Been meaning to review this place and give it a good review because I come here almost every day as its right by my office and I like Taco Villa a lot. The reason this WOULD have a 5 star review is almost entirely because of Alonzo who I see every day (except today) taking orders accurately and seeing to his other duties cleaning and maintaining the dining area and condiments bar. Alonzo is great.
What's not great? Employees on their phones on the makeline. Phones are our most-touched object and not exactly easy to sanitize. No point in gloves if those gloves are touching phones.
I approached the counter, manager was right there on the makeline between taking orders. I said "Excuse me is he touching his phone while making our food?"
Manager said "I'll get him off the line now, sir. Calm down there's no need to.." I just cut him off and told him it was gross. There's EVERY reason to stop things like this. The worker in question took off his gloves and showed his hands up to argue and went to wash his hands, which he didnt use soap and returned to the line.
Everything about the above interactions tells me that isn't just the worker's fault for not understanding and allowing their immaturity to argue and fuss about it while fixing the problem.
I recall a time when I desperately needed a job and Taco Villa said I was "overqualified." Clearly qualified in their eyes means willing to risk your customer's health. This is a problem you fix from...
Read moreTaco Villa is a West Texas classic; fond memories from growing up and more recent. I went today for something more vegetarian friendly and cost effective. I must say, the first and best thing about this visit was the front counter person, Robert. He was initially explaining kid meal options to the family in front of me, with courtesy and humor. He was friendly, funny and frankly, a bright spot and breath of fresh air with his banter and customer service skills. He was quick, efficient and kind. He even checked on me later in the meal. I typically get a Guadalajara tostada, (guacamole tostada) and love that it's such a tasty and healthy veggie type option. (I try to be more wfpb but make allowances for a little meat here and there). Today, I chose the guacamole salad, and it's just as good, especially w the crispy bowl. Prices have increased, but that's true everywhere, unfortunately. I love the fact they still include black olives on their items and their unique blend of taco meat, which is more mooshy than crumbley. The crispy chicken taco had a good amount of meat in it, very flavorful. All in all, it's still the classic Taco Villa experience and Robert just added flair to...
Read moreBAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! 8/20/21 Got a Taco and Grill Chicken Burrito. Taco was in pieces, no sauce on burrito. Drive thru person (green shirt) was too busy to be kind. Not going back. Used to be the best location. WASTED TEN DOLLARS AND I FEEL BAD. This WAS the best Taco Villa (Courtyard Drive)! Went there 6/27/18 at 6:18 pm got two grilled chicken burritos. They were perfect! The manager was making the counter orders and she is great! There is another lady manager (lunch run I think) and she is great as well! Both deserve raises! Update: Went in 8/27/18, and ordered the chicken quesadilla. To my shock they were made in advance setting waiting on me. Opened it up and the cheese had hardened from setting. Luke warm pre-made quesadillas are not what I want from Taco Villa. The quesadilla was only cut in half not in four pieces....
