The Fricker's by the Dayton Mall (Springboro Pike) really disappointed my family and I yesterday. My brother was visiting from out of town and because he's a world traveler, we wanted something local for lunch that is special and not a national chain restaurant. Fricker's was a mistaken choice. This was for a late lunch around 1 pm. It wasn't busy at all. Possibly one-third full dining room. The server was actually awesome, which is the only reason I am leaving two starts, otherwise it would have been 1. I tipped her well (and in cash) in sympathy for the people she is being forced to work with, notably her manager. The appetizers were ok, nothing special, bar food, but not bad. The main course came and two of the four chicken orders were not servable because someone messed up in the kitchen, according to the server. The manager came up to the table a few minutes later and attempted to explain. We were nicer than we should have been, but that's just how we are. He actually went into an excuse about an understaffed kitchen because all the others were at some kind of special event up the street. All that said to me is that this person can't figure out how to staff his store properly. And you should NEVER make excuses for poor service, you should just apologize and make it right. So when the two meals finally arrive 20 minutes later, one of the two was completely wrong. They were supposed to be boneless chunks but were bone-in wings, which my brother doesn't like, so I traded my meal with him and suffered with the bone-in wings, which were not good. I admit that I grew up in Buffalo (both of us did), but at the very least, even if I don't expect truly buffalo-style wings, I expect the wings to be fully cooked and they did not seem to be fully cooked to me. This is pretty dangerous considering the salmonella risk. I ate around the edges of a few but didn't finish them and left the rest on the table. We won't be back to this or any...
Read moreHonestly I will never return to another Frickers establishment again. The last time I was here was October 2023. Now I returned for the first time since and it’s March 2024. The server we initially had was our server the last time we came which was poor service due to her being on her phone texting while our food sat near the bar for 10-15 minutes while the establishment was slow, she was just texting. This time we came in and ordered our beer and food and when our appetizers came out I smiled in relief to the server and said “oh my gosh we are so hungry thank you!” To which my bf and I were surprised to see our server slam our food in front of us saying how terrible of a human being I am and I am so mean and I made her cry last time and accused me of a situation that I wasn’t even present for. I sat there shocked my bf and I looked at each other confused, and she said “I don’t know who is serving you and I don’t care but good luck because I am not!!” We were in such disbelief if you’re confusing me for someone else, please you could have said that before putting our food order in and slamming our appetizers in our face. The most unprofessional atmosphere. The manager was super kind apologized about the situation but it doesn’t make it acceptable or okay. We usually go to roosters, and have great service unfortunately they had a wait this evening. But I promise we will never return to another Frickers establishment. The service is always poor and the food isn’t that great. Again I appreciate the manager apologizing for the situation, but it doesn’t make it okay or acceptable. If you aren’t “fit” to be in the service industry, then don’t be in it. I used to be in the service industry and I would never imagine talking to a customer like this let alone a human at all ever. It costs $0 to be a decent...
Read moreI will start by saying that the review is mainly based off of our experience with the managers and the poor service, since we weren't really given a chance to finish our food. We took our 80 year old grandpa here for dinner last night and found a table to sit down at. Once we sat down, we were immediately overcome by the loud atmosphere. It wouldn't have been an issue, and it was very much expected, but we noticed that about 80% of the people there had only beers and nothing else. When we took note of this, we had been waiting for our food for a good 50 minutes. The food itself was just okay, and our waitress never came to our table during our wait or our meal. Barely any waitresses came through our section, making my dad feel obligated to do their job. He refilled our drinks and got sauce for my wings, which I ordered but never received with the food. As he did this, he swore at our waitress telling her how poorly she was doing at her job. The waitress reported to the manager, feeling threatened, and the manager came to our table. He ordered that my dad leave the restaurant immediately, and my dad refused and called the police using his Bluetooth headset. My father was out of pocket for doing such, but if you kick people out for doing the job that your workers wouldn't do, then there is something seriously wrong with your business. The other manager with the "Grace" tattoo on his hand was the one good thing to come out of the experience. He was helpful, welcoming, and facilitated my grandpa's walking problems. But overall, the first manager's heart is definitely in the right building, because he is a total FRICKER. A complete embarrassment of a dinner experience here. If your service doesn't come around, don't bother helping yourself, because you will...
