Mac's BBQ & Catering — Restaurant in Midland

I would like to start with stating that the food was very good!! We had a pretty big order for my company dinner. It was scheduled for pick up at 9:30am. I showed up a little after 9am and did not leave until 10:30am. The staff were SUPER friendly but the atmosphere seemed very chaotic. We did not get our mac and cheese or corn bread but got green bean casserole and stuffing instead. We were not told of these changes and don't know if it was intentional or a mistake. Either way, again, the food was very good and the staff were very friendly amongst the chaos. I also had to wait for them to brew tea for our order. I feel that maybe our order was a little big and being this time of year I completely understand that they were super busy. All in all, we had a really nice dinner...

Overall, not worth the price. Dry, tough brisket; flavorless pulled pork; way too much black pepper on the green beans, but no real sweetness or flavor to them; and the two sauce choices are both runny and uninteresting. The original one basically just tastes like smokey ketchup, while the sweet and spicy one is basically just liquid black pepper. If you mix them together they make an alright sauce, but it doesn't seem to compliment anything. The atmosphere is great: very much what you'd expect from Texas barbecue. The outdoor seating area is very nice for a barbecue joint. Food was cold and not that tasty. Steer clear of the BBQ bowl. You don't realize until you get to the cash register that you are paying for the weight of your meat plus your sides at $12 a lb. You ask for a 'small' amount of green beans and pinto beans and the lady swamps your bowl with them - not knowing that they will overcharge for these, you don't ask to have them removed. 0.45 lbs of turkey and 0.5 lbs of sausage ended up costing over $37, thanks to the beans - really? So not worth it. I almost asked them to remove the beans to lower the costs but I didn't want to cause a scene. I do not recommend unless you like cold over priced BBQ. There is better bbq at a better price - heck, HEB's...
