Schoop's Hamburgers — Restaurant in Michigan City

This was my girlfriend and I’s first stop for some food in Michigan City. Our waitress was nice but she kept trying not to laugh while taking our orders, which I found odd. As she came back to ask for our food orders she was just straight up laughing at us. I’m assuming it was because she knew we we’re from out of town and thought it was funny. Other than that the food was bussin! I ordered the “special burger” which I didn’t find to be all that special. It was just an ordinary burger with standard toppings. My girlfriend liked her grilled cheese and the soda we both got had plenty of carbonation. It had a classic diner feel with the old music playing to boot. My family loves this charming restaurant! I'm a foodie and I love to try interesting new dishes, but my family likes the good old American favorites. Usually I'm bored by the restaurants they choose, but Schoop's does the simple things right! We've been there twice now, and plan to go again when our adventures take us up 94. The burger tastes so fresh, and there's Crispy bits around the edges from being smashed on the griddle. I ordered the mushroom Swiss, and the mushrooms are very fresh, perfectly seasoned. The jumbo corn muffin is quite sweet for me, but my vegetarian daughter loved it and it's definitely jumbo. My son is very critical about hamburgers, but he really enjoyed his and ate every bite (which is rare!). The flavored lemonades are great, though they are very sweet as well. So me and my family went here yesterday and the atmosphere was cool gave off good vibes with the way the place was set up. Why it was a nice looking place when we ordered our food my significant other was ordering for both of us and I said clear as day to the waiter I'll have the same but I didn't receive food and she had to go correct the order..we got the Mickey and some some schoop loops but the shakes were decent but I wouldn't say the burgers were what they were made out to be. Kind of reminded me of a whopper from burger king.
