Southside Park — Attraction in Miami

Southside Park is an urban park in the Brickell section of Miami. It is only steps from the Metrorail. The fenced in park has benches, bike racks, picnic tables, open area for play and a playground. In 2019 the basketball court was redone with art from D'ana of COVL. Southside Park is primarily used by neighborhood residents to shoot hoops, walk their dogs, or as somewhere to take the kids to play. I really like the large old ficus trees which I am sure have seen their share of Miami history as has the 1905 original Miami High School building which was relocated to the park and restored. As far as parks go though it could definitely use more amenities to benefit the community.

Fortunately Southside Park is slated to get a design overhaul by the same firm that designed New York's Highline and which is currently creating the linear Underline Park under the nearby Metrorail. Plans for the improved Southside Park include an enclosed dog run with dedicated areas for small and large dogs, seating areas, water features, public art, playgrounds for different age groups, a new basketball court, space for community programs, and new plants and trees. There are also plans to build the 64-story 1 South Park tower next door to the park. Based on how well the Underline is turning out, I predict good things are in store for...

It's a dog park...my boy can be the WONDERFU breed rep and ambassador that is my doodle....i am attempting to be more open to new and different ....but my dog and I are not for everyone....DONT TRY TO BE....I WAS THAT CHILD YOUR PARENTS DIDNT WANT ....OR WARNED YOU ABOUT...ALL KINDS OF ISSUES...BUT CAN SIT DOWN WITH ALL KINDS..NO FORMAL EDUCATION BUT I CAN TELL YOU WHO JOHN COLLINS WAS AND THE ANIMALS THAT DEFICATE PELLETS.....BUT IF YOU DINT WANT TO BE JUMPED ON DONT GO TO A DOG PARK....AND DO ME A FAVOR DONT TOUCH MY DOG IN A NASTY WAY ...YES HES A BIT UNRULY...NO MANNERS....DONSNT LISTEN ....BUT HE'S ALL I HAVE AND HE IS THE REASON WHY SOMEDAYS I HAVE TO GET UP AND GET OTHERWISE OUT OF MY OWN...

This green space is much needed for brickell the only close space where you can take your dogs for exercise and enjoy meeting your fellow brickell dog parents. Gave 4 stars because they decided to add a costly jungle gym instead of a dedicated area for pets which would have been way less to construct. So know your demographic city of Miami!
