So, it's been almost a year since my original post, and things have definitely gotten better! They're much better at making the sandwiches, and they're even trying to remember regular customer's orders. For the last 5 months or so, I've now been eating here (take-out every time) at least 3 or 4 times a month (not quite once a week, but almost), and don't have too many issues (other than the same issues at any Jersey Mike's: high prices, limited soda selection, and they need to include Miracle Whip!). But, for some reason, the Newark sandwiches still taste better than this location.
ORIGINAL POST:
They haven't worked out all the kinks since they opened.
I eat at the Jersey Mike's in Newark all the time, so I was really looking forward to having one at home in Middletown. Unfortunately, they still haven't ironed out all the kinks of opening the new place.
I've tried the place twice, and both times it took at least ten minutes to get my order (more than 15 minutes the first time, and about 12 minutes the second time, when most Jersey Mike's locations will have you in and out in less than 5 minutes), and both times I had to correct them on how I wanted my sandwich - I do not like raw onions so I never order it "Mike's way" - but that seems to be the only way they know how make sandwiches.
A major issue was that the employees kept playing musical chairs with their roles - normally there are three people behind the counter: one cutting the meat, one doing the condiments, and one at the register. Both times I was there, there were at least five or six people that worked on my sandwich from the time that I ordered it to the time I paid for it, which cause quite a bit of confusion. Like I said, they still need to work out the kinks (and get their employees trained!).
I'll wait a few months and then...
Read moreThe Italian sub with turkey instead of ham, Mike's way, is my absolute favorite sandwich in the entire state of Delaware. You can taste the quality and freshness in the selection/ingredients this location uses. As a commuter, I've tried Jersey Mike's in multiple locations and states, and I'm just so thankful this one is a 5-star location in my book & is so close to our home.
The customer service here is top-notch which you can tell trickles down from leadership/management. I've seen this location's team members hold open doors for elderly customers, stay super professional when they're slammed and take orders 1 minute from closing time with smiles on their faces. You don't see that at every restaurant but I'm glad I've witnessed that here countless times. Thanks Jersey's for being the best sub place...
Read moreI had been craving a tuna sub ALL DAY last Friday. I decided to try the Jersey Mike's here in Middletown. Normally, I am a Capriotti's fan. But, I wanted to try something different. First, I got two giant subs and it was almost $30!!! Yikes! But, I don't care about price, if the food is good. Well, I get home (I only live 7 minutes away, per Google) and open my sub. All this moisture is on the paper. The bottom half of my sub bread is totally soggy!! Yuck! The tuna was actually tasty, but the soggy bun made the sandwich so gross. But at that price, I was going to eat it. The next day, of course, the bread was worse and I ended up throwing it away. My husband said that his cheese steak was mediocre. So very disappointing. A...
