I ordered the new Caprese Salami Pesto on wheat with chips and a small drink. When they gave my total at $16.83 I thought that seemed high, but I quickly glanced at the menu, confirmed my order was right and assume quick mental math had me thinking I was probably the one in the wrong.
So I get my order and check the recept. They charged me $1 more than the menu price for the sandwich, 20 cents extra for the chips, and even though I asked for and was given a small drink cup I was charged for a medium.
Initially I still think this must be an honest mistake somehow, so I ask the guy at the register if there was an upcharge for the wheat, he said no. So I ask about the dollar extra (haven't even mentioned the drink or chip yet) and he says "That's the price and I can't change it." He must know there's going to be trouble because he almost immediately leaves and someone else steps up. Doesn't introduce himself or anything and explains that the "prices were changed by corporate" and that he keeps trying to put stickers over the price, but they keep falling off. He offers me a cookie... a cookie. I tell him I want the price difference refunded. This entire time he's talking over me, accusing me of being rude, saying I should have handled thing's better. I've never once raised my voice, I started this entire conversation with the assumption that I was misunderstanding or missing an upcharge or something.
Finally I just tell him I want the difference refunded. And if he can't do that I want the full order refunded and he can take the food back. Again he's defensive and arguing, saying I don't need to be rude. I gave 2 stars since in the end I did get a full refund and he let me keep the order. The food was great, but the customer service was terrible. You can't steal (no matter how small the amount) from your customers and then get mad when they call...
Read moreI ordered the beach club and after a few bites I noticed there was only toppings on my sandwich, no meat. I called the store to tell them and the guy on the phone was very disinterested as if this happens a lot and it didn't shock him. He offered to make me a new sub but I was already back at work, so he told me he gave me credit for a free sub and I would just need to tell them my phone number when I came in again. The next day I came in again and gave them my phone number to redeem my free sub (I ordered the beach club again), and the employees could not find any record of my credit towards a free sub (I had a feeling that would happen). After 4 employees attempted to look me up, they just gave me the sub and said I was good to go (they never found evidence that the guy on the phone gave me credit for a free sub). When I got him I immediately noticed the sub once again only had toppings on it, no meat. I called the store again and explained that there was still no meat on my sub and once again, the employee was very unapologetic and disinterested, and offered me abother credit for a free sandwich. Two days later I came back to pick up my free sandwich and once again, the employees had no record of my credit under my phone number. They gave me the free sandwich (finally with meat on it) but the meat had really nasty parts that I kept having to pull off of my sandwich, very chewy and brown inedible parts of turkey. The bread was also hard and stale. I took 2 or 3 bites and threw it out. I don't think I'll be...
Read moreI don't know if they are still understaffed or if the staff just doesn't care anymore. Maybe it's a bit of both.
They close way too early, and apparently rarely deliver now. I don't think the "Subs so fast you'll freak" is even their slogan anymore...more like "if you are able to get a sub from us you'll freak".
Beyond the nebulous operational schedule, they make mistakes that are more confusing than anything. Ordered a Hunter's Club with extra roast beef...got it home (because they didn't deliver that random day), and it was a Hunters Club with roast beef (normal amount) and turkey....? Like, it takes more effort to mess up a sandwich that way than to just forget the extra meat.
Also, if they say they close at 7, you better pray you don't get there at 7:00:01. They take that closing time seriously. On one rare occasion where they were actually delivering, I was told I shouldn't even bother ordering food at 6:40 because they closed in 20 minutes. OK...guess I'll take my money across the street then? Maybe they should have a commission-based pay to have some incentive to provide at least passable customer service?
But whatever - it's a sandwich, and basic one at that. Shame on me for being too lazy to just make it myself I guess.
Not...
