Updated Review (07/05/25)
Just like the movie title Lost in Translation, that was exactly how I felt during my latest visit to 107 Taste,l; surprised, delighted, and transported back to that very first bite that made me fall in love with the place.
From the moment I walked in, Valeria and Tom greeted me with smiles that stretched from ear to ear. We were immediately escorted to our seats and served chilled water, a refreshing welcome in the middle of that ever-moist Miami heat. They kept our glasses full all night, MVP-style.
As I savored the lingering creamy, mildly spicy aftertaste of one of my favorite starters, the Japanese classic Takoyaki, I couldn’t help but marvel at how this little cabbage-and-octopus puff can hit so many notes at once. Think of it as Japan’s answer to the Spanish croqueta, only creamier, funkier, and topped with edgy fish flakes and smooth, umami-packed Asian mayo. Total flavor bomb.
Next came the Blue Crab Rangoon, a Chinese-American fusion filled with crab stick, scallions, cream cheese, and served with a sweet-and-sour sauce. It’s another must-try starter; comfort food, but with flair…
The entrées arrived with perfect timing. This time, I went with the lighter, silkier cousin of the Pad Thai: Pad Woon Sen, made with stir-fried glass noodles. We added shrimp, and honestly, it dethroned the Pad Thai, from my top favorite. A can’t-miss dish if you want the real “107 taste.”
Our second entrée, the Black Pepper Yaki Udon, was solid, a good shift in flavor from the Woon Sen, but a bit safe overall. It’s one of those “only if you’re really into it” kinds of dishes. Not bad by any means, just not the showstopper. (Also, don’t be intimidated by the “pepper”, it’s really not that spicy.)
The cherry on top? Fried donuts drizzled with condensed milk. I missed them last time, and I’m so glad I didn’t this time. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, sweet and indulgent, the perfect crunchy Thai treat to end this flavor-packed journey.
Arigatō, Xièxiè, Cám ơn, Gamsahada, K̄hxbkhuṇ, and a big thanks to all the culinary cultures that come together at 107 Taste to keep the flavors bold and the standards high. You’ve still got it: same quality, same heart, and still full of surprises.
Till next time…
Review from 2023:
Loved this place! My new asian fusion favorite spot, the food is up to price you pay. Great price/value spot. I recommend the pad thai noodle (simple delicious) and the takoyajki. Those are a MUST! The service made tge experience even better. Wenjle and Tom took us to an Asian one of a kind food experience and cheerful time. Congrats on...
Read more1st review: It's not that the food was bad because it wasn't but we waited 35 minutes for our food to come out. There was 9 of us and there was another table that came in 15 minutes after we did with 19 people and they got their food before us. One of the members of our party got their food and the rest of us waited for 35 minutes. Its like they started to serve us and then the 19 people of white and asian decent came in and they put us on the back burner. We were all African American and the party with 19 people consisted of white and Asian decent. I don't know what took so long so I asked our waiter and she told me she didn't know either, which didn't make sense and was weird being that she took our orders first and was the one serving both tables. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless your okay with the racial profiling and a different nationality. But again the food wasn't bad. It's safe to say that this place is a bit racist that's the only way I can explain serving 19 people before serving 9 when we came in first and you took our orders first.
2nd: response. I appreciate that you took the time to respond to my review. I see that you said that you would basically try and do better. But to be honest with the all the nice words that you used in your response to my review theirs nothing you can really say that will make it okay to treat customers different based on their race. Again. You started to serve us and only served one of us out of 9 people at our table while he (the persone) waited patiently for the rest of us to be served. Then you must of decided the the new table that had come in after us that was asian and white decent with 19 peopleat it. They ordered the same thing we did. It was clearly a race issue. And what makes matters worse, 5 out of 9 of us were law enforcement. If you need to be told about basic ethical standards that's red flag. I hope this hasn't made anybody uncomfortable, but then again the truth is sometimes...
Read moreWhat an amazing holiday weekend dining experience! I'd checked online reviews and comments about multiple locations in the area, and on this one, I focused on the positive comments and checked on the reviewers. I'm SO glad I did, as that was total enjoyment. I'd narrowed my choices to three items, and I know I must return as soon as possible to enjoy the others. My choice today was Pineapple Gu Lao Chicken, which was pretty much perfection. Something in the preparation allowed the citrus to provide great flavor/taste without creating a dish that was overly sweet. Very easy to recommend. Dessert was Thai Donuts. Who wouldn't love those? Next visit will include either General 107 Chicken or Cheesy Noodle On Fire. Thanks, 107 Taste, for a fantastic late lunch!
December 2024 Update: I returned to this wonderful restaurant exactly one year later a repeat Christmas Eve dining experience, and it was VERY much enjoyed. This time I got the Cheesy Noodle On Fire (with added chicken) and it was delicious. I didn't finish the entire portion because that was A LOT of food in a bowl. The amount of chicken received was more than expected, which is always a good thing. On occasion I'll use chop sticks when visiting an Asian restaurant, but the texture (thick) of this entree told me to not even try. The provided fork worked great, and I didn't embarrass myself trying. The menu description says mozzarella cheese, but I'm not sure that was used, but it was delicious and definitely "cheesy" as delivered. I continue to say it's VERY easy to recommend this location if you find yourself in the area . . . and if not, make a special trip....
