La Social or La maleducada(Rude)
My husband and I decided to try a new place for breakfast, so we googled and found La Social, a nice quaint restaurant. The ambience was nice, the decor gave a modern style home-like feel, and the menu was diverse....BUT the CUSTOMER SERVICE could have been much better. Burnt Toast:
So, I ordered "Queen's Complete Breakfast" which included whole grain toast. Upon receiving my toast it looked a bit burnt but I tasted it anyhow but it tasted charred so I requested a new order of toast to replace it. I'd finished my food and still..no toast. I asked again and another waiter brought my toast and said "Here's your 'unburnt' toast". What he could've said: "I sincerely apologize for previous displeasure and I hope this is more to your liking and is there anything more I can get for you?"
Pancakes:
Also, because I have a bit of a sweet tooth and love for bread, I requested a side of pancakes. Our initial waiter, Marcos, said “Ok”. I was nearly finished with my breakfast and realized that my pancakes were nowhere to be found, so I asked again. Marcos came back a few moments later and stated that he couldn't give me a side of pancakes but I could get the blueberry or regular pancakes.( what does FLAVOR have to do with a SIDE dish? &.the pancakes didn't come with anything else) which led me to believe that he was afraid my husband and I couldn't afford it due to how he handled the situation. What he could've said: " I'd be happy to oblige your request for a side of pancakes but we will have to charge full price according to our policy. Is that ok with you?"
Btw...I requested regular pancakes to go, and Marcos told me they were blueberry pancakes.I decided to just let it go & grabbed the stapled bag. Once I reached home I realized there were no blueberries but I was charged for it.
Lastly, a family of 5 came in and was seated a few feet from us. After they were seated Marcos told them they had to dine outside because the manager said so. But the woman was still puzzled as so was her husband, so she asked "why?" again(hoping for a better explanation, I'm sure) and Marcos told her because the man over there said so(he pointed at a casually dressed man in a corner booth). The man didn't address the family at all and Marcos proceeded to tell them that it was due to spacing. What he could've said: "I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but due to Covid restrictions and/ or restaurant policy, spacing is very critical. It is our duty to ensure the health and safety of our workers and appreciated customers as yourself." (Then offer ice water because it was a bit warm outside)
In the words of the great,Maya Angelou, “I've learned that people will forget, what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you...
Read moreI’ve been to La Social a few times now but this time was by far the most frustrating. I’d had one initial experience that wasn’t great solely because they said they didn’t serve free tap water which was ridiculous but they seemed to have changed that. Our male server was very lackadaisical. He dropped our menus off with a mumble of I’ll be back or something and then didn’t come back for 20 minutes. He seemed very attentive and friendly to a larger table with a reservation that arrived after us, which comes off quite rude. He finally came back and we had our whole order ready and he didn’t write any of it down. My partner ordered a smoothie and the steak and eggs, and I ordered an iced matcha with the Stevens toast. I asked to simply substitute the egg whites for sunny side up eggs and he said they wouldn’t do that so I just got a side. 5 minutes later he came back to say they were out of steak. The smoothie came about 10 minutes later and then another 5 minutes later the barista came over with a mocha latte. I said it wasn’t what I ordered and he went to consult with our server. The barista I will say seemed mildly frustrated with our server as well. Two minutes later the server came back with the same drink I didn’t order and said they were out of matcha. I’m a server at my own job and I can say with absolute certainty that this is not what you do when someone orders something the restaurant is out of. He said it was just an iced latte which I would’ve ordered instead so I let him leave it. I took a sip and it was definitely a mocha which I don’t like and I told him and he tried to convince me it was a regular latte and also for whatever reason said they were out of mocha. I just had him send it back and he offered me tap water which took him 15 minutes to get. We’d gotten our food which was fine. We’d been very frustrated the entire time with our service and wanted to leave and finally got the bill. Our bill wasn’t shown to us nor was our total so we asked for a receipt only to find out 20% tip is included. I find it ridiculous that after providing shitty service you still get compensated like you provided good service. Once again, as a server if gratuity is included you HAVE to let your table know and how much because 20% included is ridiculous especially for bad service. I understand that servers get a low wage and tips are how we make our money, but I personally know that it’s only fair if people are tipping you personally that you provide them with excellent service, no matter the background. This will probably be my last time going here. The food is usually good but really the service was what ruined...
Read moreI try to leave positive reviews for businesses that I love, but I feel like this place disappointed me enough to write about it.. in hopes that they can improve … I had the iced Matcha latte, the Alaskan omelette, and the pesto chicken sandwich. My friend and I split it, and the food itself was pretty good, particularly the omelette was my favorite.
Unfortunately, the Matcha was not the way I had hoped, I asked for it with simple syrup in it and, the server brought it out to me without any. I’m surprised she didn’t offer me an option before bringing it out prepared incorrectly, even though I was very adamant on it being sweetened a little. After bringing it out and acting surprised I wasn’t satisfied with my drink, she did offer honey ( not my preferred flavor with matcha), but she seemed annoyed by me asking since I didn’t enjoy the beverage prepared incorrectly against my wishes for some odd reason, and since it’s an iced drink the honey just got all hard at the bottom.. I wish she had told me there was no simple syrup because I would’ve just canceled the drink altogether and then I would’ve had a better experience. She also never brought us water, and my friend almost threw up afterwards because she didn’t have any water with her Matcha or her food, and it was really hot today, so we kind of forgot to ask but most places offer. I’m also surprised they’re up charging for vegan milk options since there’s a class action lawsuit against that from Starbucks.
Craziest part was they only gave me one napkin the whole meal. I had to ask for more napkins since none are visible, and the guy only brought me 1 😂 even though they brought out several plates, very odd service here. Probably my least favorite part was the ceiling having dust trails across the room onto the wall from the air vents. It looked like there might be black mold in the AC duct. It made me a little concerned for the cleanliness of the establishment although the kitchen did look clean. There was a poodle in and out of the kitchen, which I don’t think it’s very sanitary, but it was a Saturday I guess and she was well behaved. Not sure if I would ever go back here for beverages, maybe I would get that omelette to go. Which sucks cause the place seemed pretty cute and it was my idea to check it out. I don’t think gratuity should be included if they’re not bringing me water or napkins, and they can’t make my drinks correctly. Just saying I’m not a rich person, by any means and I am a...
