Sadly, I only use this store as a last resort. And I am sad to report that they are consistently poor. I tried to report this store via the online form provided by Cousins Subs for my latest visit; however, it didnt allow for a complete explanation and the form timed out. Go in with your cameras running you want find a more consistent source of bad examples than this Cousins Subs.
I will not air the same problems here that others have listed - poor service, bad attitudes, dirty facility, inaccurate orders - all of which can be experienced in this store every day. I did on this visit. Why? The on campus location and hungry students say it all. The staff are permitted to behave this way by management and have been enabled for years.
This visit: I used mobile order at 12:55 pm which reported to pickup in 25 minutes, prepaid, included tip of $3 on a two, full sandwich order that cost $34. I was on time but it took staff about 10 more minutes to give me the order before I left at 1:35 pm. I went to the "express" line, and was acknowledged 3 times and each time the first staffer turned away and took other orders and even turning her back on me when she could have gotten my order as the customer paid o the kiosk. A second staffer gave me the wrong order and I returned it by sliding the bag within her reach - she accused me of throwing it. When she realized I was recording, she wanted a furrther confrontation, yelling at me as I left the building.
No one had masks on despite all other food establishments on the same block following CDC and Milwauked guidelines for public-facing workers to wear face covers, and no one was wearing hand gloves handling food.
I recorded much of the activity after the first act of dis-service and as the second staffer mumbled with her back to me, but if Cousins really wants to address they should preserve the store videos from 12:45 pm to 1:45pm on Friday, December 10, 2021 as evidence.
I will never prepay at this store if I ever return unless changes are made. Students are clearly willing to settle for such low-bar attitude, but as a senior professional, I expect more for the money and gratuity paid. I an understand a single "one minute" put-off, but three times is inexplicable. Be aware of this store and the other posted complaints to which "owner" responds..."go online and fill out the form." Even the form doesnt work as I noted at the start. I have dozens of reviews that are 90+% positive, so when I feel so extremely wronged by a staff that clearly functions so subpar for so long to so many, I am compelled to share this for the public welfare. Read moreUPDATE: I'm not going to change my stars yet because it's too early to tell if this is going to long term BUT today I stopped in for a sandwich and Someone greeted me. I looked around quickly to make sure I hadn't gone into Starbuck by mistake. TWO, count them TWO employees were smiling and friendly at the counter (whaaaat?!) My food was ready in under five minutes in spite of a line. They even had to fix another customer's order first ...and they apologized to him. (I know. I couldn't believe it either). The chips were stocked up. I didn't check the soda machine because I had just assumed it would not be working as per usual. It's probably better, I might have stroked out if it actually had a full array of options. Or was even working.
I don't know what happened but please don't fix it. If it's a glitch in the matrix, I'm good with that. If pod people have taken over, I'm good with that, too.
Oh, and this was at exactly noon. My head is still reeling.
They get a three because the food quality is good. It's tasty and I get I'm expecting. That being said, this Cousins has serious management issues. When you repeatedly hear "oh, it always takes forever at lunchtime" maybe it's time to review the system and procedures. Just some suggestions: The person who works the register could bag up food, call numbers, maybe drop fries when he's not actually taking orders. The people making sandwiches could put a little hustle in to it. If they had moved any slower today (in between chitchatting) they would have gone backwards. Maybe bring in an extra person between noon and one. Telling people who have half an hour for lunch that their sandwich is going to take 15 extra minutes because you're "so backed up" is not good marketing. Read moreI rarely write reviews, but I do when I really like a place or a place just fails too many times. Everyone knows Cousins' is a great sub place as far as taste. However, the service here is usually a miss. For my last 3 visits at this location I have walked out empty handed because they decided to turn off the grill at a particular time usually anywhere after 9 (one time as early as 9:15 because as the employee informed me there were no customers there to order anything and I assume they wanted an early night out as soon as they can ). For those visits where I have walked out with something in hand (within the past 3 months) it is like the people working the front is doing everything on their own because those in the back are not helping those in the front after they even ask them to (I have only experienced this on the weekends during the afternoon/evening hours). Still those in the front kept it really friendly and were very apologetic for the wait and I just silently gave my kudos to those workers because they were trying their best while not letting the situation get to them. I do not come here as often anymore because of the service and I just go next door if they are not closed.
