I was at IKO a few days ago for happy hour and enjoyed it overall.
I liked the service was fast and friendly. That always helps.
I started with a glass of Albariño. I gotta say it was a nice glass, it was crisp and clean, just what you need in a late warm afternoon. I would come back for that Albariño for sure.
I sampled their tuna tartare and the spicy salmon and tuna rolls.
The tuna tartare had an Unami taste to it, probably coming from the kimchi or the soy sauce. I loved the fact it was not packed with other ingredients and you got to actually taste the tuna with the subtle salty taste at the end, and the sort of rice crackers they serve it with, they are so crunchy, just delicious.
What I really didn’t enjoy much were the rolls. They were overly spicy, and when I say overly is because they actually were. I have high tolerance for spicy food but this was a bit too much. The other flavors got overpowered by the spiciness. The rolls were also a bit messy, for a restaurant of this caliber, you would expect cleaner and more presentable rolls.
I got to see some of their poke bowls; they looked great. I would certainly come back...
Read moreService was good, restaurant was pretty but was empty on a Saturday night at 7pm
Sushi was fresh, but very small sashimi slices.
The omakase is not worth the money at all. I could have ordered everything we got and would have paid less, so this feels like a rip off to me.
They didn’t have any sake.
The chocolate desert was vanilla ice cream with berries, crushed graham crackers and chocolate sauce that’s poured over some cotton candy.
Very gimicky.
Edit : To clarify
This was what received in the omakase which is listed for $190 for two
1 hamachi appetizer $18 1 salmon appetizer 18 3 sashimi ( tuna, salmon, hamachi) $12 each 3 nigiri ( tuna, salmon, hamachi ) $8 each 1 spicy tuna roll $14 1 king crab roll $18 Chocolate Snow $15 Total : $143
So clearly the person who responded is a liar and now instead of 3 stars, it will be 1.
I never claimed that anything was store bought, but the chocolate snow was literally just some ice cream, it was creative, bravo!
The fact a restaurant is empty on a Saturday night at 7 doesn’t mean anything but over charging your...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at IKO restaurant in Miami, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the fish. It was incredibly fresh, and the taste was so smooth that it practically melted in my mouth. Each bite was a testament to the chef's commitment to quality and flavor.
To my surprise, the dessert was equally impressive. The crumble was a delightful twist that I didn’t see coming, adding an unexpected layer of texture and flavor that perfectly complemented the overall meal.
I left IKO with a satisfied palate and a curiosity to explore more of their menu. I can’t wait to return and indulge in the other culinary delights they have to offer. If you’re in Miami and looking for a truly memorable dining experience, I highly recommend...
