So first time there since I worked there when it was Cempazuchi... Yeah been a while..I can say they are more drinks orientated than restaurant... Their menu is small but decent, and the price isn't that bad at all. I had the chorizo cheese thing which came with chips instead of the traditional tortilla you would get with a fundido.. Bubbling.. Honestly the food came out so fast that if I wasn't the only customer I would suspect chef Mic in action.. The service was... Functional... But on a Sunday on the heels of the Harley bullshit, I don't blame them if they were a bit burnt out. The only thing keeping me from the five stars was even though they have chorizo, they didn't have any chorizo burritos or tacos (at least according to the menu and I don't make special requests).. I'm a straight up chorizo addict and that was kind of a kick to the balls that they would offer it for an app, but not in the main food menu. All in all..i might be back, but for that chorizo fix I'm still going to have to drive to Cesar Chavez for the win... I can't talk about the drinks unfortunately, as I don't drink, but they have a much bigger drinks menu than food... So I guess there's that if that's your thing. Is it a worthy successor to cempazuchi? Honestly I'm not sure yet, but when I go back someday I'll be sure to leave an update... Until then just go and try...
Read moreWe ate there last night and were very excited to try it out. However, nothing was outstanding. Looking at the menu everything sounded fantastic but we were disappointed with just about everything we ate. We stated off with the esquite and shrimp ceviche. The corn in the esquite looked like it had been poured out of a can, warmed in butter and served with sauce on top. It was greasy and tasteless. The ceviche was ok but had so many cucumbers that was the only flavor that came out. The papa con rajas were bland. The potatoes could have been fried until they had a nice crunch to them and that would have made them better. The taco de nopales were quite tasteless. The deep fried avocado was greasy and had no other flavors other than the breading which was too thick. Unfortunately, we ordered two of those. The pork barbecue had a nice flavor but was so greasy that the corn taco was completely saturated. The chicken mole taco was the best out of all the tacos we had. It had a flavorful, authentic tasting mole sauce and the chicken was tender. The jalapeño margarita was also very good. Spicy and sour. With all the great sounding tacos on the menu, the food should be outstanding. But nothing had that wow factor that will have is...
Read moreThis review is not for customers but in hopes for management or who runs this place to see with their eyes . Me and my lady were out having dinner when we heard a young lady scream across the room at two black guys that were leaving from a meal . She appeared to be yelling as if they were attempting to split without paying for the bill. One of the guys turned to her and without saying a word just pointed at the table they had just left from . The money was cash on the table . The young lady grabbed the money and stormed away . That’s when the second guy politely said “excuse me” and requested an apology . An off duty employee who was drinking at the bar intervened and started yelling at them in a condescending manner with words like “bye” and “have a goodnight” as well as the words “it’s a common mistake” . With one of the guys replying “we just want a common apology” . This woman could have easily turned an ugly situation uglier by escalating this matter they way she was dismissing them. The initial waitress couldn’t even come out with any decency. Luckily , The guys just turned and left peacefully without their apology after being embarrassed by your staff over a “common mistake” made by...
