Update2 - I got my folio and not only did the manager not apply the promised $50 dining credit but when I attempt to call to get it resolved no one will answer the phone or return a voicemail. So now they've managed to eek an additional $80 for breakfast out of us on the promise of it being comped for our issues... Only for it to actually be charged to my credit card. This whole place is an absolute insult and comedy of errors. I strongly urge travelers to consider alternative accomodations because this is not it.

Update - I spoke with the manager of the property who explained that the group in question did not have authorization to play music in the atrium and that they shut it down as soon as they started receiving complaints. He was understanding of our concerns and was able to offer to make it right for future stays. Due to service level I've increased the rating from 3 to 4 stars.

.....

We opted to stay here for a change of scenery before a cruise out of Miami. I REALLY wanted to like this place but I have some pretty significant reservations.

The property portrays itself as a 4.5 star property and to the immediate eye it meets those requirements. Unfortunately, once you look a little bit closer you realize that there is quite a bit of polish and maintenance missing from this property with great potential.

The positive - the architecture is stunning. It's a truly unique property and in an extremely walkable and energetic neighborhood. You can walk easily to an assortment of shops and restaurants without issue. The rooms themselves are also fairly well appointed.

We had a drink from the SipSip bar and the bar at the Mayfair Grill. We found the drinks very well made and the bartenders were good and very pleasant to interact with.

The bad - shortly after we checked in we were changing in our room and another couple walked right into the room. They apologized profusely and said they had just checked in and were given this room by staff. When we approached staff they were apologetic but starf "this happens sometimes with the software we use when two people are being checked in at the same time" - let me say; I've got a fairly extensive history staying in hotels and this is certainly something that should never be able to happen with whatever hotelier software they have in place and it should be addressed. The agent who assisted did seem genuinely apologetic and assured us that all keys had been cancelled and reissued so no security issues exist but it was still quite the jarring event.

Certain areas of the hotel are showing some disrepair and age. The rooftops pool has many area where telework is either missing or loose on the bottom which seems a bit hazardous.

It was not a warm night when we stayed but the AC seemed to be a struggle. It was set on 68 degrees but the system struggled to keep the room below 71 until around 03:00 when it cooled down outside.

The soundproofing is not great and there seemed to be little consideration for guests when approving events on the property. We were awoken at 0800 to a VERY loud party or reception in the center atrium. It was impossible to get back to sleep because it sounded like the music was piercing directly into our room. Since the hotel rooms encircle this atrium I'm assuming half the hotel guests had similar issues. We were on the 4th floor so I can only imagine how extricating this was for people on lower floors.

Something to consider is that in addition to your nightly room rate and taxes, you are also being charged $25/night in "resort fees" which k personally find ridiculous at a property that has little in terms of actual resort style amenities. It seems like a racket to suck up an additional $25/night while advertising a lower nightly rate.

In all, for what I paid I feel like the visit was slightly overpriced. I had an EXTREMELY discounted rate from a 3rd party. Even with this rare out stay was $286 for one night. This hotel does not meet $300/nt standards in my mind.

Had I laid the average rate of nearly $400/nt I would have been extremely...

I'm a return customer, meaning, my family and I were loyal customers of the original, historic landmark Mayfair House hotel so I looked forward to returning to stay at the newly reopened version of the Mayfair House hotel (coinciding with rebirth of CocoWalk - restaurants, coffee shop, lounges, retail therapy, theatre all within a 1 minute walk) and I'm truly pleased with my choice to do so. I wanted to see for myself what the differences would be and whether or not the new ownership would be able to preserve the iconic elements that made Mayfair synonymous with Coconut Grove. For many reasons, Mayfair Hotel 2024 is truly a stand out gem:

With Marriott and other hospitality chains practicing an expansion strategy of buying up boutique hotels and making them apart of their new collections, you are hardpressed to travel anywhere these days and have an authentic, localized luxury experience. The guest experience given this monopoly is dismal, then rinsed and repeated to reach the greater goal of customer loyalty, then forcing customers to redeem loyalty points at lower end hotels.

The Mayfair House experience moves closest to capturing the "Real Miami" experience. It's a demure, laid back opulence, and the most idyllic tropical (Yes, Miami is the tropics and Yes, Coconut Grove is Miami's oldest neighborhood) setting. To be very honest, you feel as if you've been swept away into a tropical paradise setting amped up with sci fi level graphics - the interior of the hotel looks an outdoor tropical oasis on a private island retreat.

I dined at "Sip Sip" the rooftop bar and was ecstatic to see more elements of the real Miami culture captured on the menu like conch fritters! Well done and I would really like to see so much more of that local luxury theme carried throughout to be honest so I intend to make recommendations to management. The mini bar snacks/amenities were nicely and thoughtful appointed to include lovely packaged, top quality pour over coffee and botanical-thematic, white labeled water.

During our stay there, the restaurant's fine dining option relaunched with a new chef and new menu and aptly so, there was a huge to-do over it. I would have really liked to be included in the soft launch as guests know what guests expect in dining options especially during Hurricane Season when you avoid going outside due to high heat advisories and tropical storms.

Sincere thanks are in order to the small but very mighty, kindhearted and gracious Mayfair House staff and leadership that truly made our stay heaven sent. During our Florida vacation haul, we stayed at many, many top luxury hotels with elite staff and management and we found that Mayfair staff and leadership struck a great balance between responsiveness (near immediate issue to resolution time by phone, text and email) and attentiveness / eagerness to please and distancing themselves enough to empower us to feel as if the suite was truly our home away from home. For example, we were invited to schedule housekeeping rather than having housekeeping interrupt our morning work conference calls / breakfast / rest rather than persistent knocking at the door all day by hotel staff. That was the tangible luxury we needed.

Accolades to the awesome and fast acting staff and leadership:

I just had the privilege of staying at Mayfair House and Garden Hotel in Coconut Grove, Miami, and I can confidently say it was an extraordinary experience. From the beautifully designed rooms to the invigorating pool and the vibrant rooftop bar, every aspect of this hotel exceeded my expectations. However, what truly made our stay unforgettable were the exceptional team members who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction.

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation to Daniella, the Front Desk Manager at Mayfair House and Garden Hotel. From the moment we stepped foot in the hotel, Daniella's warm and genuine hospitality created an atmosphere of welcome and care. She greeted us with a radiant smile and a genuine desire to make our stay exceptional. Daniella's extensive knowledge of the hotel and its amenities was truly impressive. She effortlessly guided us through the check-in process, and provided valuable recommendations for local attractions and dining options. Throughout our stay, Daniella consistently went the extra mile to ensure our needs were met, and her unwavering dedication to guest satisfaction was truly commendable.

Another extremely amazing team member who deserves special recognition is Jason, the dedicated 11 year veteran bellman at Mayfair House and Garden Hotel. Jason's exemplary service and passion for his role were evident in every interaction we had with him. As soon as we arrived, he warmly welcomed us and eagerly assisted with our luggage. What struck me most about Jason was his genuine care for each guest. He took the time to listen attentively, offering personalized recommendations and ensuring that our stay was tailored to our preferences. His attention to detail and commitment to making us feel comfortable and valued truly set him apart. Jason's enthusiasm for the hotel and the surrounding area was contagious, and his vibrant personality added an extra touch of warmth and joy to our stay.

Mayfair House and Garden Hotel itself is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Coconut Grove. Just steps from tons of cool restaurants and bars. The exquisitely designed rooms provided a luxurious and comfortable retreat, where every detail was meticulously curated to create a sense of elegance. The pool, maintained at the perfect temperature, offered a refreshing oasis where we could relax and unwind under the warm Miami sun. And when evening fell, the rooftop bar came alive with energy and excitement. We enjoyed sipping cocktails while taking in the breathtaking views of the city skyline, accompanied by the vibrant ambiance that made every moment unforgettable.

In conclusion, my stay at Mayfair House and Garden Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The outstanding service provided by team members like Daniella,m and Jason, the dedicated bellman, truly elevated our experience. Their genuine care, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality were evident throughout our stay. Combined with the hotel's luxurious accommodations, refreshing pool, and vibrant rooftop bar, Mayfair House and Garden Hotel is a true gem that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable stay in Coconut...
