My review is a combo of both the 5 starts & the 1 stars. We booked our 5pm reservation about a month prior. When we arrived we were greated by a very kind staff member who provided us with a welcome drink. To say it's a full drink would be a mislabel, it was more of A shot of Japanese whiskey and ginger. Delicious, but definitely nothing to write home about.

Once you enter the sushi bar the seats will be labeled and parties grouped together. I did love the intimacy of the small dark room and mingling with just a few guests. The chefs are friendly and knowledgeable . The courses consist of one nigiri (16) and one dessert cube. The quality of the fish is unmatched. However with a dozen omakase opening in Miami they need to be a bit more edgy/competitively priced.

Which leads me to my first true negative - the cocktails and beverages over all were wildly over priced. I'm used to Miami cocktails being $16+ but $18 for a 5oz simple cocktail seems insane.

Second- we left hungry. 16 nigiris over an hour and a half may seem like a lot of food. But it's definitely not for the price. And on top of that, I feel like they know this bc they continually tried to upsell additional al a carte items , pairings etc.

Finally- we left paying $260pp for the omakase and two drinks. And let me reiterate, we left hungry! It's definitely nothing I need to repeat even tho the bites were delicious.

For that amount and the overall satisfaction I would recommend either a lesser price point , an additional serving or larger portions. Too many other omakase with the same quality and lower price tag. This was a definite one and...

Not a fan of the whole experience.

Was told about it through the big hype ! Joe Rogan ... we decided to book it, we were 2 couples , 165$ pp 17 Courses ( 17 sushi ).

Ended up with a 800$ check for me and my gf. Wasn't happy as we tough everything was included.

at the end of the course we did add 2 sushi each and still as a chef surprise :) ( so four sushi ).

We ask to have the bill to understand the check and we were told we were going to receive it by TXT.

we did receive the invoice by TXT 20 minutes later and that was the itemized bill :

2 sushi menu 330$ ( 17 sushi each ) sake pair 110$ 4 sushi cocktail 96$

Visited yesterday for a date night with Madame and thought it was a great dining experience. It is definitely a fine dining omakase experience and not just a sushi joint, and for these type of experiences you pay more, because of the quality of staff, the sourcing of the food and alcohol and general ambiance. The food was prepared very delicately and out of the 17 courses there were definitely some better than others. The most unique and delicious pieces for me personally were the escolar (Korea) fish and the wild big glory bay (NZ) salmon, the madai was spectacular as well. I am more of a purist when it comes to omakase (ie: just a brush of soy), sushi for scratch gets creative with their ingredients, some interesting (beetroot) others more difficult for me (mixing soy and ponzu). The bar tender (she was definitely sommelier level) was very knowledgeable as well, she made a great sake recommendation. Overall i would highly recommend, expect to pay $250-400 pp with alcohol, service and tax. Totally worth...

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an omakase dinner at Sushi by Scratch, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The freshness and taste of the sushi were unparalleled, making every bite a delightful experience for the palate. The chef’s expertise was evident in each meticulously crafted piece, showcasing the high quality and freshness of the ingredients. From the melt-in-your-mouth toro to the perfectly seasoned uni, every dish was a testament to their dedication to perfection. Service was another highlight of the evening. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the culinary journey they were guiding us through. They provided insightful explanations about each course and were more than happy to accommodate any preferences or dietary restrictions. The ambiance of the restaurant was intimate and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. Sushi by Scratch truly elevates the omakase experience with its exceptional food and outstanding service.

We had an excellent experience at Sushi by Scratch! The quality of fish was premium and we enjoyed the sake pairings immensely curated by the sommelier. 17 courses of deliciousness with a variety of flavors. We left with full tummies and a smile on our faces. We loved the darker, intimate vibe, and music. We really felt as if we were dining in secret! The experience is what you make of it, so I’d recommend interacting with the other diners and the lovely chefs and sommelier. We learned interesting facts about their crafts simply by asking the team who seemed happy to share. The welcome hostess was also incredibly inviting. It’s an experience and I would recommend it to my friends! I will say, I know not everyone may be willing to pay the price (with the add ons, it racks up). But if you’re in a position to do so, go for it! It’s a delicious meal and a wonderful experience.
