This is the only restaurant that I've ever had poke at so I don't have anything to compare it to, but simply by itself it's absolutely amazing. If you aren't sure what poke is, to me it's like sushi in a bowl. A deconstructed sushi roll if you will. It's a little pricey, but compared to sushi and seafood prices it's right on par.
We stopped in on a random Saturday and they weren't very busy. I ordered the Mango Tango, but they were out of mango. That didn't really make sense to me as I feel like you should probably have all the ingredients (especially the main one) for your recipes, but I understand things happen. The cashier informed me they were out and then offered to substitute pineapple and any other ingredient I wanted due to the inconvenience which I appreciated. My husband built his own and had a great time doing so.
The wait to get the actual bowls wasn't very long and they are presented very nicely. My only complaint is that I wish the bowls were slightly larger for the amount of ingredients that are in them. It made it very hard to mix up the bowls in order to get a bite of everything in one go. Or maybe serve a plate underneath them so we could potentially dump it out and mix it up. Or maybe I'm just eating it all wrong and I shouldn't be mixing it up. Regardless, the flavors blended beautifully and it was delicious. You felt full after but not that 'gross I can't move full'. It was more of a happy, pleasantly comfortable...
Read moreThis is not the traditional take on poke, which is fine. But here's what to expect when you go: Decent quality ingredients Underdressed poke Consistently inconsistent. Really though. If you order a bunch of add ons(and some that cost extra, like avocado and crab salad), don't be surprised when you get home and open up your bowl to see neither are there, or you got something you didn't order. Or just a metric ton of edamame. Why though. If you're eating in or taking out, the wait times to get your food are significant for a place that's like this that's literally only doing assembly.
Nearly every time I'm there, my order is screwed up, and especially so if I'm ordering with another person. I've also noticed that the guys in back making the bowls are almost always goofing off. Honestly, they should be spending more energy focusing on getting the orders right.
I see the owner hustling around sometimes when I come in. I'm all for trying to help out a small business, but maybe opening too many locations too soon is the demise? I think last night's order was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was missing two ingredients that I paid extra...
Read moreCorrection: The manager of FreshFin contacted me and resolved the issue that I had with the delivery. While I did have a negative experience with the one employee that I dealt with, the manager has more than made up for my small negative experience. The food here is excellent, and the fact that they have a vegan option is great. I would recommend this place and will certainly continue eating here.
Original Message: The food here is excellent; however, I ordered delivery, and it didn't arrive. No problem. I called and was told to wait 15 minutes more. Again, no problem. I called again when it still didn't arrive. That's when I was told that they were busy, and she'd look into it after a while and call me back. For real? I continued to wait, approaching nearly 2 hours from the order time. Finally, I get a call telling me that the driver with the company they appear to contract with delivered to somewhere (not where I was, because I was at the door the entire time) and that they'd refund my money. Well, I don't want the money back; I want what I ordered. Terrible customer...
