I had an amazing opportunity to have dined at Dando La Brassa twice for dinner and once for lunch all this week! I heard from Tru by Hilton that the newly opened restaurant was very good, and a short 2 or 3 block walk to 1836 SW AVE, in Miami. I was in town for a 6 day course and one day for lunch ordered what I thought was a simple hamburger and beer for lunch. The Brassa burger was an entire Latin American meal between the buns. It was done perfectly as ordered, and out of this world. The waitress Vanessa was constantly available to check on my needs, which were all met. The friendliness of the staff was obvious. The next meal was a dinner of Mojito Chicken marinated in brine then broiled crisp, with Delicious sauce on side, served with black beans and exotic grilled vegetables (each one with its own unique flavor). The meal was accompanied by a Pinot Grigio that was crisp and delicious. They do not serve liquor but offer Sangria, wines, beer, and a variety of juices and soft drinks. My most recent meal there (I can’t stop returning) was last night. I started with incredible appy of chicken wings in white garlic sauce and entree was pulpo or octopus , cooked to perfection then lightly charred on grill over bed of Various fried plantains and fresh vegetables- a generous portion and superb. Again the service was impeccable, Miguel the waiter was always available, very affable, and offered a tempting list of coffees, teas and desserts but I could not partake having enjoyed so much Venezuelan and Peruvian influenced cuisine. The atmosphere is unique, with high ceilings, with indirect illumination of the many high above hanging potted plants that transport you to a tranquil subtropical environment. A unique gem that can’t be missed with the bright yellow umbrellas surrounding the building. And that shouldn’t be missed because of the exquisite food and service! Also, the prices are reasonable and...
Read moreIt has been a minute since my last review. As always, I only sit down to write one of these, if I feel I had a 1 star or a 5 star experience. Happy to say this was definitely the latter. As a rule, I never write a restaurant review if I have only been there once. In this case I have been to "Dando La Brasa" 3 times and each time I was blown away by their food, their customer service, and their ambiance.
Let's start with the last one. This particular spot used to be a Liquor Store, but you would never know that now. They remodeled it into a quaint, cozy, restaurant where you can actually see the staff preparing you food. The layout is open, so it makes it look bigger than it actually is.
Moving on to the food. There is only one word needed to describe it and that is delicious. The portions are the perfect size, the chicken was juicy, the steak was incredible, both the cut and temperature were right on point, and the soup was hot with just the right amount of veggies and chicken.
Finally the service is incredible, the last time I was there I was helped by Juliana, she was friendly, fast, and very efficient. As I was leaving, I made a comment about how great their hot sauce was, and she brought me a little container so I could take some home. It was the spiciest hot sauce I have ever had, and full disclosure here, I eat spicey every day, and up until that day the spiciest I had ever had before was in an Indian Restaurant in London, but this one topped it.
This place is 5 stars through and through and if you have read my other reviews, you will see that I am a harsh critic. Having worked in restaurants as a young man I am very critical and only give praise when it is due. If you are near Brickell and want the most for your buck "Dando La Brasa" is a place you...
Read moreAuthentic Latin Flavor Cooked Over Wood Charcoal. A True Hidden Gem!
This restaurant is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves traditional Latin food full of rich, authentic flavors. While it’s best known for its perfectly grilled chicken, the menu goes far beyond that, offering a wide variety of delicious Latin dishes that feel like home-cooked meals with a gourmet touch.
What truly makes this place stand out is their use of wood charcoal for cooking. The unique flavor that this adds to the food is incredible; smoky, bold, and deeply satisfying. You can really taste the difference in every bite. The chicken comes out juicy on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside, and the seasoning is just right.
But don’t stop at the chicken; the menu is full of other amazing dishes that showcase the best of Latin cuisine. One dish I always order is the rib soup. It’s packed with flavor, rich, and comforting; just like something you’d find in a Latin American kitchen. It’s a must-try!
I also highly recommend ordering half chickens instead of full ones, especially if you’re with a group. You get more portions, more sides to share, and more variety to enjoy.
Parking is another plus; there’s always plenty of space available, even during busy hours, which makes the experience even more convenient.
Whether you’re a fan of grilled meats, hearty soups, or traditional Latin dishes, this place delivers on every level. I’ve come here many times with family and friends, and it never disappoints. If you appreciate real Latin flavor and top-quality service, you will absolutely love this spot. Highly...
