When I got laid off in January 2023 this library became a huge source of stability and joy for me. I come here every 2-4 weeks. I can come on my own thanks to the new Milpitas BART station that opened the South Bay to me a bit more and made it more accessible. I remember the awful 181 Express bus from Fremont BART.
Milpitas does not have great design as a city in terms of layout but it has a world class library and it is very clean and packed with fun things and resources. I rented a lot of video games, Blu Rays and audio books from this library and would listen to audiobooks on the train rides down to it from Berkeley. I also combine trips to visit friends in the South Bay(SJSU, and Palo Alto) and pick up items here. Staff is usually pretty nice and friendly. I’ve probably saved thousands of dollars on video games and the library keeps me flushed in new video games, movies and series to check out. Not having late fees also has helped me to use this library as it's inconsistent and unpredictable to visit at times since I don't have a car and sometimes holds come due at random times and the library is happy to even extend my holds to make it more flexible to access the library I LOVE IT. They recently started offering "Things' to rent(Similar to Berkeley South Branch Tool Lending Library) and though I haven't tried them, they all look really cool! I love the inventiveness of the library staying relevant. Milpitas Library is a source of joy and entertainment especially in 2023 and well into 2024 that was a difficult and frustrating year in many aspects otherwise.
The library has enough parking. The library is also near the 66 bus line back to/from BART. The city of Milpitas also has a shuttle bus like Uber that for $2.50 a trip can take you to the library so there really is no excuse to come to the library in Milpitas.
Thanks Milpitas community, library and staff for being open and making my life...
Read moreI frequent the Milpitas Library regularly, visiting around 2-3 times a month with my kids, and it has become our go-to place for literary exploration. The library offers a delightful experience, especially for the younger ones, with an engaging kids' section filled with a diverse array of books that cater to different age groups and interests. The colorful ambiance and welcoming atmosphere make it an enjoyable space for children to discover the joys of reading.
One of the library's standout features is the availability of various resources. The meeting rooms and computers, which can be checked out, provide valuable spaces for group activities, study sessions, or individual work. This versatility adds an extra layer of convenience for patrons with diverse needs.
The cleanliness of the library is commendable. The staff's efforts in maintaining a tidy environment contribute to a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for readers of all ages. The organized shelves and neatly arranged spaces make it easy to navigate and find what you're looking for.
However, a minor drawback is the inconsistency of the return kiosks located in front of the library. While they are generally convenient, there are times when they don't work as expected. This inconsistency can be a bit frustrating, especially for those in a hurry to return items. Additionally, the library tends to get crowded, particularly during peak hours, which might not be ideal for those seeking a quieter reading environment.
Despite these minor issues, the Milpitas Library remains a reliable and valuable resource for the community. The positives, such as the diverse book collection, available resources, and a clean and welcoming environment, far outweigh the occasional inconveniences. Overall, it's a haven for readers and learners, offering a well-rounded experience for individuals and...
Read moreI visited Milpitas library again after more than 4 years of absence today. Everything seemed so fine and comfortable at the moment.
I never realized that I was gonna encounter the worst and most unpleasant experience of my library visit about 10 years here in Bay area.As I was about to leave. Suddenly, an apple with tumor showed up, she came to the table I was sitting for an hour and half, interrogate me in an unsettling tone. The whole area on the west side by the window is empty from beginning to the end, except me and two empty tables with eight chairs for the last hour and a half. It was something from her mouth that according to the policy, the area for children only, adults are not allowed. Ridiculously, I do saw some adults around other parts of area I need to leave right away. I already said I am gonna be leaving soon. She stood there still with her aggressive and self conceited look. And then she yelled at me and forced me to leave. It was like I was gonna be beaten if she got a gun cause her voices raised ferociously. It was around 2:20pm.
The previous staff in charge never checked it on me with this policy when I made entry into the area, and during the whole time I spent at the table. I don't think the library would train their staff to treat patrons like that.OMG, that's horrible. Working at the children's area doesn't mean you can behave like a wayward, ignorant , uncivilized child. It is the specific individual, a rotten apple on one's period spoils the bunch !!!!! Oh I forgot, she got a name , NORMA...
There was rich smell of junk from landfill yard not afar when I walked towards my car in the...
