In short: Midvale location "This is now the most expensive indian food excursion we have had, and it is easily the most disappointing. there are many other places to go and enjoy within 10 miles, so consider your other options"
My wife and i adore indian food. We had our wedding catered with our favorite dishes. We try to not visit the same restaurant too often as each seems to have their own style. Ganesh has a style truly all its own, and a style i will pass on when given a choice.
Our sizable order included of course, chicken tikka masala, an order of both vegetable and lamb samosas, lamb naan, and garlic naan.
The garlic naan was fantastic, but every indian place gets this right, so dont let this convince you to come here. The lamb naan was a surprise as well, and was delicious and spicy. Unfortunately, thats where the positive ends.
Chicken tikka masala is easily the most popular indian dish at every indian food restaurant. Its accessible, and a great introduction for anyone to indian food. The chicken tikka masala we were served at ganesh lacked any of the complex flavors. Unlike many other renditions we know and love, there was a distinct lack of peppers, or any vegetable, and even seemed to lack the garam masala spice we have come to expect. The dish was absolutely not what we hoped for; it smells and tastes almost sickly sweet - Sweet enough i mistook the odour for pineapple. We ordered it hot, which was the perfect heat, but the sweetness ruined the dish for us both. My wife described the tikka masala as "sweet and spicy tomato soup".
The vegetable samosas would be better of named potato samosas, as they didnt contain anything else. The lamb samosas were decent, but again lacked any complex spices or flavors.
The counter and waiting staff were very nice, and personable. Unfortunately, this is not a review of their personalities but a warning to anyone who likes indian food, and has enjoyed it elsewhere.
This would all be understandable, had the price of our meal reflected the quality. This is now among the most expensive indian food excursions we have had, and it is easily the most disappointing.
If anyone in the Salt Lake Valley ever has the inclination to go to the restaurant called Ganesh Indian Cuisine, DON'T!!!!!!!!!
They are WAY overpriced, and the food is terrible, as well as the service. My mother and i went for their lunch buffet, and pretty much everything was gone, and they wouldn't refill it. The food was cold. We asked for no ice in our drinks repeatedly, and he kept putting the ice in anyway.
The owner went to clear some of the plates on the table, and he knocked over my 3/4 full mango juice, and imstead of immediately cleaning it up, he let it sit there for about 4 minutes before asking if we'd like him to clean it up, which he then proceeded to do with a DRY napkin. He moved us, and when we requested a certain table, he said no, and sat us somewhere else. He then let me go 10 more minutes without a drink, at which point, Mom had to say something. He brought it, and charged us for that one too, even though HE spilled it.
THEN, he brought out some sort of dish that looked like chicken innards and smelled (and tasted) like feet. He asked if I would like some, and I very politely told him no thank you, but he piled 4 giant spoonfuls of it right onto my curry, and probably would have put more, had I not told him that I'm pregnant and can't eat too much. He kept trying to take our plates while we were still eating, as well. There was only one other table that had anyone at it in the whole restaurant, and they left about 10 minutes after we got there, so he wasn't busy. He just lacked people skills.
AWFUL experience!
When you go for a buffet, and you pay a high end buffet price, you expect the buffet to be fully stocked. When we walked in, there were 2 pans of cold, crusty rice, a round of Na'an bread, and some cold curry sauce. He offered to let us choose ONE of the dishes that was SUPPOSED to be on the buffet, and he would make it, and even then, it was at least half an hour before we got anything that we had asked for, and it was cold. The buffet should have gone another hour after we had arrived, so there is no excuse to not have FRESH HOT food at the buffet. He charged us the whole buffet price, but we did not get the full...
Read moreTo start off with, I’ve looked at a Facebook post that said Ganesh Restaurant was going to be opened today. I’m sorry, it said ‘GRAND OPENING’ I’ve gone there at their first hour and it wasn’t like I expected it to be first off. We drove thirty minutes as it said grand opening, and the door was locked from the outside (no signs showing it’s open) and after a min. some customer opened it for us when they were leaving. When we were inside and asked them about the door being locked there was a petty response from the front desk lady. We gave our order for takeaway and they have double confirmed the order to make sure. They still managed to miss the chicken biriyani that I’ve ordered.. (we haven’t checked before leaving thinking it will be there and it was confirmed twice - I’ll take this on me)
Worst experience.
And the front desk lady was trying to be sarcastic about the door.. asking us if it got opened when we came back for pickup. (How’ll I come inside if the door was locked, lady?)
The guy who took the order gave baseless responses when I called him up. He was arguing with me saying, why am I feeling bad if I’ve not paid for the biriyani that I haven’t received. This was the response I’ve got.
The guy whoever is at the front, forgets to take your orders correctly. Repeat him 100 times and make sure you check your bag before you leave.
POOR STAFF. POOR SERVICE. SAECASTIC AND...
