My friend Susan and I were headed to Seattle to celebrate her 79th Birthday. We had a brief stop to make in Everett and asked our friend Demarys where there was a good place for breakfast. She whole heartedly recommended The Mukilteo Speedway Cafe!! We headed over and found them to be very busy with a 35-minute wait! The hostess (Sorry, I did not get her name) was amazing and offered the small lobby, outside or our car to wait! She took our phone number and said that she would text us when our table was ready. We took a menu and went back to the car. What a wonderful suggestion!! We were comfortable, checked out the menu and played games on our phone until we got the text! We went in and were immediately seated. Loved the decorations and ambiance of this cafe! There was plenty of staff and guests and staff looked like they were having fun and enjoying their food. Portions looked large and well presented as we walked through the dining room.
Janelle was our server, and she was wonderful. Friendly and knowledgeable. She made suggestions, took our order and kept that coffee coming. I lost count after the 3rd cup! Great Coffee! I had to order the Avocado Toast as I had never had it and it was on my bucket list!! It was Amazing!! Both breakfasts were delicious, and we did manage to eat it all!! Upon leaving, both Janelle and the hostess thanked us and told us to come back. Well, ya know - we did just that!!!
On the return trip from Seattle on this historic birthday weekend - we headed for the Mukilteo Speedway Cafe once again for breakfast. The same hostess greeted us and remembered us! We asked for Janelle's station and there was a table available! Once again, breakfast was amazing!! I had the Fruity French Toast - OMG!! So Good!! I had noticed that they also served (Great Menu by the way) a cobb salad and told Janelle that I would be back for it next time. She happened to be serving one, so she mentioned it as she walked by. Oh Ya, I'll be back!! On the way out, I actually stopped and spoke to the man who had ordered it and asked how it was. He said it was just delicious and that he always comes there for the cobb salad.
This is quite the hidden gem but so worth the effort and the trip!! Friendly staff and really good food!! Thank You to Everyone at the Mukilteo Speedway Cafe!! You made our...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for breakfast this morning. When you walk in there is a small cafe/diner style bar. Turn left and you walk into a cozy dining area. Turn right and there is a neat little fireplace with more of the dining area. With lots of booths and cool decor, this is a very cozy place.
I got the California Omelette which was $18.95. Coffee and coke were $3.95 each.
The omelette was delicious and worthy of 5 stars. The service was great, Melissa was kind and professional. Bathrooms were clean.
My wife who ordered crepes came with a hair sticking out from underneath it. But don’t be critical of this establishment!!! I have had that happen to me before at Panda Express and one other place in the past 20 years. It occasionally happens at food establishments. Accidents happen and because my wife and I have both worked in the food industry, we were both understanding.
We informed our server Melissa, she immediately apologized and took the meal back for a new one. My wife found it before she had her first bite, so it was obvious we weren’t one of those rare people who put hair in the food for a free meal after eating most of it. (those people do exist!)
Because they quickly replaced her strawberry rhubarb crepes with a new one, we didn’t expect anything more. But Melissa decided to take it off our bill.
And that is why they get 5 stars. Accidents happen, be kind and forgiving about it, and watch that positive energy be reciprocated. Excellent food, excellent service, nice decor, no wonder why the family who owns it has other locations under a different name.
We will be back for sure! Thank You Melissa!
NOTE: We did not put a picture of the Crepes with the hair. This place does not deserve to have a photo on their google/yelp page of that. Accidents...
Read moreI lived the majority of my life in WA. The culinary strog spots of the state during my 40+ years there were Teriyaki, Pho, and most Asian food. Seafood is very strong as well but for other things, there are one-offs but prior to my departure, no other categories that were universally strong in the area. There were a lot of categories that were weak 9/10 times and diners are on that list for me.
This place was a delightful surprise. My BiL brought us here on our way to the airport to return to our new home in Las Vegas, which is one of the strongest food cities in the world. I hadn't been back to WA in over 4 years and I had made a point of hitting most of my favorite spots that have no equal in the NV desert. I'd had enough rain, traffic & political nonsense & was eager to get back to our new reality so I wasn't super enthusiastic when my wife & her brother decided to stop for some dessert. I'm glad I did though because this place is fantastic. I'm not sure how long they've been there but I wish I'd been aware of them when I was still living there. The service was friendly and excellent. The ambiance was cool and the food was delicious. I only had dessert but looking around at what others was eating, it all looked pretty good. I've had friends and TV commentators I watch swear that there has been a food renaissance in the area since I left. From what I've seen on shows like Triple D, it looks like it's mostly pub food, which I don't care for but I do love a good diner and this place...
