Mr. Sushi | Have You Tried This Columbus Japanese Restaurant?

We're new to sushi and this place is delicious! When you go, you'll get regular menus but then also a paper/sheet version & pen so you can track your choices. I appreciated this because otherwise I'd have a hard time keeping track of our order. The Volcano Cajun roll (far right) is to die for, as is the fried Philly roll with smoked salmon and cream cheese (lower right)... We'd order both of these again when we go back. My daughter enjoyed the simple avocado rolls (far left) with soy sauce. We also had the Caribbean rolls (lower left) which were good but too sweet for dinner for my taste, very prominent banana flavor. The Trust Me roll (upper left) and Kanikatsu (upper right) were also delicious, of which, I preferred the Kanikatsu. We're definitely going back. Very happy to find this place! My son had their udon noodles and liked them.

Very clean, very simple euphoric atmosphere. Very pleasant service. Friendly, well manored staff. The food was simply delicious. For starters I enjoyed perfectly salted edamama. Steamed to perfection. While I enjoyed a salad that was incredibly fresh. The dressing was to die for. I then dined on a crab, tuna, and shrimp roll. Extremely tasty. The tuna was by far my favorite though. And last the chicken teriyaki. The chicken was incredibly moist with perfectly cooked vegetables broccoli, carrots, onion, mushrooms, zucchini. And the teriyaki sauce was not lacking in flavor, impeccable! I highly recommend eating here if you enjoy sushi! Even if you're not a sushi fan the had plenty to dine on!

My friends and I walked in to dine in for 5. We were greeted by a waitress that immediately gave us waters. Before she asked for our orders, she mentioned that because were a party of 5, we “must tip 20%”. I thought this was very rude and unprofessional (I’ve never been inside a restaurant in my entire life with a waiter or waitress bringing up gratuity). Afterwards, I specified that our checks would all be separate; she rolled her eyes at us at the inconvenience of splitting our checks. Also very rude and unfriendly. I specified what I wanted to order, however she misinterpreted my order by giving me two out of the four rolls incorrectly. She seemed frustrated at me as she approached and made her case with me that I was in the wrong by ordering something I didn’t want. I had to explain myself to the waitress that I simply did not ask for those rolls; mentioning that I do not eat tuna whatsoever, (what she thought I ordered). I found her confrontation to be very rude as she handled it with a bad tone that left me very uncomfortable. My friends were also unsettled by her behavior. I wasn’t even that upset that my order was mistaken, more so the way she dealt with it. After this occurred, she left our table to be served by other waitresses. All of this and our meals were still being prepared. As we were eating, my friend noticed a hair in her sushi before she picked up the sushi with her chopsticks, also very unsettling. That same waitress that confronted me about my wrong order approached us again raising her voice at the table that it was not the kitchens fault that the hair was in the sushi, that it was our fault. The hair was blonde; The only person in the party with blonde hair was sitting directly across from the friend that had it in her sushi. I’ve been here several others times and never had such poor service. The sushi is always exceptional, however, i am a little hesitant to say that now after a hair was discovered in one of the rolls. If I plan to eat here again I most certainly do not plan to be served here again. Overall the staff blamed us for the things that was at fault on their end. My party and I were very disappointed...

I would give zero stars. Not because there food is not great, but because their customer service was atrocious. I have been a loyal customer for probably 7+ years. Back before they even remodeled the place, got popular and upped their prices. It is my favorite sushi restaurant and I recommend it to everyone. I made an order today for to go for gyoza, one CARIBBEAN roll and one shrimp tempura. This is the same order I have gotten for 7+ years. With extra honey mayo on the side (used for the caribbean roll.) I got home and they switched my caribbean roll with a Pacific roll (which I didn't even know they had because I never order it!!) I tried calling them at least 10 times with no answer, finally I drive back. The women were just standing around the counter talking not bothering to answer the phone. I told them what happened. I did not bring the box of food back with me because with covid most places are not wanting you to bring the food back, so I took a picture instead. They literally YELLED at me that I was not telling the truth, that I ordered the Pacific roll. That they read the order back to me and I agreed. I said no. I ordered the caribbean (I didn't even have an attitude at first, it could have been an honest mistake). I said why would I ordered extra of the sauce on the side if that's not the roll I ordered? Then the manager came and SHE started yelling at me for not bringing the food and basically saying I was lying. I was like look...I didn't order it. I just want my food corrected, look me up in your system I literally order the EXACT SAME ORDER every time for the last 7 years! She finally agreed to make it but she had the worst attitude, she then was talking about me to the other girls and they were laughing. I told her I was upset about how I was being treated and didn't appreciate being YELLED at when this literally was my FAVORITE sushi restaurant, she ignored me and walked right by me. I am so upset and hurt because I was really such a loyal customer BAD JOB Mr. Sushi....

TL;DR: We’ve been going to Mr. Sushi for years. In the last year it has changed in quality, service, and atmosphere.

Our favorite server is no longer there and we’ve been waited on by a rude gentleman that doesn’t seem to care about service or the table.

We now only do takeout. I’ve had to check our to-go order due to incorrect orders with a decrease in sushi quality and presentation. We’ve gotten into the practice of adding 25 minutes onto our pick time since we still end up usually waiting.

Tonight was our tipping point. When my significant other was on her way to pick up the order, we received a call that they would be closing in less than 15 minutes (we live 20min away), when their usual closing time wasn’t for another 45 minutes. She got there shortly after 8:30 and they wouldn’t let her in… she knocked and the same rude man that’s waited on us in the past said, “too late” “closed” and proceeded to ignore my calls when trying to notify them she was there for our online order. I also have the order status up, refreshed it, and it still was showing our order wasn’t complete after he called.

We’re done and will find...
