It’s unfortunate that while we believe we have come so far as a society coupled with technological advances, there are reminders that we have not. One of these reminders occurred at the McDonald’s on Harrisburg Pike in Carlisle Pa. this morning. I walked in and waited to be attended to at the counter. After a few minutes I was directed to the “kiosk”, which I was not familiar with…..call me outdated, uninformed and/or behind the times but I generally enter these types of establishments and have a direct exchange for goods and services with the employee(s) working there. I explained that I was not sure how to use the kiosk and asked how to insert the US currency. I was told that money is not accepted at the kiosk coupled with the dismissive and impatient tone in the employee’s tone. One of the employees actually came out and tapped the screen (I should give credit for this selfless act) and then walked away as I was in the midst of asking what happens next. Neither of these ladies had any intention of having anything else to do with me at that point. I asked what the store location # was and then asked if I should just go to the drive through but continued to be ignored. So I left and now I am sitting in the parking lot writing my very first review. I couldn’t help but notice in other reviews that this McDonald’s seems to be well thought of or despised, there appears to be no middle ground. At the end of the day, my impressions and experience at this restaurant will be somewhat unremarkable and benign in the grand scheme but it is an example and symptom of the growing problem of a disassociated society. One could suggest just going to another McDonald’s (there were at least 40+ on the stretch of Rt. 81 I was on today), there’s bound to be a location where the employees take their job seriously and...
Read moreThis McDonald's is very convenient bc it's the easy eatery to get to, before entering the turnpike. We stop here all the time as we return back to Ohio from visiting in Pa. We were traveling Tuesday after Christmas, at approximately 10ish am, when we stopped. It was quit evident that they were short staff. Customers were lined up to the door to be waited on. Every table had food particles still on them. Partial strawberry drink was on the table aside of the tray return place. Made me wonder if this was left like this from the day before (if they were open and staff wanted to get home for their Christmas ?). Even the trash can were pretty full for only having 4 trays sitting on top. I wiped the crumbs off our table so we could eat. Our food was hot and staff was rushing to get everyones food out to the customers. And it remained busy with customers even after we were done eating, because we had to excuses ourselves as we made it through the waiting customers, AT THE DOOR. If this was corporate idea to limit staff, it was a poor decision. Like I said before, this is the MOST convenient place to stop, since it is on the same side, before entering the turnpike. This is a GOLD MINE for whomever owns this place of business. You need to have suffienct staffing so they can provide quality served and clean facility. Because I for one, if this keeps happening, I will cross the road and go to the truck stop or take my business to another eatery long before I come to the...
Read moreStopped in on a sudden trip thru Pennsylvania and we needed a break from driving, breakfast, and a bathroom. My friend and I ordered first. In making our order, the man taking it (A Tuesday AM about 930am - 01/08/19) seemed to have an attitude that we were being bothersome to even make an order. Especially when I ordered my "Senior" coffee, with the cream and sugar on the side.
The restaurant was clean, but very old style furnishings, and the number of people in there as customers was very scant, maybe 5 people dining total, and an empty parking lot.
There seemed to be only 3 folks on duty working there. None of which welcomed us on entering or even making eye contact until we said we were ready to order. None of them smiled. In the back grille/sandwich prep area was a shaggy haired fellow, who seemed quite young, and not appearing to be doing much of anything.
We got our food "to go", leaving and getting back on the road. A short while later, on opening our sandwiches, it was found the meat (all our breakfast sandwiches were with sausage patties) were quite overly cooked, near burnt, and the bread on the stale side.
Needless to say, with the number of McDonald's restaurants within the Mid-Atlantic region, this McDonald's in the Carlisle, Pennsylvania area should be avoided if at...
