Milpitas Black Diner restaurant on July 27,2019 at 8pm we ordered 3 meals. My daughter order chicken parmesan and it was burn. They put the burn side on the bottom. The chef had to hide it. I flip the chicken over and then I see why my daughter did not eat it. She did not finish the pasta. My daughter love pasta and always finishes it. Always had exceptional experience at black dinner. Mainly at Gilroy, Fremont and LA. The server that was serving me did not even check how our meal was or if we needed something else. Had to ask other waitress, a very sharp person that pays attention very well to get what I wanted. The counter ask how was my dinner. I told her my daughter chicken was burn. Black on the bottom. She said if there is a mistake you should tell us early. She is not even the server. You are a cashier. I told her your cook serve burn chicken and it would be ok. She kept on insisting that I should tell her earlier. Why cover it up and put the burn side on the bottom? Look like the cook and the server serving us need more training. I got some cold attitude from the restaurant. I never experience it before from other black dinner I eat at Gilroy, Fremont or on my way to LA many numerous times. Never had a bad meal or experience cold treatment. Today the restaurant were not even busy. The kids ate their soup and my onion rings and chicken strip were perfect. My daughters friend only ate a bite of the wild alaskan salmon. She did not want to say anything about her meal either. Every time I ate at Black diner the server always ask how is my meal. And do you need anything else? No one check in us except put the bill on the table. My water was empty and only ice cube left in the glass. When I left the Cashier says, I am sorry sir. Is she trying to make me feel better or make me want to come back? I will drive 20-30 miles to get the food and service that I expect to get. No I did not forget to give their 15% percent...
Read moreA few weeks ago i had the best service. Food was typical diner food but black bear is always comfortable to sit in for a bit .. and my waitress was so awesome. Today I had mediocre service and really great food and very fast ..I was getting my car repaired and walked over. sometimes when you eat alone it's hit or miss.. Alot of waitstaff hates single seating diners as it's a waste of tipping time and you can tell when you are being served if you are being typecast as such. I usually end up tipping as I took two seats to make up for it. and all my years at this Black bear I always gets the best service and no one cares I am alone. First sign of typecasting was the fact that he was in a hurry to get my order without even letting me browse a bit. I told him i am not a breakfast person so i was not sure what to get. positive to that was my order went in pretty quick. but he put my water in the cup already for my tea so i did not get to use the water in the little pot as lipton tea bags cant be reused without killing the already lipton flavor..But that was minor. once i got my food i just sat reading the news on my phone cause I was alone. i did ask him for a box and instead f asking if i needed anything else i got the box and my check. unfortunately it was not my check. i sat for ten minutes and finally gave up and went and got a new check at the register. I still tipped 18 percent but it felt dirty.. as i usually tip 25 to 30 when i eat alone. not a Karen by any means.. i was waitstaff i do get it.. but stop generalizing people eating alone. we are not a waste of time. tipping culture is brutal.. you get a tip whether your service sucks or not.. but we get shoddy service and there is no recourse as the new world already spells out what your server expects when you pay with a card. i get it you are busy.. but serving is an acting job and we are all expecting a good performance. basically customers pay...
Read moreRestaurant was not even one-quarter capacity, our server only had one other table in his section to wait on and the service was terrible. Server was unfocused and forgot half the order. Even the food that did make it out was presented in properly and incomplete. The two boys cooking spoke only Spanish and loud enough for everyone to hear. They must have thought we did not understand Spanish, which we do, and were able to hear the derogatory comments about us from the kitchen after we complained to the shift manager. They argued with our server over our order in front of everyone which delayed it even longer, and even back talked the female manager. Obvious lack of respect for the management, fellow employees, the customers, and the brand. Not to mention little things like the salt and pepper shakers having the tops switched on them so the salt comes pouring out like water. Was really a bad experience even for a diner. Ironically there was a sign on our table saying that they were hiring for all and after our experience there I can see why. We have noticed this decline in service in other Black Bear Diners as well. The shift manager was empathetic and it offers free dessert which we declined. It's obvious that the ownership of this particular location has failed to give her the training necessary to deal with these situations or to hire quality people for her to manage. Just complete top-down mismanagement of the brand. Won't return to this location. Hope they get it right for the sake of the shift manager, she really seemed out of place there. Good Luck. On a side note we tipped over 30%. Left all that negativity behind for Black Bear...
