On a recent trip to Milpitas, I had the pleasure of visiting Milan Gujarati Sweets, a gem for anyone craving authentic Gujarati delicacies. From the moment I walked in, place has an inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a delightful culinary experience. The restaurant boasts a simple. The seating area is clean and comfortable, perfect for a casual meal or a quick snack. The service at Milan Gujarati Sweets was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient. Despite being quite busy, they ensured that every customer was promptly attended to. I indulged in a variety of their offerings, and each dish was a testament to authentic Gujarati flavors. The Dhokla was soft and spongy, with the right balance of tangy and sweet flavors with a smooth texture and a subtle kick of mustard seeds and curry leaves. Overall, my visit to Milan Gujarati Sweets was nothing short of wonderful. The combination of great food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone in the Milpitas area. Whether you're a fan of Gujarati cuisine or just looking to try something new, this restaurant will not disappoint. Read moreI have not been here in quite some time so brought my mom for an early dinner/ late afternoon snack.
We ordered Dahi puri, Mirch pakora, malai makhan paneer w/ naan.
Dahi puri was decent, could have used tad more of sweet chutney.
Mirch pakora decent as well. I like that was cut in half and also had some ajwain and seasoning, I would personally like a little more. This is the way my mom makes it, although I realize there are many regional variations. The jalapeños were quite thick however, so while breading /batter was crispy the chili felt a bit raw to the bite.
Paneer malai - this was downright disappointing. Gravy tasted sweet and sour, almost like it had some vinegar in it. It reminded me of Campbell condensed soup from the can. The bell peppers and onions were a bit crunchy to the bite and my mom felt it could have been chopped smaller to cook through more or cooked a bit longer. Looking around at other tables other dishes seemed to have similar orange gravy /sauce.
I think we spent close to $35 on our meal, which is not breaking the bank but since food was not enjoyable felt like a disappointment and a little pricy for hole in the wall ambiance. If I return will not order entrees and stick to...
Read moreThe samosa sizzler defies every culinary law, and my own personal perspectives on food. There is no absolute way that the combination of samosa and pasta should work. But GODDAMIT!!! It tastes so amazing, and delicious and good. I was so reluctant to even try it. I swore that it would taste disgusting… but NOOOOO IT TASTES ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It’s delightfully pleasant and scrumptious. The jalebi was so good and delicious. The dhokla was very fresh, and didn’t taste too sweet.
This entire post is dedicated to the impossibly amazing tasting samosa sizzler. It was so good, I wanted to meet the one who put it on the menu, but they weren’t available, and I met the sous chef (in other terms). They were very sweet and were extremely pleased to hear my appreciation for their famous dish. It has been on their menu for over 20 years, and it works!
If you are around in this area, this is definitely a restaurant you...
