UPDATE; not even 12 hours later my husband and I have Severe food poisoning and can barely take care of our child. You need to do better 🤢 its not just about opening and making money- its about caring for what you put out in the world.
Just finished dinner at Leblon in Langhorne/ Levittown Pa. And if you’re looking for a good Brazilian Steak house, id keep looking. If you want to try it I suggest you do maybe you will find it to your liking , but I have been to many Brazilian Steak houses (some good and some not so good) I have also been a local in Middletown for many years and have seen this buildings location have many turnovers. Which is a shame nothing seems like it can stay.
The staff was very nice and cant say anything bad about them (except you needed more of them- to help with drinks, multiple parties etc.) they were very welcoming. But I wouldn't say that was enough for me to come back. Heres the breakdown. It was myself and my husband for dinner we did the “full” experience which was the buffet table (different appetizers and salads) then the main dishes that were distributed table side. We did not get any sides to the table(although other tables did). We did not get more than one drink each (soda, and a bottle of water- no ice) we were also frustrated that there was no menus to look and see what they had to offer. We seemed to get the same 3 meats over and over again. (Flank, sirloin & bacon wrapped filet) honestly most of the meats were not good. (Bacon weapped filet was over cooked, the lamb was very oddly flavored ( tasted like it was sitting on a paper towel for to long or something- very odd) and the beef rib was soooo incredibly fatty) The flank was probably the best- but also the cheapest cut of steak. When done we were asked what we wanted for dessert and without a menu the waitress listed the choices. Which seemed to be different for each table. The table to the left of us ordered bananas flambé and the table ti the right was offered a flourless cake. We were not offered either choice (what we were offered was papaya ice cream, flan, tres leches cake & one other item but can remember what it was- something chocolate maybe ?- but wasn't a cake) Which again would have been nice to see a menu. We got the Tres Leche cake and papaya Ice cream (my husband panic order cause again no menus) dessert seemed like it took forever. And my husbands “papaya” ice cream seemed more like a smoothie in a margarita glass which also tasted like it was cross contaminated with some kind of meat. Ive had Papaya before and it definitely tasted different. All together for two dinners and two desserts, 1 coke and 1 bottle (acqua panna water) of water. Our total without any alcohol (they didn't get their licenses yet) $150 before tip. And with tip $178. ($75 pp/ +tip) My husband and I never care about prices for food/ dinners (yes even in this economy) but they have to be worth it. And I'm sorry this was not worth it.
Ill finish by saying this- again I have seen this place change many times and I hope they can make this place stick. But what I would suggest is, be ready for your opening (dont make a soft launch without having your i’s dotted and your T’s crossed) meaning have alcohol, have more staff to cover tables even if you think it will be slow. And please have menus with more information. You only opened a few days ago, and it takes time to train staff and figure out your footing. I hope you eventually do. I will also compliment you on your building as the changes you made are nice and seems very authentic to Brazil 🇧🇷 which is beautiful. Also your salad/appetizer bar had a lot of good choices. You had this one item that was a cream sauce and chicken (i had it over the white rice) and it was veryyyy good- compliments to the chef on that one. (Side note maybe mark the appetizers with names or more visible signage if you did have them- especially for people with allergies)
Will we come back…. Maybe…. But for those prices unlikely for a “okay” experience and subpar...
Read moreAwful, abysmal, atrocious, all of these equate to Leblon. Less the ambiance and decoration at Leblon, everything is lacking, service, quality, food, and even decorum.
Let’s start from the top. Arrived for our reservation of 7 people and were then seated at a table with 6 chairs, 6 sets of utensils, but 8 place settings, except one was for the wall as the table was pushed against it, interesting, but not a huge deal, we were able to get our 7th chair and utensils from another table, even if by ourselves. The service started out, water/soda, but no menu with any other (non alcoholic as they don’t have their license yet) drinks or even a listing of offered drinks.
We get up to the buffet and none of the buffet items had names or descriptions as if everyone who will eat there will know exactly what everything is and allergies don’t exist, wouldn’t generally be a problem but there was no one to ask and the people you could ask didn’t speak English. One side of the salad bar had no light, literally forcing you to get closer into the buffet to see, and breathe all over the food, nothing like someone else’s mouth bacteria in my potato salad, the other side had some light, but insufficient.
The service throughout the night could only be described as horrendous. The meat service was beyond slow, so much so, that a member of our party left early, after sitting for over an hour and only being served 3-4 times. I asked for a menu to see the meat selections and was told that there are 15 meats and they will all come around, but failed to mention any by name. By the end of our meal, about 2 hours in, only 7-8 meats were served and doubles of the cheaper cuts of meat. We were never served a refill on our cheesy bread until we asked for the 4th time. When we asked they said it was baking, and the other times they just forgot, until the end of the meal when I specifically mentioned that we asked multiple times and it was never brought it out. A member of our party also asked for hot peppers, 3-4 times, to multiple waiters/waitresses, and all said they had them and they would bring them out, but none did. Although, someone did bring out some Texas Pete’s to the table……at a Brazilian steakhouse. The quality of the food was also poor, evidently based on how everyone in our party had to rush home and pray to the porcelain god.
Leblon charges a premium price for a less than subpar experience and poor quality of food. If this was the first restaurant, some of these things would be excusable, but this is the second location of one in NJ. I will not return and would advise any, and everyone to stay away. After paying $75 per person, out the door, one would expect to be, at the very least, satisfied, but 100% of our party felt the same as above. Adding salt to the wound, I received an email from the restaurant the following day that it was pleasure to have me (us) as their guest, they sure didn’t act like it.
I would like to say, that for the many, many faults, the chicken nuggets, oxtail stew, and honey were very good.
As a side note, the amount of soap dispensed by the dispensers in the men’s bathroom is not sufficient enough to wash the hands of an infant. For the amount of money they charge, and they people they don’t hire, and the lights they don’t have, and the meat they don’t serve, they can easily afford to dispense a little more soap instead of making me move my hand 15 times to dispense some soap.
Overall I would not recommend and will certainly not be revisiting unless they openly update their menu, increase their staff, and get better quality cuts. Save your money or go somewhere else. I had high hopes as this was fairly local and easily accessible, but it seems it was not...
Read moreThis Brazilian steakhouse is classy, sleek, minimalistic, and high end with all-black decor, perfect for formal dinners. The music is not too noticeable - it's very quiet and calm with a bit of an elevator music sound to it. Decor-wise, there are no paintings or kitsch, besides one giant abstract black and white wave in one corner. There are some pots with fake plants here and there. The bar area has hanging calla lilies, which is quite creative, and the salad bar is decorated with lots of green plants and a beautiful accent from the red poinsettias.
As far as dinner goes, it's $55 per person for the "full experience," which is essentially an all-you-can-eat salad bar, along with servers coming around with freshly-cooked different cuts of meat and offering you what you wish (which is generally how Brazilian steakhouses work, but I thought I'd describe it for those unfamiliar. It's a great way to get to try tons of different cuts and types of meat, since you're getting a couple bites of each type). Again, this part is all-you-can-eat, so you can have as much meat as you like and have repeats of the same meat dishes if you find something you really like.
The salad bar had dishes like mussels, oxtail stew, fried bananas, hearts of palm, mozzarella balls, potato salad, beef carpaccio, and mashed potatoes. The oxtail stew was a real standout, as was all the meat from the rotating meat selection. All of the meat was amazingly tender and almost falling apart. The oxtail stew didn't even need chewing, it was so soft. For the rotating meat selection, the meat was very heavy and hearty, but delicious. As my dining companion said, "whoever cooks the meat knows exactly what they are doing," and I wholeheartedly agree. I think it's best to come very hungry, as it's definitely heavy and filling food.
For dessert, we had a tres leches cake and a flan. Both had raspberry sauce and white chocolate drizzled on top, which went nicely with the dishes. The flan was a lot more solid than normal - I think that's the Brazilian style? - and both were tasty. The cake was a tad sweet for my liking, but my dining companion liked it, so there's definitely a dessert for everyone. Mind that dessert is not included in the full experience, so for us (table of 2), the total bill including tips was ~$160.
The service was great - everyone was friendly and professional, with smart black uniforms. The whole place feels so much more high-end than the price point suggests. It's great for special occasions, bringing in-laws, a wedding reception, things like that. I struggle to think of any restaurant I've been to with such great food and service at this price point. I'd highly, highly recommend...
