Dairy Queen Store — Restaurant in Mineral Wells

A seemingly common viewpoint on this restaurant...the food was great, but the owners attitude was horrible. My elderly neighbor who we cook for and sometimes clean for, wanted to take us out to eat to show his appreciation for what we do for him. As he told us, he is uncomfortable in social situations, so he jokes around with people to break the ice. While ordering, he made a few jokes with the cashier. Not offensive jokes, but like funny little quips. I guess one of the owners didn't like how much time he was taking and went to the back to tell her brother, another owner, that she didn't like it and he was taking too much time to order. He came out of the back very aggressively and told him to hurry up and get his order done and stop joking around. After our dinner, I asked to speak with him as I did not understand why they went aggressive with him so quickly. Me being a small business owner myself, I understand that you don't get to pick your customers, you have to be polite to all of them and have some tolerance for people with different quirks. So I asked if they had had problems with him before or something and he said no. I was being super polite as it seemed they were a little hot headed. At that point more owners came out of the back and started talking down to me like I was some demanding Karen, and said that they are the owners and if they don't like someone they can tell them to get out, and proceeded to say if I didn't leave they were going to call the cops. I explained I was just trying to figure out if they had a problem with him before or what, because I didn't understand the 0 to 100 aggressive attitude, now with me as well as him. Seeing how the owners acted towards me, the other employees started trying to pile on. Way to set that example for your employees! So sad to see them act like this, I love to support small businesses like my own, but I can guarantee I will never go there and support them again. I too have had to stick up for my employees being harassed unfairly, but this was not that kind of situation, It was truly uncalled for. I see that they never respond to their Google reviews, positive or negative. Pro tip...answer them all regardless as it gives people a sense that you care about about what people think of your business and...

I’ve been a customer since somewhere around 2005 my cousin and I would walk down the hill to get some of the best quick cooking in the business. The staff is beyond friendly and they never fail to put a smile on my face. The food is cooked when you order and it is never cold or old appearing.

I have frequented this joint for the past 3.5 years at least once a week and I have never felt out-of-place or taken advantage of in any way.

The women (and men) but mainly the women are always in-sight and super attentive to their customers wants or need . (This does not mean the men won’t help you because I know for a fact if you ask them they would love to help you)

Around lunch time or any busy time (5-7pm) for a restaurant; you may notice the women are working hard to prepare the food, please be understanding as when HUMANS get busy or become focused they tend to be more quiet and/or attentive to what is being ordered-up and not necessarily what has already been served. They take their time to cook your food as you requested, to provide YOU (literally you) with the highest quality of cooking they can be perform. Ask and you shall receive.

This is a family-operated establishment and the team works great as a unit. The women in the front never fail to get me giggling.

If I could give more than 5stars I would!! Now I understand what sets this DQ apart from other ones! They are family owned and this diner has been in their family for many generations! They are able to serve DQ items without having corporate over head like other ones. The STAFF is all related and they go above and beyond to make sure everything Great! They are the friendliest /happiest BEST service staff I have ever seen in any Dairy Queen!! The food is AWESOME TOO! They go above and beyond with their food items! The blizzards here are the BEST! They make sure that you get the topping mix/ flavor of your choice with alot mixed well into the blizzard. The topping mix is not just dumped on top like other DQ's. Burgers and fries are GREAT!! Chicken tenders and gravy yummy too! It is small inside so make sure not to come during lunch rush and they are only opened during the week...
