If I could give this place 0 stars I would ! This review is solely based on management and not the food since we didn’t get to eat there. My family had read good things about Felix cantina before we stayed at the Tom Quick Inn in Milford . since this hotel and the La Posada hotel are both owned by the Fauchere group we thought this restaurant would have the same type of hospitality but we’re so wrong !!! We didn’t make a reservation for dinner this past Sunday (Labor Day weekend ) because there were so many openings on open table the night before so we decided to walk in for dinner. There were about 30 total tables inside and out and only a few tables taken outside and about 2-3 high tops at the bar - the hostess asked us if we had a reservation and if we didn’t we would not be served for half an hour because they are short staffed and that only people with reservations are being served at this time - we put our name down and asked if we could wait at the bar room and once again were told the bartender is also backed up and will not be able to serve us - mind you there were only about 5 people total in the bar area - so I was able to make a reservation online for 8 and let the hostess know this - she went back and asked the owner and said that they still cannot serve us so basically she just wanted us to leave - part owner was there to say the same thing -when I asked to speak with the main owner the both went in the back and hid - others came up and complained saying their waitress had not gone to their table for half an hour - so we left very confused and upset about why they were so short staffed on a busy holiday weekend at such a large restaurant- it seamed very mis managed, very unprofessional and rude - I would never want this business to succeed because of how rude...
Read moreThis review is for Felix Cantina only, we did not stay in the rooms at LaPosada.
Chef Miguels creations, his never ending generosity to the community, and passion for celebrating the Yucatán culture are in part why, my now defunct, NEPA Taco Review page existed at all. His passion and those of the taquerias that line NEPA fueled my continued love of Mexican cuisine.
Felix Cantina is the brick and mortar Miguel deserved and NEPA needed. The creations from the kitchen are a representation of the chefs love for culture, tradition, and quite simply - his incredible culinary knowledge. (Side note: Milford hospitality group is really doing something amazing for the food culture in NEPA.)
This night we ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. Three tacos: Fish, Birria and Chochinita. And the Sisal Fish. The food was excellent, came out warm, and each dish had a unique flavor profile. The fish taco was juicy and packed with fresh slaw. It was served cali style on a flour tortilla with just enough heat in the sauce. The Birria taco was melt in your mouth while still having the cheese crunch you expect. The cosume was so flavorful and not greasy so it coated the corn tortilla perfectly. The cochinita taco was sweet with a burst of tang thanks to the piled high pickled onions. Lastly, the sisal fried full red snapper. This dish was unreal, so much history in the dish itself, but the fish was flaky, plump, flavorful, and it was impossible to stop eating! Served with onion, tortillas, Rice, beans, and lime it’s literally a dish you won’t find anywhere else. Just having this dish come to the table is an adventure!
Can’t recommend the food here more! Great location, clean, free and ample parking.
One thing I would suggest is having the staff be...
Read moreAfter seeing a quick review where someone mentioned " the best tacos...", we had to try this restaurant. This is a Mexican restaurant with traditional dishes - from the southern part of the country. This is not what comes to mind when thinking " let's go eat tacos" The building has parking right in front. The outside has lovely flowers and the building is very inviting! Friendly staff greeted us. We chose to sit out on the porch, as the day was grand. Had we come any later i know we would have needed reservations. For sure we will next time. Linda- our waitress- was awesome. She knew how to explain the cuisine and helped us choose. She was warm.and you knew she also loved the whole vibe. We met Victor- a family member, making sure we were pleased. The menu has unique choices. We started w the delicious and fresh pico, guacamole and their house made salsa ( made with ground pumpkin seeds which added an amazing texture and flavor). I had a perfectly blended, white, peach sangria. Perfect! And thennnn....those tacos. Wow! Really...wow! We ordered two kinds and shared. The Briscuit? Outstanding. This meat was so perfectly cooked, slowww and with the addition of chorizo. Yes!! The pork? Delicious. Marinated with a rich flavor and grilled. The tortillas were incredible. My only suggestion to this ( as we learned...) brand new restaurant is to perhaps allow for a sampling of more than one taco as an entree choice. We really would have loved to try all! But, I guess that will...
