The raw, unfinished walls and rustic seating are a nice touch at WhichCraft. They serve as a good reminder that many of the buildings in Downtown Midland have a long history and the old brickwork and the obvious scars of change show the character of the place like the weathered look of an old barn. So to speak. Because this is a bar/restaurant, not a barn. Repeat, there is no barn. It was just an analogy. Never mind.
Going to a bar/restaurant in the mid to late afternoon is often dangerous. Not in the never-sit-with-your-back-to-the-door way, but more in the threat of bad service. More than once I've been disappointed with service during the afternoon lull, when there are often few customers. That was not the case here. The down-right chipper staff was very attentive and carefully explained the ins and outs of the way, very impressive brew selection and then answered all of our questions about the menu. Our food was delivered promptly, warm and fresh. What more can you ask? Oh, maybe some out-dang-standing local brews. Not a problem. Lately, I've been avoiding brews in favor of wines, but I made an exception at WhichCraft and I'm glad I did. I chose a light ale and it was delicious.
Generally, I include a review of the restroom but this time, I just never made it in there. So, sorry. You're on your own there.
In keeping with the level of service, our very reasonable tab was delivered on request and promptly paid. So, nice atmosphere, good service, good food and drinks at reasonable prices. I don't give five stars lightly, but WhichCraft deserves each and every one of them. Good...

I ordered the Turkey Avocado Melt which is advertised as being smokey, creamy, sweet & salty. There was hardly any of the onion marmalade on the sandwich to fulfill the sweet advertisement. It didn't taste salty at all either. Requested salt/pepper which helped greatly. This was $21 which would have came with chips as a side but I upgraded for an additional $3 for a house salad. I should've gotten soup. All I can say is never in my life have I had a balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing that BURNED during consumption. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that it was not mixed correctly? Hard to say but that was a weird experience. If the dish had been cheaper, maybe $18 at most, I wouldn't feel so strongly about the experience but for an almost $25 dish that lacked in so many ways, it's a bit frustrating to spend so much money on disappointment.
Boyfriend ordered the sliders & tater tot dish. The dish would benefit greatly if the buns were toasted. They were soft and when the filling of all 3 sliders are also soft & creamy a bit of crunch to the bun would make it more appetizing. His tater tot dish was the best meal but for how large it was, 2 small containers of sour cream vs one would seem like a fair offer.
Don't look up when you're dining in. The amount of cobwebs and dust that have collected on the light fixtures, overhead metal is insane. I get it... probably not the easiest thing to clean but no one wants a tuft of that to come down on...
Read moreWe are regulars but if we try to bring our young daughter in with us to have dinner, etc. during the daytime hours, we are often (not always) met with rude hostesses who act like us bringing our child is a nuisance. We came in with space clearly available for us yet were told there was no room with our child. We found if we tried to get a table without our child we could instantly get one. The hostesses seem to dislike families/children which is unfortunate as we have been regulars since whichcraft opened and have not felt unwelcome until very recently while bringing our very well behaved child who is immediately discriminated against as soon as bringing her. Interesting since the hostesses that seem to have the problem with her being there are the ones who are likely under 22. We’ve also been made fun of by wait staff for coming regularly which made us extremely uncomfortable and missing the old wait staff who seemed to appreciate customers instead of eye rolling us and complaining that...
