This sushi and Japanese restaurant served up a mixed experience—solid in some areas, lacking in others. The sushi was reasonably fresh and enjoyable, though it didn’t wow. Standard rolls with clean flavors and no major flaws, but also nothing particularly inventive or memorable.

The best part of the visit was the service. Staff were attentive and polite, providing smooth, prompt interaction from start to finish. It’s clear they care about doing their part well. Unfortunately, the atmosphere didn’t match the effort. The dining room was nearly empty during peak hours, casting an odd, lifeless tone across the meal. Minimal background music and a lack of energy made the place feel more like a waiting room than a dining destination.

Cleanliness was on point, and the presentation of dishes was neat. But overall, it’s the kind of spot you’d stop into for a quick bite if you’re nearby—not somewhere you’d go out of your way to visit. With a livelier ambiance and more creative menu choices, this place could become a standout. As it stands, it’s fine—but forgettable.

I would still return to support the local restaurant and community. Not much has changed in the restaurant in the past 10-plus years...

We used to come in a lot to eat and also order takeout often. Unfortunately, prices keep going up while portion sizes are getting smaller. Ordered the 4pcs of spring rolls. Did not get 4 pcs but 2 small spring rolls cut in half diagonally. Seems kind of deceiving. When you order sushi for takeout they squeeze three orders into one container, which also means every individual order is smaller so they can fit it into one. When dining in we also received three separate rolls squeezed tightly together on one serving platter. No small individual plates were handed out. Are we supposed to eat holding one hand under our mouths so the expensive food doesn’t fall directly on the table? Either hand out small individual plates if you use a combined serving plate or separate the food according to how the order was placed. I expect a little more comfort and service when I spend $60 on eating out. You can tell their frying oil is set at a temperature that is too high. Flavor has gone downhill too unfortunately. We already noticed this trend with our last couple of takeout orders, gave them one last shot when dining in today and don’t think we will be back...

Honestly not sure why people like this place. Maybe its one of the nest in Millington or something but it wouldn't last long in other places. The atmosphere and layout of the building was uninviting, I almost decided to turn around and walk out as soon as I went in. They had music on at such a low volume I'm not even sure why they had it on.

Service was alright but the waiter we had no enthusiam to be there. Food was mediocre at best. The meal came with a free soup and salad of which neither were worth eating. I had Hibachi shrimp. The plating looked like it had been done by someone who had no prior experience in a kitchen. The shrimp was close to being over cooked and while the vegtables on the plate were cooked right, everything tasted the same which is just ok in this case cause like I said, I wasn't wowed by any of the flavors.

So bottom line I wasn't impressed and...

We have ordered takeout from Kobe twice. Once before COVID and now today. I have to say, they are consistently just okay. I love Japanese food, and I really wanted Kobe to be the place to go to when I am craving sushi. Unfortunately, I really don't understand why they have 5 star reviews. We paid $50 for mediocre food both times. The steak hibachi is chewy and swimming in liquid. The chicken hibachi and sushi are dry. If anything was decent, the vegetables in the yaki soba and salads were fresh. In comparison to so many other Asian restaurants that I've been to, the quality here is below par. If you don't care to spend some money on something quick to fill your belly, well, it does the job.

This was my first time here. This will become mine and my husband's date night place. Food was so scrumptious and delighted our taste buds. We ordered the steak hibachi and salmon hibachi. Also ordered dabomb and spicy salmon sushi rolls. Autumn was our waitress. She was so sweet and attentive. I'm glad she suggested the appetizer, crab stick.
