Valentines dinner disappointment. I can give some wiggle room considering it’s a busy holiday but the overall poor service and food was inexcusable. We arrived with a reservation and the hostess didn’t seem to have a table ready for us. After a few minutes of waiting we were escorted to their lovely side dining room to find that another couple were already seated at the table meant for us and the hostess had no idea what to do. So she ends up offering us a 4 seat table in the middle of the crowded bar which was not as romantic as the dining room but we wanted to eat so it is what it is. We didn’t receive our bread and butter until halfway through our dinner entrees. We never were asked if we wanted refills on drinks or if we needed anything. I ordered the stuffed shrimp special and substituted the mashed potatoes with parmesan truffle fries. When the meal came it was just regular fries. I asked if they could be replaced and those didn’t come for 15+ minutes. There were three piles of stuffing on the plate but only two of them had shrimp underneath. Let me repeat, they served me two shrimp with stuffing and a third pile of just stuffing. When I brought this up with the waitress, she asked me to pile the stuffing onto my appetizer plate to take back to the kitchen to “show them” the mistake. At this point, why wasn’t my entire dinner plate taken back to the kitchen? maybe they could have also brought out my fries at the same time. Was the meal supposed to have 2 or 3 stuffed shrimps? I was not given any communication that the shrimp would be replaced. The stuffing was like a paste and made entirely out of ritz crackers. I didn’t taste or see any veggies or seafood in the stuffing. When our meal was finished we asked for the check instead of sticking around and ordering dessert and that is when a waiter came out with a single stuffed shrimp on a plate asking if I wanted it. Our meal was finished and they brought out the food too late. The waiter then placed his hand on my shoulder which was completely unnecessary and informed me that one of my cocktails would be comped. Not my $30+ meal.. just one single cocktail. Then after we receiving the check we found that we were charged for two sodas when we only ordered one. Spend you special...
Read moreI had planned on leaving a five star review, but for reasons that will follow, I needed to take off one star. Though I feel like I should take off more, for a poor decision by the owner/manager. First, the good stuff.... the food was outstanding! Delish! We had all apps. The candied bacon chop, crispy avocado with cilantro sauce, and grilled polenta with pesto, roasted tomato and eggplant tapenade. The hostess and our server were fantastic. We also had the spicy margaritas, which are always made so well.
I live five minutes from Founders House, and have dined here for dinner, brunch and ordered take-out as well. Tonight was the first time I was here for happy hour, or what's called their Social Hours. I signed up for the VIP notifications and received a text that said, " join us for social hour every Monday through Friday at Founders House Pub and Patio! 30% off all drinks and appetizers in the pub room and patio from 3 - 6." I still have the text that says PATIO. I forgot I still had it on my phone at the time.
Well, my friend and I received our bill, and 30% was not taken off. I kindly questioned the waitress about it, and she said it says porch on the website for social hour. This was also followed by telling us the manager will probably not give us the discount, because we are the third group today to question this, and he said no to them as well. Don't you think there is a problem if we are the third reservation to be taken by surprise? If you have been to Founders House Pub and Patio before, you know there is a section of the patio that leads up a few stairs to a covered section of the patio. After talking to the manager, the waitress told us, THAT is the section for 30% off, and when making a reservation, to specify we want the Social Hour section. I found this to be a very bad call on the managers part.
Also, the website has an option to make a reservation online, which is through Open Table. So you don't actually talk to anyone about the Social Hour. Sounds like this mix up happens often. This would be dissapointing at any time, but at a time when diners are excited to be outside enjoying a good meal in a Covid-safe space, it was a terrible way to end such a...
Read moreEdit Review: I will start here for hopefully the owner to see what just happened upon my roommate calling in as to inquire about said reviewed items below.
An individual named Brian heard our concerns regarding the menu items received and did not offer any courtesy or compensation for the overall displeasure.
Review#1: The "Baked Macaroni and Cheese", @ $19.00 I must confess to be a Large disappointment. "Baked" was hardly evident in reference to that title. With a Very light evidence of crumbles on top.(which I must assume is what they actually bake. Not the entire dish. But who am I. I wasnt there to know.) This dish was So cheesey, it was unpleasant. Maybe if it were something I wouldn't make from a box interchanging the pasta as they did, I'd be more impressed. That's a LOT to charge. The only way to justify this charge was by the quantity and convenience of it being made for me. Ultimately, $19 for a glorified Velveeta mac n cheese, is outrageous. I'll give a hard pass if there were a future visit.
Reviee#2: As for the Banana Foster Butter Cake,@ $12.00 if you like Rum and banana liquor, you'll be in for a treat. The cake could've been made of dung but I wouldn't know it because the liquors were so over bearing.
See pics for both.
Review #3: My Roommate had the "Open Faced Prime Rib sandwich" @ $17.00 This, she reports to be heavily salted in flavor. And not as tender as expected.
Review#4: "French Onion Soup" @ $10 She reports to be over seasoned and rather small for a $10 price point.
Ultimately, the overall experience was an over priced dis flavored...
