Stopped in for a quick, late night dinner. The food came out at a decent time, but our order was incorrect. My friend ordered nachos with no onions, and received tacos with just meat and cilantro. He tried asking for at least some cheese to put on top considering it was an incorrect order, and they charged us $4.25 for the cheese! It would have been fine, but the server seemed as if she were mad at us for not having ordered the right thing. It was a very weird experience, as i've never been put in that situation where it feels like, "the customer is always wrong". By the way, the cheese was charged twice, so the server was trying to charge us $10 for an error she committed. When asked about this error she told us, "no, as you can see, I removed the 2nd charge of cheese, so you were only charged once" *looks at check* "i will go remove one of the charges". The tostadas i ordered and the shrimp tacos my other friend ordered were pretty good, but we will likely not be back due to our experience.

I stepped in here to get out of the rain and was surprised how decent the food was. They are open late, like until midnight which is great. They give you a little serving of chips and salsa with a few different salsas and then the main entree, as you can see, from the photo, was huge. The cheese on top tasted like parmesan but I'm sure it's some mexican cheese I'm just not familiar with. The only thing I really didn't like about the place was that they didn't have fountain soda but since it's on Miami beach that's sort of expected. They use those types of tortillas that are rubbery and fall apart as you eat them, but the filling inside was delicious. For the price and the fact that they are open very late it was not bad at all. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating. It's within walking distance to the Arscht center and also close to the cruise port. Actually probably one of the better Mexican restaurants in Miami.

Came for a Sunday Lunch. Upon entering we found lots of flies on one side and moved to the other side of the restaurant. There were fewer flies. - The menu has an item “Carne Asada” priced at MP, Market Price. So El Gato asked the server what cut of meat was it? Server didn’t know and when asked someone in the kitchen. The response was “Skirt” steak. It was not skirt stake, it was a flat piece of Sirloin. Spoke to the waitress and asked her to allow me to speak with the person who had told her. She said it was the owner and that she called him on the phone because he wasn’t there. El Gato cannot recommend a restaurant which lies to its customers and does not do anything to remedy a bad experience. Should have left upon noticing the flies inside the restaurant.

Disappointing Experience at a Local Restaurant !!

I recently had an extremely negative experience at a restaurant, one that left me with a strong urge to warn others. While considering dining there, my party and I stood at the entrance, contemplating our decision, especially since it was pouring rain. The outdoor seating area was completely empty...

Unexpectedly, the manager approached us with a noticeably poor attitude, rudely inquiring if we were going to eat there. When we explained that we were still deciding, given the rain, he brusquely informed us that the outdoor area was for customers only. This response seemed unreasonable, especially since the area was deserted.

Feeling unwelcome, we stepped just a couple of steps away, onto the sidewalk, still under the rain. The manager's demeanor may be due to the nearby Miami Slice, bustling with customers even in the inclement weather.

I was also taken aback by the language barrier; besides the manager, it appeared that no other staff member spoke English. This could be challenging for patrons who aren't fluent in the local language.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The service was far from decent, and the manager's attitude was particularly off-putting. It’s a shame, as hospitality is key in the food service industry, and this establishment severely lacks in...

I was craving Mexican food and found this place on google (the have 4.3 stars). To start, the margarita tropical was delicious. Their chips and guacamole were also very good, but that is all. I ordered chicken enchiladas and they were absolutely disgusting. The chicken tasted like it came from a can. The red sauce tasted Italian, the cheese wasn’t melted, the tortillas were mush, the rice was bagged rice, the refried beans were liquid. There was nothing saving this dish. So I explained to the waitress (to the best of my abilities) because she didn’t speak English, that I didn’t like the dish. She asked if I wanted to order anything else, I said no, and she took the full plate plate of food back. THEN, when the check came, they charged for the enchiladas. I asked to speak to the manager because I did not eat the food, but was being charged. The manager told me that because I tried it, I have to pay for the food!!! I HAD 1 but of the enchiladas and then a bite of the rice and water beans to see if there was anything edible on the plate (there was not). So I explained to him everything that was wrong with the food and how would I know if I like the food unless I try it. He finally agreed to remove it, just this one time. But I will NEVER RETURN HERE. From the revolting food to the disgraceful service it is...

We just happened to eat here because Miami slice was too busy and they're next door to it. The food was mediocre at best, the service was slow and a little shady. We asked for water and they brought out water bottles, we didn't think anything of it because the waitress didn't give the option of tap or bottles so we assumed they gave out bottle for free since they were the cheap Costco ones...anyhow when the bill came we noticed they charged us $3 for each, it wasn't the cost that I cared about it....it was the principal the waitress didn't give us the option. So I contested the bill with the waitress and she apologized and said she'd ask the manager. The manager came and I told him what had happened and he's solution was that he'd could remove the waters but he would have to deduct it from the waitress pay... I thought that was shady AF the manager pining the waitress in a weird situation. Anyways make sure you specify that u want the free water when u do ask for water. And honestly the food...
