a VR room, absolutely not!
On 7/4 I have asked for washcloths via the chat option on the Bonvoy app and I said that when the RA comes to service the room, could she please leave some. I was told, by one of your agents that there is no daily housekeeping service, despite the website and the Bonvoy app stating the opposite, instead I had a houseman come in and bring me some washcloths. The following day, the 5th of July is what I had the most problems with and I was shocked that this was even allowed to happen in the first place. I have vacated my room on the morning of the 5th at around 8 am, I took off my DND signed, went on a walk on the beach, went to Starbucks for coffee and just walked around for a bit. I came back to my room at around 10:30am, the room was not serviced. Before heading out for breakfast at around 11am I sent a message request via the chat in the Bonvoy app asking for housekeeping. I was assured that housekeeping was notified and that someone will service my room soon. I have spoken with one of the RAs that I met on the hallway, I don't know her name, she was a very sweet and friendly lady, dark skinned with a Caribbean accent and an afro, I asked her if she could service the rooms that I and my guest were in. I have also notified the front desk via the chat that I have asked one of the RA on the hallways. They were made aware of it.
Imagine my surprise when I came back to my room at 1:06 pm and saw that my room has still not be cleaned. I immediately used the chat to ask what happened and I have also called the front desk and had spoken with a female asking what happened. She said that she doesn't know why my room was not serviced but that she will notify housekeeping once again and that someone will be there shortly. No one came to my room until 2:30pm. This is three and a half hours after I had requested service. What I do not understand is how is it possible for a small hotel of only 202 rooms that are quite tiny, a hotel that also does not provide housekeeping services on daily basis, to have a guest wait almost 5 hours in total to have their rooms clean. I say 5 hours in total because I was gone from 8am till 10:30am and then from 11am until 1pm and then someone came in at 2:30pm. This is just shameful and completely unacceptable! Mind you, that when this lady came, she did not even knock on the door, she just barged in as I was lying on the bed. One would think, great, someone finally clean the room, even though it took that long, right? Wrong, once again there was no washcloths left in the room. The linen was not changed and the top sheet that had a coffee stain was flipped around and tucked in the foot of the bed.
My experience at this property was nothing short of a let down and a disappointment. Shame on the upper management - Nicole, and shame on HHM for allowing this to happen. Kevin was a pleasure to deal with, other staff,...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. The lack of service here is absolutely ridiculous. I stayed at the Moxy South Beach this past memorial weekend which was undeniably crazy. I left a few items (2, 24oz bottles of Living Proof Shampoo and Conditioner which are large bottles and are $70 each and my own memory foam pillow that I need because of a recent injury and is the only thing that has been helping my neck and back along with a silk pillowcase which together are $300 totaling up to $500 worth of items) after checking out of my room but upon realizing only 3 hours after checking out, I quickly called the hotel at 2pm requesting to check lost and found and talking to the manager to see if the housekeeping turned my things in. The girl said the housekeeping wouldn't be able to be contacted until they were done cleaning the other rooms which is ridiculous considering they could just call the maid who cleaned my room, so I had to wait until 6pm so I waited and waited to get a call back and nothing. I called the hotel, still the same day of my checkout, at 9:30pm because no one had called me back, only to find out that no one did anything. The next girl at the front desk said she checked lost and found and nothing was there, she also checked the housekeeping system and said nothing extra was left either meaning that the housekeeping stole my belongings. She said that she emailed the manager and the head of housekeeping and they would respond next day. Tuesday rolled around and no one responded so I drove myself to Miami because front desk, yet again, was still not helping the THIRD time calling. Upon arriving to the hotel, which was a 2 hour drive might I add, I was greeted by the front desk and they told me they would contact the head of housekeeping, the 1st receptionist said that the head of housekeeping was now talking to the person who cleaned my room. I waited over an hour and walked back to the front desk as I had heard nothing and asked what was going on and why it had taken so long, I figured maybe someone took my things home and they were going to magically make those items reappear. The other receptionist said she would call the head of housekeeping and after she hung up the phone, she told me the head of housekeeping was looking for the girl who cleaned my room. Ironic that the 1st receptionist said that the head of cleaning was already talking to the maid no? So I waited 30 more minutes, walked back up and the receptionist finally called the manager out. The manager gave me $100 credit towards the shampoo and conditioner as she understood how expensive it was and then told me that she would be on high alert for the pillow as it was a personal item and by hotel policy, it should've been reported to lost and found. She said she was going to call the linens place which didn't make any sense because why would they send not only something they know doesn't belong at the hotel to get it cleaned? its a memory foam pillow so it has an obvious weight difference and has a silk pillowcase on it so its not hard to miss. I tried calling the hotel yesterday but it went straight to voicemail and said that the voice mailbox was full. I am extremely disappointed with how everything has turned out. I want this figured out and to the maid who stole my things,...
Read moreThe staff at Moxy south beach is the least professional staff I’ve ever encountered at a Marriott property.
To start, we indicated in the app we’d be arriving at noon and hoped for early check in. Totally understand that early check in is not guaranteed and accept that. However, when we subbed we stood by the host stand and waited for acknowledgment. It never came. We stood waiting for someone to say “we’ll be right with you” or anything of that nature. Never happened. Eventually someone walked in and right up to the host stand and we realized they had no intention of helping us unless we went up to them.
When we attempted to check in they said there was nothing available and wouldn’t be for awhile. We asked to get on the list they said sure. However they never took any of our info or asked for anything. We went for a quick walk and realized they had no way to contact us or know who we were.
So we went back and song in line again to ask about the early check in. The host rudely stated there were 16 people ahead of us in the early check in list indicating it wasn’t worth his effort to take our info. We demanded they take our info and place us on our list. We then went and sat in the lobby for 3 hours. I went back up to the host stand to ask about the status and they informed us our room had been ready for awhile. When asked why we weren’t notified our room was ready they attempted to say it was the busiest day of the year
Which is an obvious and wild lie. When I asked if this random January weekend was busier than swim week the host laughed and said no way. Didn’t seem to realize it contradicted his excuse.
To make up for not informing us that our room was ready and for such poor service checking in they gave us coupons for the bar and restaurant.
Coupons that only worked for very specific drinks and only after we spent $30 not including the cost of the drinks. When I ordered a house margarita and use the coupon I was told it’s only valid for a Serena margarita. How the house margarita at Serena’s is different than a Serena margarita is unclear to me.
We used the app to request more towels because they don’t replace those daily. We requested those at 9am, by 3pm they were marked completed..but there were no towels. We had to go to the front desk and beg for the towels.
This is also very much a party hotel which can be fun but don’t expect to be allowed to sleep. We had a dozen girls in our hallway shouting at each other for 2 hours at 1-2am. Front desk did nothing about that. You’d think 1am would be a quiet time but not at Moxy Miami.
The rooms are tiny. Most cruise ship rooms are larger. Be aware of that. There’s no closet or even a spot to place your bag.
Because the rooms are so tiny there’s only room for one tiny trash can which fills up rapidly and since there is no housekeeping you’re just stuck with filled trash cans for your weekend.
It’s a shame, the first time we went to Moxy was wonderful but this time was tragically bad. I would not recommend unless it’s the only place in South Beach.
The stay was so bad I might quit Marriott altogether.
I also went to the comedy show and there are more reviews for the comedy show than there were people in the audience. So they’re likely from the staff and not...
