Marciaâs natural, personal, and intentional care for me as a customer and member of the community truly brings me heartfelt gratitude.
I greatly appreciate her creativity as a professional bakery chef and her genuine encouragement in my pursuits.
I am also very excited that the offerings of Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe are in high demand, soon to be featured in a Visit Milwaukee tour!
My experience working with Marcia has been exceptionally seamless and I canât wait to return and visit every day that I am able.
Walking in on a Thursday morning, I enjoyed connecting with Marcia because, through her clarification questions, she understands exactly what and why I am ordering a delectable Brigadeiro!
This makes me feel valued on a personal level which means so much more than placing a dessert order at a sit down restaurant like Rodizio Grill or Texas de Brazil.
I belong at Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe because of how carefully, considerately, and creatively Marcia handles my request. The way she went above and beyond to provide what I had asked shows me that she expects me to expect service as well as baked goods that are above and beyond anything I have ever received from a bakery kitchen. It makes me proud to have met her. It makes me proud to receive an experience in Brazilian culture, here in Milwaukee.
Even though she was predicting that the Brigadeiro would be ready on Saturday, she understood that I worked all day Saturday and would be available to pick up the tort on Friday. I am enthusiastic and incredibly grateful for how she encouraged me to check in on how things were looking the next day.
I call on Friday morning. The Brigadeiro is warm, just out of the oven. Enthralled, I ask if Marcia could hold / reserve it for me.
Yes! Iâm celebrating! I get there 10 minutes before 3 PM when the cafe closes. Iâm gratified to see that the Brigadeiro has 3 chocolate cake layers! How beautiful with both melty white chocolate and chocolate crĂšme added for a marvelous Chocolate Mousse Brigadeiro. The cake slices are thick too, at least an inch in hight.
Topped with a single halved strawberry, Marcia slides the towering tort into a box and wraps it delicately with preservation paper to prevent white chocolate transferring to the lid.
Without a second thought, I order a drip coffee to compliment my chocolate entree, and I honestly think that Marcia gave it to me for free as it was the end of the day.
Satisfied and grateful, we smile in comfortable discussion of her confident participation in the upcoming Visit Milwaukee tour! I hope that it goes smoothly! Iâm very happy to be a customer here because she keeps me close by asking what I do, if I work around Milwaukee. I feel intentionally recognized as a valuable member of the community.
I am very grateful to be here to continue the conversation and receive thoughtful and heartfelt care from my friends at Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe.
I canât wait to...
Read moreHaving lived in Brazil, I was excited to get in a place with "Brazil" in the name. It's quaint and refreshing, and a lot bigger than it seems at first sight. Just make sure you walk around the back behind the counter to find rooms with seating areas, including a swinging chair. Very "sweet" vibes all over.
The gal at the front was also nice, but a bit on the quiet side. The owner moved back and forth from the kitchen and talked to the gal in Portuguese and had a lot more energy but didn't say anything to me personally. I wish she had - I love conversing with people from Brazil as it brings me back fond memories.
Some suggestions is that I wish they had more Brazilian style coffee choices... Like cafe com leite, and cafezinho... Just bring a little more Brazil to the place. Other than "brigadeiro", they seem to shy away from Portuguese lingo in general in their menu.
I was excited to see coxinhas in their warm case. They're chicken croquettes, which I used to eat almost everyday for lunch at school. They were smaller than I remembered, but quite delicious. I did feel that the curry taste was a bit stronger than I'm used to, but it has been a while since I've had authentic Brazilian fare. I got five that were hanging out in their wam case, and one that had just come out from the kitchen.... and the one that had just come out of the kitchen was sooo good. I wish they had just given all six from the kitchen. It really makes a difference! Maybe these would be better in a menu rather than displayed in a warm case...
Very sweet experience and thankful to have discovered another Milwaukee gem! can't wait to try their other...
Read moreI enjoyed the simplicity yet very beautiful & cozy feeling that got when I opened the door. I loved that there were two ways to read the menu. By hand or on the board. I loved seeing the pastry and sandwich options inside of the clean and clear case. Along with ice cold beverages to choose from. The decor says welcome and stay for a little while. The owner was present and was very friendly and knowledgeable (but of course). I ordered a chicken sandwich and black coffee. Both a great choice and would love to have again. This was actually my second time eating here and suggested to a few of my friends. Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe is very unique not just for it's great menu but the decor and vibe. Even the other customers. I'm excited to see what the summer menu may hold. This is definitely a great addition to the east side...
