this place used to be amazing, but since covid they have just tanked in quality. I dont know if it's because they changed their supplier but the food is about as good as joy one or panda express for double the price. I never expected to have "spicy curry" that tasted like Alfredo sauce from an Italian restaurant, but here we are. the sushi they serve is just tuna scrape, aka the bad cuts of the fish ground up like hamburger. I warned my friends when they insisted on going and they got sick off the tuna and salmon. if you want fish you have to order the sashimi. the sushi chefs are cutting corners big time and this kind of practice shouldn't be allowed in Ohio. the noodles are hard, the chicken looks like frozen chicken nuggets dipped in sugar paste (again, pands express or joy one quality food). the only thing they get right is the rice. so there's the one star. the chefs can prepare the easiest thing that requires no work.
now I'm surprised that they haven't been shut down for a health violation because the soda machine must be covered in mold. the water has a horrible taste and my friends confirmed that their soda tasted really bad. gahanna tap water is very clean and you can see the treatment facility when you leave so there is no excuse for their water being so filthy. I'd advice buying something in a bottle to drink if you do choose to eat inside. better yet, bring your own water.
as for the service, like most restaurants right now, it's impossible to get work so I don't like to beat up on overworked staff, but everytime I've come in, I see the owner or manager always standing at the front playing on his phone never helping his staff. I've been here 3 times since writing this review after moving away 3 years ago. I was hoping the first time was just a fluke, but no, there is nothing Asian or gourmet about this restaurant anymore. I used to come here all the time with friends, I'm not sure if they sold or are under new management, but the atmosphere doesn't justify paying...
Read moreI would like to share my recent experience with this restaurant. Our family has supported this business since moving to the Gahanna in 2015. Recently, we have noticed a decline in the service and most recently the food. My last two experiences have me not wanting to support this business moving forward. The last order we placed was given to another customer. That customer realized he had the wrong order and returned it to the restaurant while I was there to pick it up. The staff and manager attempted to give me the order like nothing happened. When I refused to accept the order they got upset. I was told it was a mistake but the order had not been touched. I again refused. They eventually remade the order. This order was approximately $200.
My latest issue was that we again placed a food and sushi order and 3 of the rolls were missing a piece in each one. I called to report this issue and was told that what I was report could not be true because they always put the correct number in the order and it was not possible. My frustration came as I was describing my problem I was cut off several times and told that what I was reporting could not be true. I was then offered a credit for the three rolls and told I could collect it on my next order.
Please note, there will not be a next order. I truly believe in supporting local business, but when that business does not respect me, then I cannot and will not continue to support it. Asian Gourmet just lost a...
Read moreMore than a little disappointed this time. Went here before and had decent sushi. No special after 5 so ordered hot and sour soup hot green tea and the pepper garlic calamari from the Thai menu. The hot and sour soup was nothing to scream about, looks like your basic base soup either mix or out of a can and no Chinese mushrooms to speak of. Green tea was green tea but they serve it in a little glass so it gets cold pretty quick. The calamari was absolutely awful. They cook it in that same too Sweet Brown sauce they throw everything else into and it was absolutely inedible. It was overcooked obviously Frozen in a big bag of squid breaded which fell off immediately and so tough it was like chewing on rope. I sent it back knowing that usually means the kiss of death and ask for something simple like sesame chicken. It came out swimming in the same horribly sweet brown sauce typical chunks dark meat frozen in a big bag again overcooked so half of it was crunchy and the other half somewhat chewy. A couple pieces of sweet red peppers and scallions that could not save the dish from the god-awful sauce they drench everything in. Open the fortune cookie and the picture says it all. Not so thrilling but definitely a disappointing surprise. The waiter appeared not to care too terribly much so I only gave him about 15% which was...
