I will do my best to avoid being "that guy" and reference the "Parks and Recreation" TV series, but by mentioning it just now I have already failed.
A calzone is very much like a pizza sandwich, and like sandwiches, they are good any time for any meal. This place serves solid calzones, and I plan on trying much of the restaurant's calzone menu as a result. I had the "Speed Zone" which contained breaded chicken, spinach, garlic, mozzarella, ricotta. This was flavorful and surprisingly filling. I also had the "Spinner Zone", which was the same as the "Speed Zone" minus the chicken. Not the iconic calzone picks yes, but I was feeling something with primarily vegis and wanted to make mama happy, her knowing I eat vegis once every few months.
The key to any sandwich, pizza, or calzone, is not just one thing, but the whole encompassing dish! Each ingredient must be on point, but then play into one another to create something tasty. It was not just the "innerds" (if it were pizza we'd call them "toppings") that were working their magic, but the excellence of the dough. It was reminiscent of something I would have in NYC, in that the dough found its balance among both crispiness and chewiness. This was the winning marker for me!
I advise sticking primarily to the calzone side of the menu. I tried the chicken wings, and they had the same texture and flavor of that of Pizza Hut's. Though I have heard some impressive stories about D.P. Dough's stix, so I may have to make an...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious. I'd never had a calzone before trying one here, was originally just going to get their boneless wings, but knowing how much portions can vary I was worried that one pound of them wouldn't be very many, I worried wrong, they definitely give you your money's worth of wings! They tasted amazing as well! As for the calzone, as I said I'd never had one before, and I almost regret having my first be from here, cause unfortunately I think my expectations are going to be set way too high if I ever get one anywhere else. Had the gopher, was not disappointed in the slightest, the thing was massive, and every bite was like biting into a little cheesy bomb of flavor. Ended up getting the cinnamon sticks for dessert, and all I can say is after eating those theres a reason dough is in their name, you can really taste the dough with them because of how simple they are, and my god their dough is great! Will 100% be ordering here again, and would highly reccomend that if you're thinking about it, try it, you wont be...
Read moreI love dpdough. I’ve had a few issues recently with some of their weird “changes” I’m not sure if it’s covid related or just something that has started or if it’s management just not being on the same page. Some classmates and I were doing a big study session, like 8 of us, and got hungry so DPDOUGH was an obvious pick for all of us. We decided we’d pay in cash just because it would be easier for all of us (we all work on some form of tipped industry) and no dealing with venmo and stuff. So we order the food and are waiting on it to arrive when we receive a call from the manager saying “We don’t accept cash orders on weekends, so you’d either have to pick it up or it would be cancelled”. We were all super confused given that this is a favorite among all of us, we had all at one point ordered on a weekend and paid with cash. The night before my BOYFRIEND ordered on a Saturday and paid with cash. I just wish if that wasn’t an option that you would put it on the site so that we wouldn’t be waiting 1 hour + for food we...
