I will preface this by saying that I have no complaints about the flavors of gelato, just some about the overall experience. The flavors were pretty good, but the employee who helped me only allowed me and my brother to each try a single flavor, so you better hope that you like the flavor you picked :( She also waited to mention this rule until she had already scooped a sample spoon for the first flavor I got to pick, so I didnât even get a chance to look at any of the flavors in the other case or even change my mind about which flavor I would like to sample. Reading through other past reviews, some people mention getting to try two or five flavors, so maybe it just depends on the employee you get, but if thatâs the case, they should standardize the number of flavors you get to try and it would be nice if it were clearly posted so you donât only find out once you get to the front of the line. Also, they didnât have any prices clearly posted when I went, so being told it was $10 for a small cup (no cone) was a bit of a shock! The only plus is that at least you can pick two flavors with the small - but if it had just been me and I could only try one flavor, how would I have been able to pick? Just choose one at random and hope that itâs tasty enough? At the register, the employee kept asking for a tip, first during the electronic payment with card, then she looked at the receipt and held out the tip jar at us and said, âAgain, my employees and I would really appreciate a tipâ when she saw we had not added a tip on top of sharing a $10 cup. Despite enjoying the gelato, I unfortunately think I would not return based on the rest of the experience. I think it would be helpful to have prices visibly posted and to have a sign stating âOnly 1 sampleâ to make things more clear; even though I am not a fan of the one sample rule, I would have been a lot more amenable if I had...
Read moreIt was a particularly hot and steamy Miami day. My son and I decided to look for ice cream to cool off. This place has really good ice cream and, apparently, other people also had the same idea to come here for ice cream.
This little ice cream stand had ice cream in 3 freezers on all 3 of its little corners. There was so much demand from many hot and sweaty people and they were standing at all 3 corners of the SKOOPS ice cream stand so it was confusing for us to figure our where we were supposed to be waiting in line to place our order and pay for the ice cream we wanted. Hence, we waited quite a while to be served since the 3 people working behind the counter were clearly overwhelmed by the impatient crowd of hot and sweaty clients. We kept getting passed over since other people were less patient than we were. Fortunately, one kind man from another stand jumped in to volunteer and jumped behind the counter to offer an extra pair of hands to scoop up ice cream. I was surprised since I thought he worked there.
Finally, we placed our order - chocolate and pistachio for my teenage son and chocolate and mint chocolate chip for me. The man behind the counter was good at marketing and he also asked if we each wanted a bottle of cold water so we bought that too.
Hats off to Maniply and Nicolas as well as to their Mystery Scooper Helper for managing to tackle the major marathon feat of scooping up ice cream for crowds of hot and sweaty as well as impatient people on a very...
Read moreI had a terrible experience visiting Skoops. I am not a local and was in town for the 4th of July weekend. My young daughter initially was in the mood for ice cream. We were trying the flavors to decide which one she wanted when, the employee name JUANITA rudley interrupted me as I was asking her something about the ice cream flavor, and said to me â I am talking, â and pointed to her chest as she cut me off. I did respond, âyouâre not going to talk to me like that!â When you are a customer service employee, when a customer is talking you do not interrupt the question being asked. Professionally, you allow the customer to speak. She then proceeded to tell me, âWell I am not going to help you then.â I then proceeded to ask for her managers number, when the other girl at the register proceeded to give me, JUANITAâS number as this girl proceeded to go to the back to pretend like she was the manager. They sat and laughed. This place is so unprofessional and employees need to be trained on their professionalism. It doesnât matter if you are working at an ice cream place or the Ritz Carlton, you should not treat customers this way. Needless to say, I did not purchase ice cream from a place that treats visitors rudely. Please see attached their response. Still blaming it on the customer....
