The best thing about Scoopy Doo's, aside from the great name, is the location. It's a lovely spot right on the water with free parking. It's in a very walkable area, and has tables right along the marina. Dogs are welcome and pup cups are available. If I were solely reviewing the location, 5 stars. However, the ice cream really wasn't that good. It was all very bland and forgettable. We did get 3 cups of 2 scoop ice cream for $20.25, so I can't complain about the price. There are vegan options available as well, which was appreciated. The employees, solely teenage boys from what I could tell, weren't all that friendly and were audibly making of fun of customers right behind the screen. If it weren't for the excellent location, I'd give this ice cream spot 1 star just for it's staff. Lots of people out trying to enjoy a beautiful summer day, and there's complete brats behind the window. On top of that, service was slow and the staff uncommunicative (beyond their flippancy with each other of course). The majority of other reviewers appear to have enjoyed their visit to Scoopy Doo's. I really wanted to as well, but unfortunately I was left...
Read moreNice variety of "hard" ice cream flavors. All the flavors we ordered were good. Some of the ice cream cones came with marshmallows in the bottom of the cone. We ordered ice cream on a cooler raining evening and the ice cream was melting so fast. Mine was dripping down my arm before I even got to have a few licks in. The super melty ice cream make it less enjoyable. They have tons of wet wipes out the ice cream window so this must be a common issue. There are no soft serve and it is cash only.
It's nice that it has ample parking especially in the city center. There is also nice views of water and there were public bathrooms close by for those emergency kid bathroom runs.
The staff was friendly and did a good job with a...
Read moreOverall, not the most impressive ice cream place I've been to. The ice cream I had (Monkey Maker) was really good! However, when they say two scoops, it's only two scoops (unlike the usual 2.5-3 scoops most two scoops actually are). But the price is lower, so I guess you get what you pay for. Interestingly, if you order your ice cream in a wafer cone, they will place a marshmallow in the bottom of it. I don't think this goes particularly well with all ice cream flavors and it prevented any ice cream from going down to the bottom of the cone, so all I was left with as a dry...
