Quality of clothes is good, shopped here once.
Tried selling my clothes to them for the first time but was not aware of any policies and that the last time to sell is at 7:00pm. I walked in at 7:30pm. They took my information and the manager told me sheâll get to it first thing in the morning. After she walked away, she had another employee take over and verify my information. I was told that someone will call when it was ready. This was at night on 5/3/24.
Today, 5/8/24 i get a call saying that my clothes were ready and there was an offer. So when i called back i was told that my clothes have been donated (its protocol) because i left it at the store on friday and i didnt respond to and âemailâ. The woman that I spoke to first was the assistant manager who had no idea which bag even belonged to me. So i was told false information. I was upset because no one sent me an email, no one called me & Im being told that my clothes were donated. Her response was ânext time check your emailâ - i did - there was no email or phone call (until today) - i asked to speak to the manager and she stayed on the phone saying she was the manager. - the head manager took the phone from her and mentioned she was the one that helped me that day and âno one told me to leave the storeâ. - the truth is, no one told me to stay in the store. The words i received from her that day was âIm ready to leave and the end time for selling is at 7pm, its passed that time and weâre no longer checking bags. If you leave yours here I will check it first thing in the morningâ. I left my bag and never seen her again. The employee that she had help me after she walked away said âwe will call you when its completeâ. - NO ONE mentioned my stuff getting donated if I left my bag or if I was receiving an email (although i did not receive anything until the phone call today).
If you are planning on SELLING here â Do not leave your stuff there over night even if they tell you to, just bring it back the next day. They lied and filled up different stories throughout their conversation with me to cover themselves and did not apologies...
Read moreStaff members were very rude and not helpful. It was my first time so I went in smiling and asked what the process is and they were very curt and acted so snobby just pointing me over to the iPad to check in. After I waited 30 minutes for my items to be checked, then didnât even show me which items they chose to sell. I had brought in 4 bags and they only picked two. When I asked why the others werenât considered, she ignored me and just handed me the receipt. It wrote that items were older than 2 years and faded, which most were not older than 2 years and none were faded, they were in very good condition. Also their website does not state that they exclude items over 2 years. The 2 items they did choose were over 2 years old so that was contradictory. I was only able to see them take one item that had a tag on it but was over 10 years old so the unwritten ânothing over 2 years oldâ rule seems unnecessary. I still donât know what the second item they took is since I was never shown. For just the 2 items, they gave me $4 and didnât even ask if I wanted them back instead. They asked if they could take the rest of my clothes to donate even though I had said no on the check in tablet but I donât trust them because theyâd probably just try to sell it so I said no Iâll take it to Goodwill where I know itâll be sold for way cheaper than this place to people who actually need it. While waiting, I saw so many worn out clothes that looked in way worse condition than what I brought in so it was just funny that they were so rude about what I brought in. And they were trying to upsell things as if itâs a high-in store. Tj Maxx has cheaper clothes that have not been used. Iâve always given donations to Goodwill since itâs a reliable good cause but wanted to try selling some things as a college student and thought it was a reputable place. It reminded me that Goodwill is a way better option. Wasnât worth my time and I definitely did not need to be treated like that. I will never be coming here for anything again and have warned my friends to go...
Read moreWhat a great shopping experience, with the kind of customer service I haven't seen anywhere in decades. The staff here blew me away with how genuinely nice they were to customer after customer.
It was my first trip to the store and the Dollar Days promo I saw on FB got me in. I was not disappointed. Amazing selection of super cool shoes and boots, top brands, designer pocketbooks, club outfits, dresses, skirts, office casual, men's wear and all around comfort clothing with a few vintage items in the mix.
Assistant Manager Hailey checked in on me a couple of times, got me an extra cart when my first one was tipping over and just couldn't have made my thrifting experience any better throughout my whole 3 hours in the store. She even put a 24 hour hold on my 2 carts full of clothes, so I could come back with my son to have him try items on.
On top of all this, the offers on trade-ins were really generous and available in cash or store credit (10% discount on purchases with the credit). Lastly, shopping here was designed for ease - bins of sale items by size, but also Dollar Day sale items mixed in on the racks, which I thought would be a pain to hunt through, but the sale items were clearly marked and all tags were on the outside, so swiftly sifting through was a breeze (no hunting to find the price-tag) and the method of sorting through the racks to locate the deals really encouraged me to find items I loved and wouldn't have looked at otherwise (smart way to up sales). I could see how the sale turned over items quickly and got new inventory in the store. I want to see what came in during the sale that will be on the racks in a couple of weeks.
I will be back, I will be telling all my girlfriends about Uptown Cheapskate. This store is that rare find - a hidden gem & a fantastic shopping experience! Kudos to the owner for finding such awesome staff & running a consignment store the way it...
