My first time coming here and it was awesomeness! The best part? I felt like pricing was really good. I paid less then $7 for something that filled me up and I couldn’t even finish it! I ordered a potato mozza and it was tasty. You’ll like it if you really like cheese. I also liked that when you go to pick up your order, they have a topping station. I didn’t add anything to mine but probably will next time just to try something new. The worst part? I really dislike parking in this area but you can get lucky and find a spot not too far for cheap ($4 for 2 hours.) I also kinda didn’t like but totally understood that once you ordered, you had to wait outside and then they’d call your order number through a speaker. I didn’t totally mind because it was nice outside but I’d be worried if weather was bad. You also had to show your receipt for pick up which was good because then no one can take your order but you better save that receipt! It’d be nice if there was a spot to sit and wait too but we had to stand the whole time. The place itself is small so understandable why a ton of people can’t be waiting inside all at once. I also was kind of disappointed because I totally thought there’d be a hot dog inside but there wasn’t. I guess I didn’t know what a Korean hot dog was and was a bit misled by the name but hey, it was still good and I’d go back to try...
Read moreA small parlor, Cruncheese doesn’t offer much in the way of seating. It’s definitely a grab and go, munch as you walk, fair-style kind of cuisine. Which is comfortable when you have the greater Dinkytown atmosphere to enjoy. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an atmosphere of its own. Behind the counter and in the waiting area you’ll find friendly staff - the kind you’re sure will remember your order if you make a habit of it - and patrons with a nice local feel.
The food is a variety of different combinations of potato, mozzarella cheese, and hot dog, covered with batter and fried on a stick. A pretty simple but delicious and easy to eat crunchy carnival. Condiments, such as garlic sauce are optional, and administered in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I had the Squid Ink Korean Hot Dog, a combination of hotdog and mozzarella fried in a squid ink batter, but I would recommend any of the variety of mozzarella, hot dog, and potato combos.
What particularly impressed me was that, though I knew I was eating one of the unhealthiest things in existence, I didn’t feel particularly weighed down afterward – as you might expect from a regular loaded corndog. Be warned however, that the small kitchen makes it difficult to get a lot of food out in a hurry and you may be waiting a while if your unlucky enough to be caught...
Read moreI visited here with my siblings a few weeks ago, first and foremost the food is absolutely delicious! I recommend the mozzarella corn dog with the sweet and spicy sauce on it! Secondly, I had held the menu up on the menu for some customers waiting outside, since they are sooo busy!! ( love that for them) and the employees working were just the kindest about it, they gave me a free drink for doing that. Which was absolutely unnecessary, but so so sooo kind of them! I’ve worked in a restaurant since I was a kid, and when I go to other restaurants I try to be as kind and understanding as I can be, working in such an environments can be really tough, especially since they are so busy. Anyway, I have absolutely no negative things to say, these guys were so incredibly sweet, and the food was soooo goood!!! Please please starting running toward them, it’s actually amazing food! Something so simply yet soooo flavorful! The food came out in about 5 mins, but please have patience, the line does get long, but once you order, your wait is short! I was lucky enough to get there right before the busy really hit. Anyway go! The soonest...
