Mixed Experience at a Puerto Rican Restaurant
I recently visited Mofpngo, a Puerto Rican restaurant for lunch, and while the food had its merits, the overall experience left much to be desired. Our culinary journey began on a promising note with flavorful dishes, but unfortunately, the service and pricing detracted from the enjoyment.
The food itself was nice, reflecting the flavors and essence of Puerto Rican cuisine. However, the restaurant's approach to portion sizing left us with an overwhelming amount of food. The lack of guidance or suggestions from the staff resulted in us ordering more than we could handle. It would have been appreciated if the server had offered assistance in choosing appropriate portion sizes for our party.
A significant downside to our experience was the service, which was not up to par. When we realized the quantity of food we ordered was excessive, we requested to cancel the additional dish we ordered only minutes prior. Regrettably, we were informed that the order had already been placed and could not be cancelled. To our disappointment, even after 20 minutes, the additional food was still not ready, forcing us to leave without tasting it. This poor handling of our request left us feeling unsatisfied and frustrated.
Adding to our disappointment was the pricing. The dishes were overpriced for the portion sizes and overall experience we received. The fact that we ended up with a substantial amount of uneaten food that we had to take home further reinforced the feeling of dissatisfaction.
To compound matters, we were charged an additional 20% gratuity for the subpar service, which left a sour taste in our mouths. The restaurant's inability to accommodate our request and the subsequent wastage of food made this added gratuity hard to digest.
In conclusion, the Puerto Rican restaurant offered some pleasant flavors, but the overall experience was marred by poor service and overpricing. The lack of assistance in portion sizing resulted in an excessive amount of uneaten food, and the handling of our request to cancel an order was disappointing. The added gratuity for a less-than-satisfactory experience was the final blow to our dining experience. If visiting this restaurant, exercise caution with portion sizes and consider the potential for dissatisfaction with the service...
Read moreMy first time trying Puerto Rican food, so I went to the right place in MIAMI - “Mofongo” located in the Hearth of little Havana (8th Street). For drinks I had sangria & cocomojito (actually made with coco water), we ordered a main entrance to shares with 4 people called “surtido borinqueño” which is very convenience entrance if you would like to try different stuff from the main menu. As main plate I ordered the FAMOUS Mofongo, green plantain, shrimp and ajillo sauce, GREAT selection. Big portion for one person. Service was really good, we were attended by Andres (Colombian guy) really nice, speaks Spanish too. I will definitely go back to this place !! I will share some pictures.
Mofongo Miami's diverse menu catered to all palates, boasting numerous mouthwatering dishes. We couldn't resist the temptation of their signature Piña Colada, served creatively in a pineapple, a refreshing treat that we thoroughly enjoyed throughout the meal.
While the food was undoubtedly delicious, I must mention that some dishes leaned slightly towards the salty side, which slightly impacted the overall enjoyment. Hence, my rating of 4 stars.
Considering the generous portion sizes and the overall dining experience, the prices at Mofongo Miami remain reasonable, making it a fantastic value for money. We left the restaurant content with satisfied appetites and even had some leftovers to enjoy later.
