So my boyfriend, our baby, & I decided to try this spot out since it was recommended by a friend! As soon as we arrived, we found out that we had to pay for parking, which already was a weird vibe but hey, it’s Miami.. so we surfed for a parking spot & headed to the restaurant which was a short walk away. We walked up the ramp & saw a sign that said “Seat Yourself” so we were like, ok this must be a little chill restaurant! Hopefully someone would notice us sitting down. Then a guy came over to clean the table since there were crumbs & bird crap. (The amount of birds flying around was like when you throw a piece of food at the beach) luckily we were under an umbrella but still, it didn’t feel the cleanest! I wiped the table again just incase & looked at the menu! Our waiter brought us water which was nice & asked what we wanted to drink. We told him it was our first time here, so we needed a little while to look at the full menu! We saw that we were in happy hour so some drinks were half off, (so we thought). We decided to get the La Passion Margarita & The Mai Tai Specialty drink & Nachos w Guac to snack on! After few minutes later our drinks came out & soon after Nachos! We were excited to see that the size of the nachos was decent for 17$. They were very good too! We decided what to eat right after. Unfortunately our waiter didn’t come to our table for a good 10 minutes, we had to summon him before the place got too busy. We ordered the Salmon dinner & The Lobster& Shrimp Risotto & a kids pasta with Apple Juice. The food came out at a decent time, but when it did, I guess we were expecting a bigger portion of the meals for the price…. The kids pasta was perfect for our baby, but the presentation of the salmon was kind of empty. I feel like if you can see too much of the plate, there isn’t enough on it yk. We were also expecting a lobster tail with the risotto but it was all blended in. The food overall was cooked perfectly , it was mostly the presentation & expectations we had prior that made the experience unfortunate. Anyways, we ordered more drinks, The Heat Margarita & The Bahama Mama Specialty drink & to-go boxes & check, just incase we had to wait another 10 minutes to be waited on. The drinks were ok, it could’ve been a bit spicier. & we got our check. 178$ including the 19% service charge (26$) … I overlooked the prices again & noticed we got charged the full amount for the Margaritas when we thought it was included in happy hour. The waiter said the menu is “Old” & the only Margarita valid for happy hour was the Monty Margarita?…….. if we had known earlier, we wouldn’t have ordered more drinks… Also, why not update the menu to be correct, because if you see on the pic I provided, it says “house MargaritaS” plural, anyone would assume the whole Margarita menu… anyways he said “now you know for next time” ….. but honestly I think this was a one & done experience. If you’re looking for a place around the corner from your job that you could walk to for free & get a quick lunch….. or if you’re a boat owner & want a snack, then this would be the place…… other than that, the vibe was not what we were going for as a family of 3. At least we checked it out. Thankyou...
Read moreWe Ubered here from our hotel. Upon arrival we were sat right away. This was a Friday night so there was a live DJ playing. It took a long time for someone to come greet us. The beer we wanted was no longer offered and the server said they had not updated the menus. We ordered a different beer. We ordered the mahi fingers for an appetizer. They were breaded and fried and came with 6 small pieces. Not really a good bang for your buck but they did taste good. We ordered the grouper dinner, which was excellent. It came with potatoes and salad as well, and the fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We also ordered the snapper sandwich. It was tasty but not as good as the grouper. We also ordered the mahi sandwich which was also nice and tasty. However, the server made it seem like the sandwich came with a side, so we ordered a Caesar salad, only to find out it was $6 extra. Overall the food was great and we enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere was nice with the marina right there. We could see people coming and loading up wither yachts for a weekend trip. You can even walk around the marina there right next to the restaurant. The service was quite slow, but we were on vacation so we were patient. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed there was a 19% service charge already added to the bill. There was little explanation on the bill and our server did not mention this at all. We had to google it to find out that it really doesn’t go towards the server, but to the rest of the tipped out staff at the restaurant like bartenders, bussers, and food runners. I understand this, as I know that servers normally tip out a percentage of their sales to theses people, but I am not used to the customer paying for this. Due to this, we felt as though we had to leave the usual 20% for the server, therefore paying an extra 39% in tips on the tab. Just be prepared for that, or do your research, or ask your server so that you are not blindsided by this at the end as we were. Overall we enjoyed our meal here but we will probably not be back, as the prices are those high Miami Beach prices (and then...
Read moreThey have a variety of foods to offer and, personally, the fish tacos were good. The place was a little busy when we got there but not crazy. Most of the seating was outside but covered. There is an automatic 19% service charge on all food and drink which was stated on the menu. The issues I had were that it took a while to initially get a drink. Beers normally come in a bottle or a 16oz draft. Their draft was priced for a normal size but you got a 12oz plastic cup. Kids menu had a semi decent selection but if you dont want a corn cob on the side, you can switch it for normal items like fries for $1. One child wanted a corn and the other wanted fries. We should have switch amongst ourselves when the food arrived because they charged a $1 for each kid because each asked for what the other was getting on the side. (One wanted fries but was supposed to get corn and the other wanted corn but not fries.) The topper was that the service charge is added onto the bill and tax is done after. I asked for clarification since this is a tip and I should have to pay for tax on the 19% service charge. Tax the entire bill and add 19%. The waitress went to ask and came back with an explanation of what the service charge was. I said that I wanted to know why it was added like a meal and I was being taxed on top of that. (Maybe $5 difference overall but it is the fact I shouldn't have to even pay that) The waitress before listening fully just left because she wasn't able to understand my question. We paid the bill and left. I don't need to return there because there was nothing special about that location. Also, if you don't park in a certain lot, then parking is at your cost. Make sure to validate your ticket like we did. We just needed to wait for everyone else stuck at the gate that did...
