Wan't to share a story of two totally different experiences. The first is about great service we received, the other is about a horrible experience with the manager.
Last night we called to see if they were open, we were told they were open for take-out at 8:30 pm, we called back to place the order only to receive a busy signal. As we live 3 minutes away we decided to drive there as we tried to call again. They answered, only this time we were told they were closed. 2 minutes had passed in between all the calls. I tried them back only to find out why we were told they are closed when they just said they were open. Well the very nice man apologized for the confusion and promptly took our order. The food was fast and very good considering they were almost closed. Very great service to help us so close to closing.Way to go guys.
However, I called the next day to let the store manager know just how pleased we were and what a great job they had done. They had earned our future business for sure. I asked to speak to the manager and was placed on a brief hold. A gentleman got on the phone and asked "who is this" . Not the way you want to start a phone call with a manager , I let him know I was a customer who wanted to talk about the good service we received. He just said thanks , I thought that was strange, I would assume the store manager would love to hear about the staff going above and beyond. So I again asked if he was "the" store manager and he said yes. So I told him what had happened and he couldn't care less, again he only said "thank you".
To the servers and cooks who helped us we say thank you. To the manager who couldn't be bothered or care about positive feedback we say you are lucky to have such great employee's. Because if that's how you handle a complement, I worry how you handle a complaint. That's unfair to your crew to not here the great...
Read more12/28/2024 Decided to try this again. Got here at 7:30 on a Saturday night and it's pretty busy.
As before the service was great and the atmosphere is perfect. I ordered the same (price went up to $14.99) my wife got the Enchilada Suizas $15.99.
It's a little pricey, but everything is getting that way. Still great food,so we'll come back, hopefully sooner.
12/2023 My wife and I decided to try a new place, Maria's Mexican Grill. We got there at 8:30 on a Saturday night and we got right in. They weren't packed, but there were a lot of people there even that late.
The atmosphere was a more authentic than the traditional Mexican restaurant. They had little geckos on the wall and this huge circular thing on the wall. It reminded me of being back in Mexico. Definitely really cool decor.
Once we got seated, someone brought us out a bunch of chips and salsa. One of the better salsas we've had, really chunky and the chips were dusted with chilli powder. That was a nice touch.
I ordered the small platter with a smothered chile verde burrito, cheese enchilada and ground beef taco ($13.99). My wife wanted rice and beans, so she got the large platter ($15.99). Same as small, but with an additional tostada and rice and beans. Lol she definitely couldn't eat it all.
They had our food out really fast. Their tortilla shells are obviously hand made, little thicker than average tortilla shells. We really liked the chili verde. I wished the taco meat was seasoned a little more, but we're still pretty good. Overall, we like the food.
The service, what can I say except it was exceptionally. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were taking care of. I'm not sure I have seen a restaurant with that many employees. They were definitely on it, taking care of everyone.
Definitely a place we'll be going back to. Good food, great atmosphere and...
Read moreI'm very sad to change how I feel about this restaurant. I have been eating here regularly for 5+ years. The quality of the food when I started going here was top notch. It has deteriorated steadily for the last 2. Most notably since the big covid nonsense. Last week when we dined I was really disappointed. I can judge most mexican restaurants based on their chili Verde burrito. The one here used to decent though not what I would call truly authentic. Last week I ordered a combo plate with a smothered chili Verde burrito. What I got was a folded tortilla with a tiny bit of refried beans smeared thinly in the middle an "smothered" with a commercial grade sauce with small 3 pieces of pork. This is actually a utah wide trend in mexican restaurants in Utah to sell " burritos" with almost nothing in them if they are smothered. It's a giant rip off. Burritos should be plump with a proper filling whether especially when they usually charge more to be " smothered". I will have think twice before eating ar Maria's in the future. I alo don't want to here any whinning about how inflation is the culprit when prices have raised dramatically during this time. Why is it in Utah ee can't have decent mecican restaurants. I've tried them all and even the most highly rated are only mediocre ( are you listening Red Iguana?) I guess what I'm saying is another one tha used to be decent has...
